I had the chance to try the dining experience at the recently opened @thedorset.to , which transported me to the coasts of England right here in Downtown Toronto. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by charming decor that beautifully blended modernity with traditional English elements, creating an inviting and cozy ambiance. 🍽️ 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: The culinary journey began with classic English appetizers that set the tone for the delightful meal to come. The cornish pasties were perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior giving way to a deliciously runny yolk, accompanied by a well achieved eggplant sauce.Famous Scotch eggs were also offered but I decided to go for the pork croquettes.Although it is not an english plate, it was tasty and I ended up surprised by its well measured and cooked stuffing. As a comment, these croquettes were a completely different plate than the original Spanish croquettes, but it is fair to say they were innovating. For the main course, the hike and chips stole the show. And here is when it comes the simplicity I always talk about. The fish was fresh and flaky, encased in a light, golden batter that was not greasy at all. Paired with hand-cut, tasty and juicy fries and homemade tartar sauce, every bite was a symphony of flavors that left me longing for more. The stargazy (second picture) pie was another main that enlightened my palate, where the fish heads are positioned so that they poke through the crust, in this case made of broiled mashed potato, creating a whimsical and eye-catching effect. As dessert, I had the pleasure to try the sticky toffee pudding, covered by a toasted milk foam, which was simply delicious. The pudding had not the texture of a traditional pudding, but more like a brownie, which was what made this dessert so surprising and special. 👥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞: The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. The pacing of the meal was just right, allowing us to savor each dish without feeling rushed.

Benny’s Barbecue After watching the viral video with over 1 Million views on Tiktok, I can’t stop myself to try this out! Benny’s Barbecue is a TRADITIONAL TEXAS STYLE BARBECUE, with a craft smokehouse twist, located in Yonge street Toronto. They are only open 4 days a week and usually sell out before closing time. I recommend going at 12 p.m. when they open for a dine-in experience, and if you don’t have time, like ME, you can pre-order for pickup. I drove an hour to Toronto to pick up my order at 3PM, and guess what! They have sold out since 2.30. (The store’s closing hours were 5.30PM) The meats are soft and flavorful, however the briskets are a little salty in my opinion.
