Unser letzter Stop bevor es mit der Fähre wieder aufs Festland ging, war Canterbury. Hier interessiert uns natürlich besonders die Kathedrale, denn Canterbury ist der Sitz der Church of England. Der hiesige Erzbischof ist bspw. auch bei royalen Hochzeiten etc immer mit dabei. Und der Eintritt lohnt sich, denn die Kirche ist innen und außen auch wirklich sehr eindrucksvoll...aber vermutlich könnte man sich Stunden oder Tage mit allen Details beschäftigen. Im Anschluss erkunden wir die Stadt noch ein wenig, die auch viele schöne Fotomotive bereit hält 😉 📷 Es gibt in Canterbury auch einen großen P+R Parkplatz inkl. Wohnmobil-Stellplatz mit Ver-/Entsorgung. Dort kann man für nur 4£ pro 24h prima übernachten und kann sogar alle 12 Minuten mit dem Bus kostenlos (!) in die Stadt fahren. oggi è ancora una volta, da un bel po' di giorni, una calda estate mediterranea dislocata in Inghilterra, che freniamo dietro la tenda alla finestra, per ripararci dalla luce accecante dell'alba 'chizzana' 'prestina' di giugno e dal caldo che al secondo piano delle case inglesi in legno, resta intrappolato fra il pavimento moquettato, che odio, e i soffitti bassi. Ma il cielo è blu, infinito e splendente e anche oggi ringrazio e benedico la sua azzurrità che mi mette felicità, con l'accento sulla à. Ho da fare spazio per metter via le coperte che solitamente non si mettono quasi mai via a lungo per le fresche notti d'Inghilterra e i suoi mattini frizzantini...che poi tanto lo so che dovrò rimetterle fuori a breve... Ma intanto mi rivivo quelle emozioni di cambio stagione, del bucato steso al sole che asciuga in meno di un'ora, del profumo di sole nel letto, e penso a come il bucato di mia mamma sia sempre più profumato e ben piegato del mio... che io non son nata per rimettere ordine e rigovernare...son nata con ali di libertà per varcare orizzonti distanti e con gambe forti e veloci per coprire distanze lontane... Lo ricordavo ieri a Emma... che tocca a ognuno di noi aiutarsi a riassettare e tener pulito perché a me non è mai piaciuto fare la mamma 'tradizionale', che d'esser madre mi piace la parte di riempirla di baci, tagliarle le fragole e l'ovetto alla coque per colazione, ascoltarla argomentare, guardarla crescere, ammirata, coccolarla e abbracciarla al mattino quando ha tutti i lunghi riccioli sparsi sul cuscino che ci teniamo strette strette, ma 'ché il tempo della vita è assai prezioso e tocca viverlo al meglio con ciò che fa star bene... e quindi ora che il tempo è bello preferisco dedicarlo a piantare e innaffiare fiori e pomodori nel nostro piccolo giardino inglese.
