Cédric Klapisch — En corps. (2022) Je connais assez mal le cinéma de Klapisch, je n'ai vu que ses deux premiers films ; je n'avais pas trop d'idées à propos de ce à quoi ça pouvait ressembler maintenant mais celui-ci me semblait sortir un peu du lot sur le papier. Dans ce film, on suit une danseuse classique qui se blesse assez gravement lors d'une représentation ; cela signifie donc : plus de danse pendant un petit bout de temps. Le film ne va pas exactement nous jouer la litanie de la souffrance de la danseuse liée à l'impossibilité de danser : celle-ci va se reposer un peu en Bretagne et rencontrer une troupe de danse contemporaine, ça va être une sorte de réapprentissage. Dans ce film, j'ai aimé quelques-unes des scènes de danse (notamment la scène initiale et quelques autres, de manière un peu éparse) mais j'ai trouvé qu'elles n'étaient pas toujours très bien intégrées et qu'à la fin, ça passait de moins en moins ; dans ce registre, il y a une scène où sont mis en parallèle de la musique (ou de la danse ?) et de la cuisine, ça fonctionne étonnamment bien. Well, with my license back, one of the 1st things I did was a double feature at the theater. I'm pretty behind the curve, so I decided to first go with Dune: Part Two. On the technical side of things, everything is amazing. The acting is pretty great and the new actors are all nice additions to the ensemble. Story wise it has some issues. I probably should have rewatched the previous film beforehand, so that's on me. However, it still felt at times that pieces of the story were abruptly brought up instead of eased into. 16/20 - Dans DUNE : DEUXIÈME PARTIE, Paul Atreides s’unit à Chani et aux Fremen pour mener la révolte contre ceux qui ont anéanti sa famille. Hanté par de sombres prémonitions, il se trouve confronté au plus grand des dilemmes : choisir entre l’amour de sa vie et le destin de l’univers. Blockbuster efficace, ce film est visuellement époustouflant et doit absolument être vu sur un grand écran, dans de bonnes conditions pour pouvoir être savouré pleinement, dans toute sa splendeur. Les effets visuels et effets spéciaux sont également très réussis. De très beaux plans, un décor magnifique. La bande originale est également excellente (quand on connaît le nom du compositeur, ça n’étonne pas du tout) et mérite elle aussi d’être bien entendue, dans de bonnes conditions. Si quelques longueurs sont présentes (ce qui n’est pas étonnant au vu de la trop longue durée du film qui m’a un temps éloigné de celui-ci, me repoussant et ne me donnant pas vraiment envie de le voir, bien que j’aie apprécié le premier), l’ensemble reste assez rythmé et la longueur, assez bien gérée. Le casting est réussi, les acteurs sont tous très bons dans leurs rôles respectifs. Le film est très bien réalisé, et je le trouve supérieur au premier volet. I haven't seen the first film before (The latter film was released in theaters during the pandemic in October 2021); but I was so amazed with it because it is the sequel to the aforementioned first movie (Its release date was delayed and moved several times due to various reasons, including last year's (2023) WGA (@wgaeast / @wgawest / @writersguildwest) and @sagaftra strikes), which is based on a 1965 novel of the same title written by Frank Herbert; and follows the lead character named Paul Atreides as he unites with the Fremen people of the desert planet known as the Arrakis to wage war against House Harkonnen. Movie: Dune: Part Two (2024) Director: Denis Villeneuve Rating: 8/10 Review: Dune: Part Two is a sci-fi film and the sequel to Dune: Part One starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya as Paul and his mother have to adapt to live with the Fremen after losing the House of Atreides to an attack from the Emperor. I know I’m a few weeks late to seeing this movie, but I’ve been busy. Although I wasn’t really planning on seeing it at all until I saw everyone calling it one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made or even better than The Empire Strikes Back. After watching this film, I can safely say it’s neither of those things. I think maybe I’m a little biased because I didn’t care too much for the first Dune film (even after rewatching it the night before seeing the sequel), but I really am not sure why everyone loves this film so much. I mean sure, all the technical aspects are fantastic. The visual effects, the score, the cinematography, the acting, it’s all amazing. Even the story is pretty good (though to be fair it’s adapted from a novel). But for some reason, I just do not connect with either of the Dune films. I never really feel emotional about any of the characters. I think Paul’s character arc is cool and done really well, but that’s pretty much it. I also think this film is a little too long (2 hours and 45 minutes), and I almost felt bored at some points. Even so, I really enjoy several scenes in this film, such as the Harkonnen gladiator battle, riding the sandworms, and the final battle. So yes, I do believe this movie is a great technical feat, but I don’t think it’s as good as everyone is saying. I think Dune is just a little too weird for me (although most of Star Wars was inspired by Dune and I love Star Wars, so…idk). I’d recommend this film if you enjoyed the first one. I give Dune: Part Two an 8/10 overall.

