TOKYO UENO STATION Yu Miri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was able to finish another book and I definitely enjoyed the reading process. I wasn’t exactly planning to read—let alone finish a book—today as there is so much work to be done. I was just trying to take a short break, when I decided to pick up a book and read just a little. But then, I felt so immersed with what I was reading that I ended up putting work aside to focus on Tokyo Ueno Station by Yu Miri. It’s my first time encountering a book told through the perspective and narration of a dead person, which is one of the initial reasons why I decided to add this on my growing pile of my to be read pile. The protagonist, Kazu, as I said, is a ghost who was previously a homeless man who lived and roamed the Tokyo Ueno station. Despite his life being tied by a series of coincidences to the Imperial family, he is unlucky and had experienced so much loss and bad luck. The book didn’t necessarily further explored the lives of the other characters, but I think that the author made a great job in acquainting readers with them through Kazu. Through his ghostly presence, Kazu was able to see into snippets of the daily lives of people who visit Tokyo Ueno station. Tokyo Ueno Station isn’t exactly a plot-driven novel since it jumps from one moment to another. This didn’t really bother me since it was indeed a book that is better told is such type of narration. As a matter a fact, I was super fascinated by how intricate the author narrates the events in this book; be it consequential or trivial ones. Wir kommen zu den ersten 4 Schnipseln aus “One Yard to Heart” von @hailey.j.morgan_romance ❤️. Ich versuche es meistens auf insgesamt 6 Schnipsel zu beschränken, aber meistens gelingt mir das einfach nicht, so wie hier 😂. Travis und Violet sind aber auch wirklich toll, ich habe den Anfang geliebt, nicht nur wie über Travis gesprochen wird, als wäre er ein kleiner Junge 🙈😅, sondern auch die erste Begegnung zwischen ihnen, ich kam aus dem Lachen nicht mehr raus. Aber man bekommt auch hier schon einen kleinen Einblick davon, was Travis zu schaffen macht und das Violet ihn prompt zum Jäger macht. Sie hätte das so nie zu ihm sagen dürfen, es ist nun mal Travis 🙈😂. ⚠️!MY REVIEW(ramblings) MAY CONTAINS SPOILERS!⚠️ This book took a little while to get the hang of, when I started it it was pretty slow and I was kinda of worried about whether it not I was going to like it, but I powered through, and I'm glad that I did as it turned out to be rather a good book! Robin the narrator took a little getting used to, but after a while, I actually quite enjoyed his commentary. This was my first time reading an LGBTQ+ type of book and thoroughly enjoyed it and how the characters were portrayed. "Someone Like Us' by Dinaw Mengestu was SUCH a good read, one of those that I'll be thinking about for awhile. Taking place over he course of three days, with a marriage on the verge of collapse, Mamush returns from Paris to the Ethiopian community in Washington, D.C to reconnect with family. Events occur that change the course of this trip and send Mamush on a cross country journey asking hard questions from his past. For me, this was a story about regret, and family and community, and most of all how a larger than life character in your world can be viewed so differently as an adult vs the person you thought you knew as a child. Those feelings of realization that maybe we built this someone or someone's into an entirely different person based on memory. There is a bit of a twist toward the end that makes you reconsider parts of the story you've read - I love when that is pulled off smoothly, and it is here. Absolutely worth checking this one out (and Mengestu's other works if you haven't yet). Podejmuje staż, na którym również i ona przewartościowuje swoje życie. Zakochuje się nie tylko w Igorze, ale również w malowniczych Kaszubach, bez których nie wyobraża już sobie życia. Poco sentite le atmosfere nordiche ma l’autore è stato comunque molto bravo a tratteggiare la condizione claustrofobica di Merete e la vorticosa ricerca della verità di Carl. Hello Bookstagram ! 