Head Position & Posture ⚠️ – The Secret to Max Activation. NFL pro @elijahwilkinson68 on 8 Moves.   Yes that’s right I’ve been harping on head, neck, spine, & posture positioning for a while now, even more so than I have in previous years as I cannot overemphasize how important posture is. In fact when combined with 90 degree eccentric isometrics I’ve seen it wake up dormant muscle fibers & motor units while fixing activation deficits, imbalances, misalignment, asymmetries, & numerous forms of muscle dysfunction that no other training methods could resolve.  That’s because the spine is the signaling highway for the body. If this is off, then you’ll be short-circuiting those signals.   This starts with a tall/elongated packed head (not compressed but retracted & packed head).Think about pulling the head as tall as possible while retracting it straight back (not tilted or cocked back). This will help cue the lats by pulling the shoulders down & back while simultaneously cueing the athlete to engage their core by bracing it & pulling their stomach in.   Once the posture is locked in it allows athlete to find optimal alignment, range of motion, & body mechanics from head to toe on each movement as every piece fits like a puzzle. In contrast if posture is not locked in, it will be impossible to perform any movement correctly as there will be imbalances, energy leaks, misalignment, & poor joint centration.   After this, focus on foot mechanics with feet/ankle joint perfectly straight (heels out). This may appear pigeon toed from front due to a wide toe box relative to heel. Go barefoot or wear barefoot shoes like @vivobarefoot (code DRJOEL25 last week to save 25% until November). Traditional shoes compromise foot activation & neural signaling.   The lifter will automatically gravitate towards 90 deg joint angles on most movements as going deeper will require them sacrifice these postural elements & alignment cues to various degrees. I NEVER force 90 deg on anyone. I simply teach the athlete proper alignment & posture & inevitably they always gravitate toward 90 deg the way God intended us to under high force scenarios.   #workout #fitspo

For some reason, you don’t always see fibre recommendations. Dietary fibre is a complex carbohydrate found in plants that cannot be fully digested by your digestive system and it has been widely associated with positive health outcomes ✅ Some of these include but are not limited to a reduced risk of: • All cause mortality • Cardiovascular disease • Type 2 Diabetes • Certain cancers And if you’re one of those only concerned about your appearance there is evidence to suggest it can help with weight loss and weight management as it promotes satiety (feeling full) and has a high thermic effect of food (you expend a large amount of calories digesting the food in relation to the calories consumed from the food). A previous post of mine on the potential demise of General Physical Preparation (GPP) received some very positive attention last week. There were some great questions raised about how we can manage the current situation to ensure that athletes get the best possible training to prepare them for their long seasons. One specific question was about how we can get the most bang for our buck with short preparatory windows of time. In my current infographic, I present two different scenarios for a limited, but still generous, 6-week preparatory window: 1 - Should we have distinct training phases that move the athlete from general work to more specific and intense work over time, even though each individual phase might be extremely abbreviated? 2 - Or, should we simple accumulate as much ‘general’ physical training over those 6 weeks to improve work capacity, general strength and fundamental movements, leaving the specifics to the sport practice and early competitions? Although there may be a blend of each option, it does raise important questions about where your emphasis should be for off-season preparation. SST ADAPTATION 🧩 Understanding Strength Endurance Strength endurance refers to the ability of muscles to exert force repeatedly over an extended period. Unlike maximal strength, which focuses on the amount of force a muscle can generate in a single effort, strength endurance emphasizes sustained performance under repetitive or prolonged stress. It plays a pivotal role in activities such as long-distance running, cycling, swimming, and endurance-based team sports like soccer and basketball. Understanding Physical Adaptation 1️⃣ Increased muscle fiber recruitment: Training for strength endurance stimulates the recruitment of a greater number of muscle fibers, enhancing the capacity to sustain force production over time. 2️⃣ Improved muscle fiber composition: Endurance-focused training can lead to a shift in muscle fiber composition towards a higher proportion of slow-twitch (Type I) fibers, which are more fatigue-resistant and suited for prolonged activity. 3️⃣ Enhanced cardiac output: Endurance training promotes structural and functional changes in the heart, resulting in increased stroke volume and cardiac output. This allows for more efficient delivery of oxygenated blood to working muscles during prolonged activity. 4️⃣ Improved vascularization: Training adaptations include the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) and improved capillarization within skeletal muscles, facilitating oxygen exchange and nutrient delivery. 5️⃣ Greater oxidative capacity: Endurance training stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis and enhances enzymes involved in aerobic metabolism, increasing the muscles’ ability to utilize oxygen for energy production. 6️⃣ Enhanced fuel utilization: Athletes adapt to rely more on fat oxidation and conserve glycogen stores, prolonging endurance by utilizing energy substrates more efficiently. When I look back at my own training from a year ago, I realize how much I was missing. And that’s not to say what I was doing was bad, I’ve just evolved my thinking massively in the last year to see the flaws in what I was doing. Fast forward to today and I feel much better with where I’m at. I’ve ditched the sole desire to chase numbers on the bar and really worked to improve how I move and how varied I can move. I’ve focused my pursuit on developing broad athletic qualities that I neglected when I was playing sports, because I still want to be able to coach and play them now. I’ve gotten back into addressing known mobility issues after a back injury scare, and started working on areas I’ve neglected for years (foot/ankle). I’ve sprinted more in the last year than I have in some time, and gained a newfound interest in plyometrics. And enjoy feeling like a novice at something again. And I still want to get back into some road running. All that to say when I look back at what I was doing, I don’t feel like it was quite up to the standard that it is now. And that’s a good thing. Because it means I’ve continued to push myself to learn and try new things for myself and the athletes I work with. And I hope that in another year, I’m able to look back at my training now and find fault in something I’m doing. Because that means that pursuit of better will not have stopped. Never settling. Always learning. Constantly evolving. That’s the approach I take when it comes to my own training.

