Post 386 – In my last post, we looked at a lovely conical hill surrounded by the La Serena reservoir in a region of the Western centre of Spain called Extremadura. The place is called Cerro Masatrigo. Its old Galician name was Maçatrigo which translates to wheat mill. You have to wonder why it was called that. It is not shaped like a wheat mill & no one in their right mind would place a mill at the top of a hill. A possible clue is with the energies at this site. Grinding wheat into flour was done with two large circular round edged stones (querns), one on top of the other, with a hole in the middle on the top where the wheat was added as it was turned. The flour emerges through channels at the sides between the stones. The clue is that the shape of these two stones is similar to a double torus which is the energy field shape at a symmetrical node on harmony times. Perhaps the hill was called wheat mill hill because someone in the past could see this energy shape at the top where the node is. A few kms to the North West is the town of Puebla de Alcocer & its Templar connection. The 1st image is a 15th century fortress at the top of the hill that overlooks that town which was built on top of a 12th century Templar building. What stands out is the tall circular tower -the Torre del Homenaje (Homage) that stands 25m high & 10m in diameter. Paying homage to the Virgin Mary was thought to be why it was named like this. At its base is an escape tunnel which was something the Templars liked to have in their fortifications. There is though some dispute over which part of the fortress they built & which were later renovations and new buildings. Some historians have stated that the tower is a later Mudejar/ Moorish construction. However there were a few Templars who knew how to find sacred sites & where to build their round towers. A few of them too could probably see the energy shapes. The presence of double rows of thin red bricks in the walls and around the windows is something that is seen at several original Templar buildings. When they built these, they tended to construct them with round or octagonal shaped walls. The thinking on this is in my next comment.

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. Its name is derived from the Arabic ‘Jabal Tariq’, literally meaning the Mount of Tariq, after the 8th century Moorish military leader Tariq ibn Ziyad. In 711 Tariq landed in the vicinity of Gibraltar with a predominantly Berber army to launch the Islamic conquest of much of the Iberian peninsula. In 1160 the Almohad Sultan Abd al-Mu’min ordered that a permanent fortified settlement, including a castle, be built at Gibraltar. The 14th century Tower of Homage of the Moorish Castle remains standing today partway up the northwestern side of the Rock of Gibraltar. It would have been the last refuge of the Governor of Gibraltar when the settlement came under attack and one face of the tower shows damage from shot, probably from a siege that took place in 1333. Stairs inside the tower lead both down to the basement and up to the rooftop and there are informative displays in the limited number of rooms about the history of the tower and life inside it and the Moorish town. Last day in Gib, a hike up to the Moorish Castle, the Tower of Homage. This building dates back to the 14th century, when the Moors recaptured Gibraltar in 1333. Buildings on this site go back much further though, 1170 at least. The Moors ruled Gibraltar for over 700 years, and the tower has withstood 10 sieges. When we arrived, we realised Susie had forgotten her Upper Rock Nature Reserve wrist pass needed to get in the tower. We’d have to buy another full ticket for the for the whole reserve again. we explained we only wanted to do the Castle today, and the ticket guys said the Castle was just an empty shell and not really worth it. We agreed and decided to skip it and walk back down again. The ticket guys say hang on, just go in, it’s fine! Cheers fellas! Only in Gib! It was actually very interesting, we definitely recommend it. The Tower of Homage built in the 1300’s by the Moors. This Tower together with a few of walls is what remains of an impressive castle that once was the old city of Gibraltar with its walls going all the way to the sea. Nowadays there is a mixture of Moorish, Spanish and British walls. Северные ворота на историческую территорию Гибралтара, когда-то эти стены успешно служили для защиты города. На склоне скалы одна из главных достопримечательностей Гибралтара, старинное укрепительное сооружение 8 века - Мавританский замок (The Moorish Castle). Сразу за воторами не менее старинная Казематная площадь, образованная так же в мавританский период. Помимо первого оборонительного сооружения, на площади когда-то располагались и солдатские казармы, ну а сейчас это довольно шумное, атмосферное место с множеством кафешек, баров и сувенирных магазинов. Старые солдатские казармы переоборудованы в Центр искусств и ремёсел, мы заглянули в импровизированную стеклодувную мастерскую, вход свободный.
