Book Review! This is a must read for anyone who likes ghost stories - and also for those who aren't sure! I just read this and enjoyed it and ghost stories really aren't my thing. However, this was riveting and I do recommend it. It's set in a girls boarding school (if you loved Malory Towers etc you'll love it) and centres on four girls sharing a room and the antics they get up to trying to solve the mystery of the tapping from inside the wall. Wonderful to see the second Mysteries at Sea book in The Times this week as Children's Book of the Week. I loved the first one, and having just finished this one, I loved the Royal Jewel Plot too. Set again in 1936, Alice and Sonny have inherited a yacht, the Lady Rose, and are present when Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson come on board. For parents who know what the history is, it's interesting to see how skilfully the author weaves the Royal story into the plot which revolves around the theft of a priceless Opal. Sticker Dolly Dressing books have been around for years and years and a couple of years ago (might have been pre-covid!), Usborne brought out a fiction series aimed at ages 5 - 8. The author also writes the Billy and the Mini Monsters series and the Fairy Unicorn series. The book has a very few stickers to dress up the dolls, and each book has a dedicated number of doll characters - in this case, Amelia, Jack and Zoe who make up the animal rescue team. There is also a map of Dolly Town, showing where the series is set. In Lucky Bunnies, Wildflower Meadows has flooded and the team are needed to recue the wild bunnies that live there. The story takes us through the rescue, introducing us to book specific and long running characters alike and it's a super cute, simple story to read to and to read alone. Does anyone remember the Usborne puzzle adventure series where you had to deciper the puzzles to get the full story? Well, they're back! The first one, The Missing Unicorn, was published in October and it's really good fun! The story is partly told in comic book style and follows Jade and her new friend Jack on the trail of a stolen unicorn. There are visual clues, puzzles and written clues to help you along the way and if you get stuck, there are clues near the end of the book - and after you finish, the answers are at the back so you can check how you did.
