Can you guess these edges?📖 There’s just something about a spredges stack that makes my soul smile🫶🏼 Guys, happy Sunday! It’s crazy to me that it’s Sunday already. I’m still poorly, it’s taken ahold of me and not letting go😢 I’ve been driving around seeing family this weekend and it’s been really lovely, what have you been up to? Read any good books lately? I haven’t read a book for nearly a week now which is shocking. I’m thinking One Dark Widow as my next book to read!📚 🏷️ #guesstheedge #spredges #bookedges #specialeditionbooks #specialeditions #prettybooks #booklove #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #bookish #booktography #adultfantasy #fantasy #fantasybooks #fantasyreader #fortheloveofreading #readmorebooks #darkaesthetic #readersofinstagram #librariesofinstagram #bookishescape #readingforfun 🗝️ bookstagram • reader • book stack

My reading goal for 2024 is 52 books! Book #34 is Poor Tom Is Cold (Murdoch Mysteries) by Maureen Jennings Detective Murdoch is the first on the scene and finds Constable Oliver Wicken dead. It looks like the constable has taken his own life, but Detective Murdoch doesn't think this is the case. While investigating, he comes across a young woman being taken to the insane asylum. He thinks that she may have answers, but her family claims otherwise. Are these two cases connected? Let’s do a quick little tag! :) When I saw this it was just called the “reader’s tag” What genre do you read the most? - It’s lit fic (I think everyone knows this by now lol) but based on how this year is going I actually have a small feeling that by the end of the year it might be classics! What time of day do you read the most? - I mostly read in the day, which is weird because I’m a huge night person. In what form do you read books faster? - I read ebooks fastest. I know a lot of people read audiobooks fastest and I can’t relate to that at all. How long does it take you to finish a book? - As long as I don’t put a book aside for a while in the middle of reading it (which I do…… a lot lol) it usually takes two days. Do you listen to music while reading? - I can’t do that. It’s way too distracting even if it’s calm and instrumental. . . . . . . . . #readersofig #readersofinstagram #readmore #booksonbooks #readingforfun #ireadbooks #iread #readingtime #readabook #readallday #bookworm #bookish #bookishgirl #bookstoread #avidreader #booksbooksandmorebooks #booksandbooks #readallthebooks #bibliophile #bookwormlife #readingisfundamental #readingisfun #readingislife #readersgonnaread #ilovebooks #bookswap #bookswaps #booknerd #booktag #bookchallenge

🏑Sleet Princess by @sjtillyauthor It feels like I read the original 3 books of this series a lifetime ago but Luke's story was so worth the wait! What a delight this was to land on my kindle 😍 The Blizz scene is 🤣 Book blurb: My trip to Mexico for my cousin’s wedding was only supposed to be a few days of obligation and oceanside. I wasn’t expecting Luke. Wasn’t expecting the hot hockey player, with the smirks and the tattoos, who kept bumping into me. And I certainly wasn’t expecting to spend a night on the beach, under the stars, underneath him. It was magical, but I thought it would end there. Instead, we exchanged numbers and stayed in touch. So when Luke invited me to watch him play in Vegas, I went. And it was great. Until we woke up the next morning and found the wedding certificate in my pocket. Turns out that dance party we snuck into was actually a group wedding ceremony. And now we’re married. Which is bad. Because I think our wedding was actually our first date. And if my dad finds out, he’ll cut me out of the family business. So when footage leaks of Luke and me hot and heavy in an elevator, I have to make up a new plan to save my reputation and career. Now, all I need is for Luke Anders to act like he’s madly in love with me. Should be easy.