🎬 J’ai lu Te dire en silence de @juliebradfer publié chez @nishaetcaetera Je ne m’attendais absolument pas à ça mais ce roman m’a fait passer par toutes les émotions possibles entre joie, tristesse, colère et peine. En fait, je dirais que le mot qui le caractérise le mieux est : bouleversant 🥹 Les sujets évoqués dans ce roman tels que le harcèlement scolaire et l’abandon sont bien traités mais celui que j’ai trouvé le plus poignant et celui de la maladie d’Alzheimer. Il est abordé de manière extrêmement réaliste et j’avoue avoir été impactée personnellement par le point de vue de l’auteure ce qui m’a énormément émue. L’histoire entre Charlie et Alexander est, du début à la fin, remplie de non-dit, de malentendus, d’incompréhensions et de secrets mais c’est aussi et surtout une histoire de premier amour, celui qui vous marque et qui reste en vous et dans votre cœur pour toute votre vie 💔 Le fait d’avoir énormément de flashbacks permet de comprendre comment est née la relation entre nos personnages 6 ans plus tôt et le lien qui les unis. J’ai trouvé très original que ces flashbacks soient construits comme dans un script de cinéma pour nous rappeler le thème du livre. Le seul petit point négatif est que je n’ai pas ressenti énormément de tension entre les personnages, à mes yeux l’histoire est plus ciblée sur la puissance de leur amour. Aussi riche en émotions qu’en rebondissements, je ne me suis pas ennuyée une seule seconde durant ma lecture. C’est une belle découverte, la plume de l’auteure est incroyablement poétique et je prendrais sûrement plaisir à découvrir d’autres de ses œuvres. Alors est-ce qu’il vous tente ? Boken kryper verkligen in under skinnet och med ett djup, ett otroligt driv, rappa dialoger och med karaktärer som är spännande, blir den här boken en riktig bladvändare. Det finns twister och vändningar som är riktigt snygga och som lyfter boken. Després de terminar a escoltar el pòdcast, “TAFANERS. La bona xapa” fet per Guillem López i Tatiana Dunyó, vaig decidir a posar un llibre que vaig comprar l’any passat al dalt de primera de moltes piles dels llibres pendents. Aquest llibre és “Arxipèlag” de Guillem López publicat per Mai Més en març de 2023. És un llibre curt i potent (no he dit “però” expressament) de ciència-ficció ubicada en València. Un dia un fenomen inexplicable d’illes què reemplaçar parts de la ciutat amb miratges disloca, o no tant, la normalitat i llavors… No vull dir massa més per no fer espòilers per gent que no agraden els espòilers. Guillem té un estil ben treballat. Jo crec que és un llibre coherent, una metàfora, un crit de ràbia contra l’absurditat del lògic d’un món dominat per un capitalisme salvatge que infecta fins i tot les relacions sentimentals. L’autor va nàixer en Castelló i l’obra és escrit usant la variant valenciana de català. És la primera novel·la de l’autor en català (és un autor reconegut en castellà), i tinc esperances que no és un “one and done.” Com que vaig anar a Castelló per un dia durant les meves vacances a València i Catalunya en febrer, estat collonut de poder llegir una obra de ciència-ficció d’un autor nascut allà i també de poder llegir un ambientat en València, una ciutat que vaig anar dues vegades en cinc meses. Si algú sé més autors valencians que de gènere fantàstic, jo seria agraït si fes-me saber :) L’obre m’ha enganxat i ha sigut una experiència molt plaent. Per cert, la coberta em fa flipa. Teil 1 der Engel-Trilogie hab ich ausgeschmökert. Der Stil ist sehr gut lesbar. Mir fällt auf, dass die Story ohne dich überschlagen Action auskommt. Und mir hat ganz besonders zu Beginn gefallen, wie Beth unsere Welt wahrnimmt. @reado_official Leider kann ich gerade das Buch nicht abschließen, noch sonst irgendwas machen. Gibt es da eine Störung? Ciąg zbieżny to pojęcie matematyczne. W literaturze liczne skojarzenia, m.in. z częścią twórczości Stanisława Lema. Matematyka to królowa nauk. Niektórzy uważają, że za jej pomocą można opisać i zdefiniować wszystko, także przebieg i sens życia ludzi. Wawrzyniec Hyska, autor "Ciągu zbieżnego", póki co, nie ma chyba takich ambicji. Może kiedyś. W jego sprawnie napisaną powieść wplecione są wątki matematyczno -informatyczne. Na szczęście nie dominują nad całością, są swoistymi przerywnikami i mogą być dość ciekawe dla laika w sferze technologii informatycznych. Sama powieść ma charakter obyczajowy z wieloma różnymi wątkami: uzależnienie od innych ludzi i rzeczy, wpływ mediów społecznościowych i mód tam lansowanych, zanik tradycyjnych wartości, nawyków i przyzwyczajeń. Główny bohater Marek, jak większość w literaturze, ma na początku kredyt zaufania u czytelnika. Można nawet zdążyć go polubić, a na pewno rozumieć jego intencje i działania. Poznajemy go na najwyższym stopniu jego "kariery" i swoistego, pozornego jednak szczęścia rodzinnego. Każda przeczytana strona przybliża upadek wszystkich, całej rodziny Marka. Akcja toczy się szybko i ma zaskakujące zwroty, co oczywiście podtrzymuje ciekawość. Inicjatorem tych zwrotów jest za każdym razem kolega Marka z pracy - Borys. Nasuwa się tu skojarzenie z diabłem, Mefistofelesem, który od niechcenia, z uśmiechem na twarzy wskazuje kierunek ku totalnej katastrofie. "Ciąg zbieżny"nie jest książką dla tych, którzy lubią dobre zakończenie. Ale nawet tu można takie sobie wyobrazić, jeżeli autor pokusi się o drugą część. Z każdego więzienia można wyjść, jeżeli ma się do kogo wrócić. A Marek ma do kogo....., tylko czy potrafi to zrozumieć i docenić. Życie jest ciągiem zbieżnym, które zawsze kończy się źle?
