Impresionante la Tercera Edición de la SUP race Universidad de Granada de circuito @costadelsup Ya me voy sintiendo un poquito mejor, pero queda muuuucho camino por recorrer. Segunda posición Elite Femenina (faltaron algunas chicas que se fueron al campeonato de España, si hubieran venido las cosas serian distintas), pero feliz de competir con las más guerreras en las difíciles condiciones que nos brindó Cubillas ayer (frio, lluvia y vientito). To say that I was pleased with my performance at the recent @hotd_sup_challenge is a rather weak phrase - taking 7th overall I’m actually pretty darn chuffed : Since completing the @yukon1000race back in July of last year, I hadn’t taken into account just how long it would take to recover from a 1000 mile, unsupported paddle race, which left me weak as a kitten and a totally bolloxed immune system for nearly 7 months. : Only in the past couple of months had I felt that any strength, speed and agility was coming back! : However with a specific plan in getting back some strength, speed and some good old fashioned hard training sessions - I found myself to being speedily off the blocks and back in the front draft pack - I place I’ve not been able to get too for a good while now! : The race was ‘redline’ from start to finish, with a 5 man draft quickly forming including myself, young @charliewaggy , Jan Pospisil, @denzil_williams and the always powerful @bruce_ironsmith, weaving through the traffic of the earlier waves and though the beautiful river and estuary network from Totnes to Dartmouth. : Sadly I couldn’t quite keep the pace in the last mile and dropped to 7th as we crossed the line. : Given that only 8 months ago I was paddling 1000 miles for 18 hours a day for@9’days, hauling nearly 40kgs of kit through the wilds of Canada and Alaska, to getting back to full on ‘redline’ racing - I’m pretty stoked to be feeling back and ready for the next playtime.. 😁 : Huge thanks to @jonescrispin for yet another very well organised race, to @niftynatcan for making me get up in the mornings when the weather was totally shitty and cold to train, and all my other friends who’ve supported me with positive words and kind gestures…🙏 : #broadsupercoach #norfolksupracing #supracer #paddleracing #paddlefaast #nspninja #zrepaddles

That was the longest break I’ve had from the gym outside of injury in years. 1st week tapering in prep for SUP12 (yes 12hrs on the water) then last week recovering and resting in prep for the HotD (13.5km race). It’s not till you stop something that you realise how much you enjoy and need it! @ecker.tanja, @404europe & @hippostickeurope Boss, is the WINNER OF @suptwelve, a 12 hour endurance SUP challenge brought by @brendonprincesup. Here’s Tanja own account: “Some people might call me crazy, but I enjoyed every minute of @suptwelve. @brendonprincesup created an event for everyone, where you have to complete as many laps as possible in 12 hours, as simple as that! You decide yourself when to rest, eat etc so a race strategy was needed. It took place in a beautiful bay in Torquay 🏴 and of course we had some crazy wind, which made it a real challenge. The positive thing about this was that we crossed eachother (nobody wanted to do the crossing with side wind) to cheer and chat. It’s basically you against the 12 hours, no music etc is allowed. What a fun it was! I didn’t really know what to expect, never paddled for that long and I I took a really long break from paddling. Other important things in life took time and I found out I have an old knee, so the focus had to be on getting healthy. Thanks to @aprilzilg for preparing me in a short time. In the end I paddled 29 laps / 82 km in 12 hours which is more a mental challenge, but the people around made it easy and time flying by. Still stoked about what I achieved and cherry on top, becoming 1st in the womens, but also 3rd overall! Congrats to everyone who went out there and achieving your set goals!
