Today is the first freeze and I’ve been working HARD on this rescue daily to capture this one before it’s too late. If anyone has been following my efforts over the last 11 months then you KNOW that I’ve been feeding a pack of strays twice a day in Cleveland TX and rescuing them one by one and today we caught another one. 😭👏🏽I’ve been protecting this pack in many ways and caring for them alongside with the neighbors I asked to lookout for them by helping me feed and water them. This dog shown who we’ve named “ Lucky🍀 ” is the sickest stray in the pack of remaining dogs we’re determined to catch before winter arrives. I could cry right now. He has to be in warm quarantine and our quarantine space that accommodates only two at a time is full. With this being said, I’m going to look for a tiny shed of some sort and get electric installed asap. Unfortunately we can’t keep him inside the sanctuary because he is very very sick and the fleas are BAD! We aim to get Lucky seen at the vet this week and we have no doubts that I’ll have to have him by my side for weeks due to the amount of medications and medicated baths he will need. I didn’t have anywhere to put him. 🥺 Suddenly this occasion reminded me of when I first started my rescue and didn’t have a separate location to house my rescues. Only this now I have a sanctuary location with several animals onsite, but we’ve ran out of quarantine space. Although I didn’t know where I would put this dog, I didn’t waste time because I knew he was sick and freezing. I bought a used little trailer on Facebook marketplace with electric and we are now using it as a shelter for the sickest stray dog here….Lucky. 🍀 I feel blessed that people from all over donate towards his care right now because I wouldn’t have been able to invest money and a lot of time catching this guy before the first freeze of the year. Now we are working within this trailer and hope to find someone that can finish insulating the walls and do some patch work on this new quarantine shelter before it rains. 😬 Thank you for supporting us through these steady growing challenges. I really hate to be that person who has to beg and ask for money, but I'm in a very tough financial situation. My pup is sick and I don'g know what he has because I cannot afford the vet bill to even get him an exam. I recently changed jobs and my new paycheck is less than stellar due to the nature of the job at the moment and the location I work not being officially open. I've searched up and down the internet to see of I can determine what is wrong with my little Hodir to see what I could do to help, and most options are intestinal blockage, viral or bacterial infection (from fecal matter that the other people in my apartment leave from their pets 🙄😤), parasites, or some other severe diseases. He's not been eating and has been losing a lot of weight, intermittent watery vomit, he's lethargic, and has shown signs of either stomach pain or hip/back pain. I just want my baby to be happy and healthy again. He's been my companion for two years and I've raised him from a puppy. He's my emotional support animal amd I don't know where I'd be without him. I hate hearing him cry at night because he's in pain or scared. If you can donate to help pay my vet bill, I would be ever so thankful. If you can't, that's perfectly fine, but I do ask that you please share so I can try and find help. I've found a vet that may be able to offer financial help, but I'm not 100% certain so I'm holding this fundraiser as a backup. Because i puked this morning, was really restless and i really didnt felt Good. Also didnt want to go for a walkie. Just peed and wanted back home. So mom called the clinic. Now my temperature is way to Low and i got some medicine. Mom and dad have to check my temperature all Day and they cuddle me a lot. When the temperature will go lower i need to go back to the clinic and need to stay there. 😳 🐾 Guten Morgen Freunde! The NEW look in his eyes. 😍This is a quick update on Lucky! He has cracked his first smile since we captured him less than 48 hours ago. His smile confirms that he feels safe, warm and happy to be in our care. He no longer has fleas, he’s undergoing deworming treatment, has shampoo for his mange and next are antibiotics and vaccines. Stay tuned for this gradual transformation. We are so grateful that we can use this tiny trailer to accommodate his quarantine but unfortunately we don’t have any more space to accommodate more dogs until we have more structures built for them. 🥺 We have 7 more dogs that we are determined to rescue from the pack that Lucky came from and one is his pregnant mom. It’s been a very rough 48hrs for this little lady😢😢. An emergency visit to the vet this morning after a horrendous night🥺. Severe reaction to Loxicom has really taken it out of her. Now on prescribed probiotics to try relieve her stomach and bowel spasms/severe diarrhoea/vomiting and also antibiotics to hopefully stop the intestinal bleeding. We lost our last Golden girl in a similar way and have been so anxious and frightened for Holly. This little street dog is bouncing back from a horrible attack… A couple of weeks ago, we got a message about Mario. He’d been beaten up in a worrying abuse case, and some locals were trying their best to look after him. They didn’t have much but they’d tried their best. Sadly he wasn’t getting any better 🤕 🥼 So we took him to the land and started care, but it became clear he needed specialist care from vets on the mainland. 