"Trust The Process" - D Black Yesterday I set out with 1 goal and that was to qualify for scotlands strongest man final 2024. With a stacked line up of 39 athletes I knew it would take absolutely everything I had and I can confirm I left everything in the arena. Event 1: 300kg Cerberus Axle bar deadlift for reps - 4 reps - only ever managed 1 rep at this weight before so 4 was awesome. 14th place Event 2: Strength shop Axle bar overhead press for reps - 2 reps. 11th place Event 3: 120kg and 140kg sandbag steeplechase. 23rd place. Event 4: 220kg fingals finger for reps - 3 reps - 13th Place Event 5: 120kg-200kg stones. Loaded the 180kg for the first time in a comp so absolutely buzzing. 15th place Started the week being announced as a Cerberus Strength Ambassador and ended it with qualifying for SSM 2024, not a bad week in my books. Client Apreciation Post. Yesterday I had 3 clients competing at @the_unit_cumnock Beginners and Novice Comp. For @david_pirrie_strongman & @dan.dunlop it was a debut in strongman for both of them. Whereas for Chris, it was his debut in openweight strongman as he's previously competed at u80kg. All 3 of them had personal goals and I'd like to praise some observations I made as these threes coach. David - deadlift has become his enemy over the last 3 weeks and psychologically this weight was monstrous. BUT with a wee tweak to last weeks training....BOOM 10Kg PB. 180kg for 1 rep was amazing. Danny, the oldest competitor and funnily enough, is not the oldest client I coach. But he gave the young guns a run for their money and secured 3rd place. An amazing stone runnto cap the day secured his podium place and was awesome to watch. Chris, coaching friends can be difficult and coaching your best friend is even harder, but by eck he made me a proud coach and friend at this comp. Solid performance throughout and the lightest athelete by far didn't look out of place at all. Again, his stone run was flawless and amazing to witness. Gents, take this week off cos 2024 prep starts next week. Coach appreciation post. Behind the scenes away from the gym, in the kitchen is where my new found appreciation for the wee changes that are making the biggest difference. I went clothes shopping this week and as much as I'm not a fashion guru by any means and turning into my dad with the jeans and polo approach. I never realized how much I enjoy hiking. It's become my happy place, where I can escape. My brain turns off, my struggles don't matter. It's just me, the trail, the wild flowers, and the fresh air. As I (slowly) make my way down the trail, I am able to let go and focus solely on me (and my hiking partners). But when I saw this photo, I realized it was the first time I felt truly happy in a very long time. Am I turning into my father? Probably. Does it matter? Not one bit. Updated the guest bathroom sink vanity... I did it ALL! No hot tap needed but the push connect shutoff valves were super easy to install. I’m an overqualified plumber? Favorite tools this time around were the @ryobitoolsusa brad nail gun and table saw... woman up to my fear of rotating equipment. No injuries! Got most things at @homedepot material cost ~$600. Sink, faucet, and wallpaper for the bottom were from Amazon.
