If the ski industry doesn’t tell, you I will. I see you. I know the hard work you are doing and I’m grateful for your help in making the mountains a safe and welcoming place for families. Here are the top line results from the inaugural Ski Moms’ Happiness Survey. This first of its kind survey reveals an enormous opportunity for ski areas to increase participation through improved access for families. The comprehensive survey, conducted in the 2023-2024 ski season, included responses from over 1,000 ski-loving moms across the United States. The findings highlight the gaps in service for families and provide a clear pathway for growth in a key demographic for the ski industry. Key Findings: ⭐️94% of respondents said that they would have skied or snowboarded more often if there was access to affordable group lessons for their children. ⭐️59% of respondents said that they have struggled to find a clean, quiet place to breastfeed while at a ski area. ⭐️87% of respondents replied that they would ski and ride more with access to on-mountain childcare. ⭐️56% of respondents believe the ski industry DOESN’T cares about families or making skiing accessible. I quite literally could not be more candid about this conversation. Once apon a time I was that macro coach. And.. you know what, it really didn’t work that well for me because it never fixed the issues. . So what… I could perfectly figure out how to eat what I wanted at some magic number? My food really didn’t change. I only learned how to read labels to help me aid my “volume eater” addiction. When the real problem there was needing fiber to feel satiated; instead of junk to still feel like JUNK. . Insert a coach that changed my life, changed the way I looked at food, changed the food I feed my children and the people I love. . Now- I choose foods that will heal my hoshimotos disease. I eat food that will reduce the symptoms of my PCOS. My kids eat foods that will not set them up for inflammatory diseases. My clients eat food that help them lose weight, function at a higher level, reverse cortisol deficeit, increase vitamin D levels and so much more. . With the closing of Sugarloaf this past weekend our winter is officially over. Time for a recap. Outside of family and professional responsibilities surfing has been the most important thing in my life. For 30 years, almost every decision I have made has been in the context of surfing. All of my time, energy, and focus has been on the next wave, swell, and surf trip, until now. After missing out on last winter due to my injuries I was excited for this winter. I taught all three of my kids (6yr, 5yr, 3.5 yrs old) to snowboard. Teaching my kids to snowboard was by far the most frustrating, stressful, and difficult task as a parent that I have encountered. But it was equally as amazing and fulfilling. By far the greatest thing I have ever experienced as a father. The early mornings, late nights, suiting up of pants, jackets, socks, boots, gloves, boards and just getting to the lift was a lot, and this is an understatement to say the least. All of these frustrating tasks became insignificant when ripping down the mountain with my kids. We started with one day in early December at McIntyre, then got passes for Pat’s Peak. We spent our weeknights and weekends at Pat’s. I would take one or two kids at a time, it was impossible for me to take all three, just taking two was challenging! We destroyed 2 harnesses teaching all three to snowboard. When Pat’s closed we got passes for next year and began going to Sugarloaf for the remainder of this season. We also started camping out in our van for the overnights. We had so many great experiences. All the hard work my family had put in all winter culminated in all of us riding together over April break. Needless to say it was a great winter of snowboarding and I cannot tell you the last time I surfed, and I am sad the winter is over. I can’t wait to ride with my family again next year, but now it is time for summer camping and the beach. One of the most chaotic decisions I’ve ever made was teaching my kids to ski personally and not through lessons I had to put all the professional ski instructors of America training and years of teaching as a job to use an equally chaotic decision was roping my husband @darinrkaiser into it and making him do falling leaf down the hill for the last 5 years straight on a snowboard and hike back up over and over to pick up kids before they learned to get up on their own 🙌 The most arguments we have ever had in all our years of marriage have been on a mountain with 2 kids under 5 on skis at the same time 😂 But. Alas. I’m SO glad we pushed through because today they talked me into let them them go on their first black diamond … which ended up being moguls straight down the entire way (my personal jam but definitely new to them) So proud of these 2 for shreddin the gnar today 17 outfit changes because it is def a spring skiing 50 degree day. Today may have been our final day of the ski season! The intention was to get one more in tomorrow at Jay and keep on riding home, but I blew my transmission two days ago, have been cruising around in a rental I nicknamed Black Betty - Bette Noire (bête noire), my witty double entendre! I’m still waiting to hear if my baby will be done and ready to leave or if we are stuck out here in Canada for another day. I’ve learned that Canadians are quite impatient with you on the road when you have a Quebec plate! They expect you to know where you’re going, and drive fast to get there. They’re much more kind and forgiving with the American plates. When kids are little, they can be very motivated by sticker charts and cute little to do lists that involve visuals. However, the excitement tends to go away as they get older. At the point that your kiddos are old enough to read, you can transition to this book. 100 pages that give you a place to write the date and up to 8 chores or actions that you need your child to complete. Then at the bottom, there are additional lines where you can write what they have earned once their check sheet is completed. This can be very helpful for kids who transition home off the bus and arrive prior to their parents returning from work. 🌸 Take away the need to repeat yourself over and over again. You can simply refer back to your kiddo's book and ask if they completed the list for the day. 🌸 Great gift idea for anyone with older kids or teens. 🌸 Examples 🌸 For my 10 year old son: Get it done....