💊 After a long journey, Mario had his operation. 😟But he wasn’t out of the woods...He’d contracted an infection and had a worrying few days. Thankfully, he’s now feeling much better and he’s even up and walking. He’ll travel back to the land next week. Nice to have my girl back home. She managed to catch Valley Fever (coccidiomyocosis) probably on our visit to NM for Christmas. It's very rare there, and Neri's presentation was also odd. She never had respiratory symptoms, it seems to have skipped the lungs and gone straight to the brain/spinal cord. She's been on a higher dose of anti-fungal for a couple days, so we can only hope she starts improving again. If she had a big die off event, it may take a couple weeks to get over that too. She is standing better than she was last week and her eyes are a bit brighter. She slept like a log last night, and we've done a little walking and work on her neck so far today. She got to bring home her flamingo for snuggles, and goes in Wednesday for a recheck. *UPDATE* I am a bit better than yesterday. This picture is from this morning and when you swipe you see me last night when I was really bad. The vet gave me complete bench rest. My pawrents worried about that because as a rescue dog I didn’t have good experiences with it so they never used it when I came to live with them over 4 years ago now. But I am doing okay. Dear friends. Here comes an update about Hubbe. Hubby will have surgery on Monday morning. His immune system is basically non-existent so it will be a tough recovery for him. It turned out that because he has such a weak immune system, an infection has turned into a severe inflammation in the lymphatic system. Hubbe is a happy little guy who, despite his illness, is happy and wants to cuddle a lot. However, he is very tired and sleeps a lot and he doesn't like his funnel that he has on his head that protected him to lick the surgical wounds. Frens- if I'd known that I'd have to go to the veterinary hospital, Yam would've never gotten sick!😑😔 . . . Unfortunately, Amanda has been a very sickly girl these past couple of days and is currently being held for the day at the hospital so she can get some IV fluids. She has been vomiting and unable to drink/eat anything these two days. They'll also give her some anti-nausea meds to help her feel better so she can hopefully start to drink and eat. Her blood work seems to point to an autoimmune response (a similar thing happened last year) so she'll most likely be receiving Prednisone and antibiotics again. . She's never had to stay anywhere away from us so this feels so surreal. We pick her up later this afternoon. Today is the first freeze and I’ve been working HARD on this rescue daily to capture this one before it’s too late. If anyone has been following my efforts over the last 11 months then you KNOW that I’ve been feeding a pack of strays twice a day in Cleveland TX and rescuing them one by one and today we caught another one. 😭👏🏽I’ve been protecting this pack in many ways and caring for them alongside with the neighbors I asked to lookout for them by helping me feed and water them. This dog shown who we’ve named “ Lucky🍀 ” is the sickest stray in the pack of remaining dogs we’re determined to catch before winter arrives. I could cry right now. He has to be in warm quarantine and our quarantine space that accommodates only two at a time is full. With this being said, I’m going to look for a tiny shed of some sort and get electric installed asap. Unfortunately we can’t keep him inside the sanctuary because he is very very sick and the fleas are BAD! We aim to get Lucky seen at the vet this week and we have no doubts that I’ll have to have him by my side for weeks due to the amount of medications and medicated baths he will need. Benji is back! 🥹 Tonight I slept better because the medical center send us a video of Benji sleeping deeply and this has reassured me. The next morning he gets to go home!!! Benji was very happy to see us this morning ☺️ The assistant said that his breathing should be monitored and he gets antibiotics. The car ride is always very stressful for Benji but he did great. When we came home I noticed that Benji was very tired. He wasn’t active and he started nodding. It is not surprising that he’s tired from everything he has been through these 2 days. He was breathing extremely fast an hour after he got home. I called the medical center again and I sent 2 videos to them so they could look at them. They called me back and told me that they see this more often in dogs that sleep deeply, because of dreaming and that actually sounded quite logical. So again I was reassured. Now Benji is doing well, he’s not over it yet. He gets antibiotics for the shortness of breathing and next week he has an appointment at the veterinary clinic to see how he’s doing and they will make x-rays of him again. They don’t know for sure if it’s pneumonia but they think that it’s ‘aspiration pneumonia’. Anyway, I’m glad he’s back home. I didn’t have anywhere to put him. 