We just got back from the first official camping trip of the summer! 🥳 Well, kind of. This is Alaska after all. It was actually really cold and windy on Saturday, and it rained all night. But we woke up to sunshine and warmth on Sunday so that made up for it! I had booked my absolute favorite campsite right on Kenai Lake and we were able to relax on the beach with these gorgeous views while Elliott played in the sand. Life goals. I also brought a little inflatable kayak and got to use it for the first time on Kenai Lake. It was so much fun paddling around on turquoise water with mountains surrounding me on all sides. I’ve really missed kayaking, and REALLY missed sleeping in a tent! So this weekend definitely helped bring me back to life after a long winter! Have you been camping yet this summer? Radar and I kicked off the summer hiking season with a jaunt up a portion of the Mount Healy trail yesterday. The intense wind made us turn around sooner than we wanted but there is no doubt in my mind that we’ll be back to complete the trail. It’s hard to believe that this view was completely snow covered only a couple of months ago. There is nothing quite like the Alaskan landscape. In addition to making sure our guests have a kick ass time out on the trails it’s also our job to make sure you stay safe and feel confident driving your machine! Our guides are experts out there. They know the (many) trails like the back of their hands, how to safely navigate deep water crossings, how to make sure you don’t get stuck & how to get you unstuck if you do happen to get stuck. For our full day rides our guides also start up a campfire and cook lunch over the fire for our guests to enjoy. Saturday was our annual guide ride; owners Dan and Matti took all the guides out for refreshers on all skills above + we had a blast enjoying the beautiful spring weather we’ve been getting.