As a filmmakers and film lovers, we all adore these two films and it was a privilege to see this masterpiece on the big screen with you guys. I will always remember seeing “Dune: Part Two” with my buds and collaborators during its original theatrical run. A night of cinema. It’s crazy that I watched Hideaki Anno’s “The End of @evangelion.official” on the big screen (thanks to @gkidsfilms) and Denis Villeneuve’s @dunemovie: Part Two in @imax 70MM in the span of one day. My brain is full of so much science-fiction goodness that it may explode (I hope not). I went from an animated apocalypse with giant beings to a live-action war in the desert and I had the time of my life. Tonight was so special. To see two great work of cinema in theaters in the best seats took my breath away. It was truly an experience I’ll never forget. I loved every second of each screening. “The End of Evangelion” and “Dune: Part Two” are some of the only films that come close to reaching the impossible heights of @stanleykubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey”. Two pioneering films of the science-fiction genre. I was in cinematic heaven these past few hours. 23) DUNE 2 de Denis Villeneuve Le monde d'Arrakis s'ouvre de nouveau en plein chaos. Après l'attaque de son peuple, Paul Atreides doit trouver des alliés pour pouvoir se venger et peut-être, devenir le nouveau messi. La planète sableuse à l'épice très convoitée va devenir le lieu de guerres viscérales entre les grandes maisons sous l'impulsion de l'empereur mais aussi des Harkonnen et de leur baron très inquiétant et machiavélique. Comme chez les gaulois, un peuple d'irréductibles résiste à l'envahisseur et va faire naître un futur leader qui va être tiraillé entre l'amour de sa vie et l'amour politique pour le destin de l'univers. On va pas se mentir, c'est un film au qualité indéniable, très propre, très pur, stylé, hypnotique, aux thèmes forts ( pouvoir et danger de la religion, racisme, complot politique, xénophobie, écologie etc...) Mais !!! La première partie ressemble fort à un résumé du premier volet, où il se passe pas grand chose. De ce fait, le film tire en longueur, on se retrouve avec des scènes qui se ressemblent beaucoup. Être un deuxième volet est plutôt "batard" car c'est un film de transition qui doit tenir en haleine sans trop dévoiler mais aussi sans rien débuter et conclure de l'histoire pour laisser le suspense pour le grand final. Un peu plus d'action qui arrive tardivement avec de bonnes idées de photographie ( le noir et blanc). Casting très intéressant, surtout Rebecca Fergusson et Austin Butler qu'on voit trop peu. Par contre très déçu d'avoir vu Anya Taylor-Joy que 2 secondes et demie ainsi que Florence Pugh dans un rôle limité alors que ce sont des nouveaux personnages. Dune: Part Two es una película de ciencia ficción y aventura del 2024. Paul Atreides se une a Chani y a los Fremen mientras busca venganza contra los conspiradores que destruyeron a su familia. Paul se enfrenta a una elección entre el amor de su vida y el destino del universo, y debe evitar un futuro terrible. Hay que ser claros en algo, visualmente hablando Dune no solo hace lo que le da la gana, sino que también no tiene que envidiarle a nadie, ya que es su aspecto más espectacular y sobresaliente, y esta segunda entrega no es la excepción. Ustedes saben que en cuanto a argumento la primera entrega me quedo debiendo y me pareció algo densa, esta segunda no deja de tener como su ritmo marcado, pero te entretiene bastante, y te dan ganas de estar a la expectativa de qué pasara, es interesante y te engancha. Los nuevos personajes y sus interpretaciones fueron un gran gancho para mí, en especial Austin Butler y Florence Pugh, y me encanto que le dieran mayor relevancia a otros personajes secundarios como el de Zendaya o Rebecca Ferguson, esta ultima definitivamente fue mi favorita de la película. De mi parte, siento que al final posee un argumento entendible y destacable, además de en ocasiones intenso y enganchante, y las escenas de acción son tremendas y espectaculares. All