🥺 Suddenly this occasion reminded me of when I first started my rescue and didn’t have a separate location to house my rescues. Only this now I have a sanctuary location with several animals onsite, but we’ve ran out of quarantine space. Although I didn’t know where I would put this dog, I didn’t waste time because I knew he was sick and freezing. I bought a used little trailer on Facebook marketplace with electric and we are now using it as a shelter for the sickest stray dog here….Lucky. 🍀 I feel blessed that people from all over donate towards his care right now because I wouldn’t have been able to invest money and a lot of time catching this guy before the first freeze of the year. Now we are working within this trailer and hope to find someone that can finish insulating the walls and do some patch work on this new quarantine shelter before it rains. 😬 Thank you for supporting us through these steady growing challenges. The NEW look in his eyes. 😍This is a quick update on Lucky! He has cracked his first smile since we captured him less than 48 hours ago. His smile confirms that he feels safe, warm and happy to be in our care. He no longer has fleas, he’s undergoing deworming treatment, has shampoo for his mange and next are antibiotics and vaccines. Stay tuned for this gradual transformation. We are so grateful that we can use this tiny trailer to accommodate his quarantine but unfortunately we don’t have any more space to accommodate more dogs until we have more structures built for them. 🥺 We have 7 more dogs that we are determined to rescue from the pack that Lucky came from and one is his pregnant mom. On Friday Stitch’s MCT got worse - took him to vet they started him on antibiotics and Prednisone. Saturday he did real well, Sunday his appetite died off and he was wobbly. Monday night he had a seizure. He’s had 3 more since then. The last one at 9am when I went to put him in the car to take him to vet. Doc is puzzled by how weak he is… bloodwork and x-rays being done. Last night we noticed that Benji was breathing abnormally. He also vomited without anything coming out. We were very concerned and had called the animal medical center in Amsterdam, they did not answer the phone so we decided to get in the car to the medical center. Once we got there we entered the medical center without having an appointment because they didn’t answer the phone. Despite that we were treated kindly and the vet put Benji on oxygen. X-rays were taken, but the vet could not clearly see the reason for the shortness of breath, and he therefore had to spend a night in the animal medical center so that he would be properly monitored and the examination could be continued the next day. I didn’t sleep this night and cried a lot.. The next day the vet said that he probably has pneumonia and that he would probably recover from it. Also he needs to stay another night to be properly monitored because he is still breathing abnormally. Jedda will be going back to the vet's on Friday as she has been off her food lately and we're a little worried. She's not herself but hopefully over some time she'll be ok, she hasn't taken to well to the painkillers and so we think she's stopped eating because she thought we hid it in her food. Stopped the pain killers for the time being. We've been hand feeding her and trying to get a bit more food in through different ways. She's also constantly shaking even when its warm weather. Update on Lily 😰 She had MRI yesterday afternoon which showed a L1-L2 calcified disc with 50% spinal cord compression and a L2-L3 herniated disc with 75% spinal cord compression. The L2-L3 is freshest which is causing her back leg paralysis BUT she still has deep pain sensation… left leg better than right leg! Surgery took 2.5 hours or so, longer than expected…. L2-L3 was fresh about 1-2 weeks new, so it was easy to clean out and repair. However, L1-L2 was mineralized to the bone/calcified so it was much harder to clean out BUT he couldn’t leave it like that so he took care of that the best he could —- she may of had that for many years. She will stay in the hospital for a couple days where she can be monitored and receive IV pain medications. The bill is already at $10,310 😰😰😭😭 Please help share our posts! Sharing is a huge help! It opens others eyes to what’s going on and they may be apt to help! No amount is too small to donate! I am so sad. I don’t know why I bother reaching out to family…… I was told: “not to be morbid but maybe it’s time for Lily to be with Neville and Duke” 😭😭😭😭 I always make sure I’m there for others even if I’m hanging by a string 🥺😔😔😓😓
Hi furiends - we hope you are all doing well. Daisy has been doing consistently good for a bit now which is nice, the only thing she has going on right now that is problematic is the seasonal allergy flareup for her eyes so we got some drops today. Last weekend we spent some time on our property after we had the road and pad put in, it was the first time Daisy got to be off-leash on her property, ever 😭. It's always been a dream of ours and it still has a ways to go but we can definitely tell she enjoys it so much already, just like us! Our hope is we can spend much of spring summer and fall out there with the overall goal being to live out there. I don't know how we can make the latter happen sooner than later but gosh would love to try. I'll have to try figure out a way to call her though because of her hearing loss we can't just have her running around too far because she won't hear us calling her ...or if something is trying to catch her 😬.
