Who remembers the band, RADIO WENDY? They hailed from San Diego and the band featured Brando, Gariss, Lee and Bill. We didn’t know much about the band at the time. Hell, I think we may have thought they were just members from @rftcrftc that started a side band. 🤷🏻♂️ We liked them, nonetheless. And, they ended up being Itchy Korean Records first release… AND NOW MORE FROM 7 inch vinyl record “Suzy Shot Me With Her Pop Gun” b/w “Constant Quiters” Recorded at Box Studios by Gar Wood I believe we did a pressing of 300 on translucent yellow and 900 on black wax. Next on my list of the #top20albums that influenced my songwriting is Leaving Through The Window by @somethingcorporate. Released in 2002, this was one of the first “emo” bands that I started listening to, even though they prefer to be categorized as “piano rock”. I’m amazed at how brilliant the songwriting is from a relatively young band. The inclusion of @amnthewilderness’s piano playing complementing his vocals is still something we haven’t really seen from many bands. There’s a great mix of rocking songs like “If You C Jordan”, “I Woke Up in a Car”, and “Hurricane”, alongside some great deep, mellow songs like “You’re Gone” and “Globes and Maps”. My favorite is easily “Punk Rock Princess”. From a songwriting perspective, I was really influenced by how Andrew effectively incorporated piano into hard rock songs. You can hear this influence on songs like @shermanrockband’s songs “Reunion” and “Falling Back Again”. One of the band’s biggest songs for the album was “If You C Jordan” which does a great job of using 6/8 time on a hard rock song. Fun fact: I saw their first ever arena show in San Diego, opening for @newfoundglory.