of you who've known me for at least the past 3 years would know that Dune Part One was one of my favourite films of all time and the release of this sequel was my reason to keep living. Up till the end of 2023 that is until another project took my attention and that was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I was still excited and expected a lot from Dune Part Two, like many of us have. And most of you are happy with how it went. I wasn't. In the first film, Duncan described the Fremen's fighting style akin to "demons" and that he nearly lost his life searching for them. This is the strongest warrior among House Atreides we're talking about so these Fremen people better fight good and in the last film, it was meh. Paul and Jessica took a huge group of them out with ease including their leader. But this is rectified in Part Two, we finally get to see how the Fremen fight, how they practice and aced stealth so good that even the assassins in Assassin's Creed would tremble in fear. But yet the same criticism I had for another faction of the houses here are still depicted as lame ass fighters aka the Harkonnens. Gurney said they're BRUTAL, I can still feel my chair vibrating in the IMAX hall as he says that in Part One. But.... they weren't brutal. Even the big dog Bautista's character is complete shite, only knows how to yell and kill helpless servants but can't fight for shit. Now onto the plot. The pacing is slow and nothing much happens in the first 2 hours or so. What made Part One so entertaining and a visual treat is to keep seeing new sets and new locations as the story went on. In this one however, we spend too much time in the desert and nothing stands out. Duncan said there were hundreds of sietches and that they were all huge (I don't remember the exact line) but we only ever saw one sietch? Or maybe two idk but it didn't look all that impressive as described by Duncan. Which is also why I'm not as blown away by the cinematography. It’s always breathtaking to see Denis Villeneuve’s @dunemovie: Part Two in @imax 70MM. This is my tenth time and @ron_chun_’s third time seeing it in theaters and we still can’t get enough of it. The size, the scale, the power, the artistry, everything is just awe-inspiring and, as a filmmaker, I bow down to this picture. Denis Villeneuve ascended to a higher plane of cinematic existence when he made “Dune: Part Two” with one of the greatest cast and some of the best crew working in the industry today. It truly is a staggering achievement that needs to be studied by film students and studio executives. IP franchise films don’t have to and/or need to be passionless and devoid of life. Under the right vision, a picture based on pre-existing property can flourish as a great work of art. Film is the closest thing we have to magic and “Dune: Part Two” is proof of that. So grateful to have seen it 10 times in theaters. But now it’s your turn. I can now count how many times I’ve seen Denis Villeneuve’s @dunemovie: Part Two on the big screen with my two hands. I’m now and forever will be obsessed with this film, especially when shown in @imax 70MM. It’s one that captures my imagination and spirit every time I watch it. It’s a reminder of how powerful film can be and how it can impact you emotionally. There aren’t many films that elicit this strong of a reaction and I’m eternally grateful to have seen it in IMAX a few times now. “Dune: Part Two” is just a miracle of filmmaking that always inspires. Even after 10 viewings, I don’t ever seem to tire of it. It’s one of those magical works of art that touches your heart no matter how many times you encounter it. Dune: Part Two is everything that I hope to make as a filmmaker one day and I can’t seem to take my eyes away from it. Denis Villeneuve has succeeded in making a picture as impactful and as iconic as other science-fiction masterpieces like “2001: A Space Odyssey” and @bladerunnermovie. “Dune: Part Two” will live on forever as one of the greatest films of all-time and one of the most impactful films of the century.