Super proud of this guy! @reececallies for battling this whole season. He over came a lot of adversity dealing with an injury all year that he sustained last year in playoffs. That’s a prime example of grit and work ethic. We’ve done everything we can to keep him moving and strong to make sure he was tip top every game. È stata una settimana movimentata e ricca di emozioni, quella appena terminata. Domenica 14, Raffa si laurea campionessa regionale Lazio, al termine di una giornata che definire stressante è poco. Brava Raffa, la tua tenacia dovrebbe essere raccontata nelle scuole. Giovedì 18, Asia incappa in una giornata "no" e conosce la sua prima sconfitta in carriera. Da atleta ho provato diverse volte quanto amara fosse e le auguro che le dia la stessa spinta che diede a me, per tornare più competitiva che mai. Io sono qui. Grazie @monteverde_boxe per la disponibilità e la fratellanza che ci dimostrate da anni. Grazie @pugilisticadabruzzo per tante cose 😂 Grazie @morphosys_supplement per il grande supporto personale ed alle persone che seguo. Soprattutto grazie a chi ha fiducia in me, farò di tutto per non deludervi. Piccola curiosità... festeggiai il compleanno dei 18 anni in trasferta a Perugia con la primavera del Calcio Chieti, quello dei 30 anni combattendo (e vincendo) un torneo di k1 che mi diede poi l'accesso in nazionale, e quello dei 38 anni all'angolo di Asia. Penso sempre con piacere a questi aneddoti perchè mi ricordano quanto io sia stato bravo, non fortunato, a scegliere questa vita giorno dopo giorno. Non ho mai creduto nel destino, la maggior parte della nostra vita la decidiamo scegliendo con cura cosa fare e cosa non fare.

💥 When playing a rotational sport, it is important that we STRENGTHEN into rotation! 💪🏼 💥 Who would’ve thought??😲 But, often this is a missing competent in training programs!  💥 Specifically, targeting the obliques 🙌🏼 Our obliques attach from the ribcage to the pelvis. Besides helping with the act of rotation itself, our obliques play an important role in maintaining alignment of our ribcage over our pelvis.  💥 This alignment is going to help prevent excessive rib flare and help improve the position of our diaphragm so that it can work most efficiently!  💥 There are a lot of different ways to strength train as a rotational athlete, but a few of my favorites are: 1️⃣ Offset deadlift  2️⃣ Bulgarian split squat with banded rotation 3️⃣ Floating heel rows 4️⃣ Tall kneeling pallof rotation  💥 So, next time you are warming up or getting some training in before a round of golf, give some love to your obliques!😘 💥Disclaimer: if you are experiencing pain during your sport, it is crucial to consult a healthcare provider to create a treatment plan tailored to you & your needs  #thephysiofix #golf #baseball #rotation #athlete #youthathlete #youthfitness #softball #lacrosse #fieldhockey #cricket #oblique
