We recently published another study in Graefe’s Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology concluding that administering Tepezza for Thyroid Eye Disease resulted in a significant improvement of patients’ light sensitivity, regardless of how long they had been living with TED. It’s exciting news for those with Thyroid Eye Disease, especially those who have experienced light sensitivity issues for a longer period of time, and assumed that there was nothing that could be done to improve this.

I told him, I would tell my loved ones I tried so hard to fight and how much I love them and to LIVE life to the fullest. 🔪👀🏥 It’ll be 2 weeks on Tuesday since my tri lateral orbital decompression surgery for TED. First week on codeine was pain free obvs but had to stop that after 5 days yuk. Week 2 was slow going but also pretty much pain free. Still nursing that big hematoma above the left eye and plenty of colourful bruising down my cheek. Other side is not as bad. Got some pain and pressure now but it’s expected lol. Still a mess but on the mend! These last few months have some of the hardest and busiest of my life 😮‍💨 I started pursuing school exactly one year ago and it could have taken two years but I decided to kick it up to daredevil speed and finished it all in a year. After completing the paralegal program last December I then had to complete the advanced program specifically for California and I just turned in my finals last week. Im finally done with all the school! School plus work plus unexpected but very necessary hip surgery has been a lot. And the last step in this was completed Tuesday when I had (hopefully!!) my last reconstructive eye surgery. Looking back I really can’t believe I did it all and survived lol. Now, I’m looking forward to healing, resting, and enjoying life for a while. What news! Please show your love and send your prayers I am speechless .I am now a “Cancer Survivor” writing this brings tears to my eyes and so many emotions running through my body. It has been a long journey and a scary journey at that, but one that brought to believe in myself like I never did before. Via @warriorsofgold This is sweet Lanaiyah and she's a 5 year old cancer warrior. Lanaiyah was diagnosed with stage 4 Nephroblastoma (Wilms Tumor), a type of kidney cancer, on November 9th, 2020 One year prior to her cancer diagnosis, this sweet girl was also diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. T1 diabetes was already hard on her and her family and it's a lifelong illness that cannot be cured. Lanaiyah had finished radiation therapy and is halfway through her chemotherapy treatments. She's had several complications because of her diabetes and had had a bout of cdif. Regardless, Lanaiyah is a very bright little girl and so full of personality! Stay strong and fight one princess Lanaiyah! Via a_vr88 I'm tired as all hell. The pain is even more intense then I thought it would be but the drain is out and dressings are on They have found a few issues with my heart as I have a VSD so they need to do things like, echo, ecg, chest X - ray and many more tests. The pain meds they have given me don't help with the pain they just make me sick and go lala, makes for an interesting conversation however - when I can actually speak. I saw my munchkins briefly, youngest was a little terrified and that broke me a little. So fast forward 10 days later results came back showing its benign ( thank God ) But that 10 day waiting period didn't go without stress and the reminder that without your health you have nothing Obviously I know we can't control every aspect of health but I truly believe we can control 90% by the lifestyle we choose to follow The incidence of thyroid nodules is quite high and most commonly are benign , and the incidence of cancer is roughly 5 % How many of you have a had a similar health scare or had a thyroidectomy ? I would love to hear your stories . Officially got the news today! My scan from last week showed "no evidence of tissue in the thyroid bed or any metastatic disease" ... meaning my scan was negative and I AM CANCER FREE! Via @mackenziesoltero I just want to do a quick update on my life because some things have changed after I've updated a lot of people. I got the pathology back from my surgery and 3 out of 35 lymph nodes were positive for cancer. Two in my neck and one in my chest. This is good news my doctor said. I've had people ask me how it could have come back if I had my thyroid removed, and the answer is that it is actually not a recurrence. I have had cancer this entire time and was never actually "cancer free", they just weren't able to see it before. The cancer cells grew over time, and my doctor said pregnancy can make them grow faster. I have decided to move forward with the treatment and scheduled it for early December, but they failed to mention that I had to stop breastfeeding at least 10 weeks before doing this treatment, so we had to cancel. I was initially diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2016 shortly after graduating college and had my thyroid removed. After being cancer free for over 5 years, my doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering detected a suspicious lymph node after years of close monitoring. About a month ago, I was diagnosed with a thyroid cancer recurrence and metastasis to the surrounding lymph nodes. Last week I had lymph nodes in my neck removed, and 9/10 lymph nodes included cancer cells. “While recurrence and metastasis are some of the scariest words a cancer survivor can hear, I want to recognize how fortunate I am to not only have access to the best medical care just a walk from my apartment, but also to have caught the cancer so early (in 2016 and again recently). I am also beyond grateful to have had the most incredible family, friends and medical team supporting me throughout the past 5+ years! How do I get 30g of protein in a meal? It can take some thought as well as looking at nutrition labels or googling to see how much protein is in what you're eating. But it's doable. And once you get it down, it gets so much easier! And I bet you'd find yourself with fewer cravings, less blood sugar swings, more energy, and a more stable mood. 🙌🤗 I know a lot of you get protein, but a lot of you may not be getting enough. Let's use eggs as an example. A large egg has 6g of protein. It's really good quality protein but 1 egg isn't enough for a meal when we're aiming for 30 grams. Am I repeating myself yet? Conditions and syndromes are the end outcome of internal imbalances and dysfunction. Let’s take thyroid as an example. We know that lipopolysaccharides (endotoxin produced by negative gram bacteria and some parasites) impacts our regulation of T3. We know that within our gut we convert a substantial amount of our T4 to T3 (around 20%), and we also know that these gut infections have been documented to cause an increase in thyroid antibodies and the development of thyroid autoimmunity in some people. Not everyone’s thyroid problem is caused by their gut, but some people’s is. And unless we start looking at the whole picture (including our gastrointestinal health), we will miss so many healing opportunities.