The Library of Borrowed Hearts by Lucy Gilmore ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bethany's Review: What an adorable idea for a story. Chloe, a librarian, finds a rare book at a flea market, she purchases it. When her older neighbor, Jasper demands he buys it from her for a lot more than she paid, she decides to look in the book. Chloe finds love notes in the margins between two lovers, one of whom is Jasper. How many more are floating around? I enjoyed the dual timeline between present day and the 1960’s. There is a lot of trauma that many characters have to overcome. I didn’t agree with all of the decisions and choices the characters made. Some parts of the story dragged on, while other parts I wanted longer. With all that said, who doesn’t love a story about books and love? Sara's Review: Wow, what an emotional roller coaster this book took me on. I absolutely adored it! The characters were charming and sweet. Their stories were heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. I loved the connection to books. I loved the multiple stories of love and heartbreak through the entire story. I loved the story around family and how the meaning of family changes from person to person. The love story in the past that is brought into the present when they are an old man and woman. The love story between a young couple. The trauma that family can bring a person. I just adored it all. The main characters and supporting characters were all incredible. They were real, they were flawed and they were amazing. This book made me laugh and cry and smile. Just a wonderful story - with stories woven into it! QOTD: Do you use your local library? Book 24 of 2024- Hooked by Emily McIntire 🍻 James helps run the seedy underbelly of Bloomsburg. He is the righthand man of the leader of a drug empire and runs a bar called the Jolly Roger. After the death of his parents and he was sent to live with an abusive uncle, his life became hard. He blames it all on one man Peter Michaels. When Peter’s daughter naïve Wendy shows up, he sees his chance to seek revenge on Peter. It also helps that he finds her very attractive. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5💫 📚 I truly did enjoy this book more than I thought I would. I like the concept, a dark romance based on the villains of some of our favorite fairytales/classic stories. I loved how this wasn’t a straight retelling and more of just little nods to Peter Pan. I also really enjoyed that it was also completely realistic with no magical elements. The smut is smutting in this one, but it does have an instant love and instant forgiving that I do not love. I know that is kinda the name of the game in dark romance which is why it will never be my favorite genre. Others love this book and I 100% see why some people connect to the themes. I would 100% read other books in this series because the concept is so interesting. 📖 The 52 Book Club Challenge 2024- “A Revenge Story”

Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie 4.5⭐️ Skye left Philly on the first thing smoking when she turned 18, returning to recharge for only a few weeks between destinations, but when a bit of the past catches up with her, she has to decide if the life she's living is actually the life she wants. Skye has to be one of the most socially awkward and hilarious nearly middle aged characters I've ever read. She is incredibly flawed, but that's what makes watching her grow so captivating. I loved the irreverent writing style, with occasional breaks in the 4th wall, and how I could see all the scenes playing out so clearly. The side characters were pretty well developed, and Vicky is hilarious! I was barking laughter and nearly doing spit takes, and just about ready to cry a few pages later. The story is a little slow moving, but that worked for me in this context, and I would happily read another book by this author. Thanks for the recommendation @allthebooksalltheways! QOTD: Have you ever had a conversation about an event from your past, and realized that you remember it very differently from the other person?

Spoilery. 🌿 Szczerze, to niespecjalnie porwała mnie ta książka.

📖: THE REMAINS OF THE DAY by Kazuo Ishiguro #bookreview Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦’𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘬? As he journeys through the English countryside on his 6 day roadtrip to visit an old friend, he reminisces about England’s history during the 1920’s and 1930’s, as well as his own life experiences. 💭 MY THOUGHTS: I read Never Let Me Go a few years back, and really fell in love with the way Kazuo Ishiguro’s stories provoke thoughtful discussion. This book is quite different from Never Let Me Go, but the narrative is equally compelling. This is more of a slow burn, but I did enjoy Stevens’ drive through the English countryside and the pit stops he made along the way. I felt like it was the perfect backdrop for the contemplative mood of this novel. The ending broke my heart a little bit 🥹, but Stevens’ optimism is truly remarkable and his resilience is something to be applauded. This is such a simple, yet beautifully written novel about a life unlived, words unsaid, and the regrets we carry in our hearts. ❓ There’s an argument in the book that evening is the best time of day. What is your favorite time of the day? ❓What book will you be reading this weekend? . . . . . . . 🏷️ #theremainsoftheday #kazuoishiguro #bookerprizewinner #literaryfiction #modernclassics #readinglist #bookthoughts #cozybookvibes #booksinthewild #booksiread #diversifyyourbookshelf #backlistbooks #readingforfun

Moon of the Crusted Snow is INCREDIBLE! Obtain it immediately and read it! I found it extremely realistic dystopian fiction - what would happen to a northern reserve with no road access if suddenly utilities and all contact with the south ended? No one knows what is going on, but they must deal with the fallout and eventually the arrival of outsiders. I am impressed that the band had a stockpile of non-perishable food to distribute, as well as diesel and gasoline - and wonder if, in reality, any level of government is prepared. Even those of us with well stocked freezers would be in trouble in short order with no electricity in our modern homes - in this imaginary reserve the homes all still have wood stoves because they just recently got connected to the power grid. @waub Waubgeshig Rice is an amazing storyteller, and Billy Merasty was great as a narrator for the audiobook. I had received book two for Christmas, so I wanted to read book one first and I'm glad I did!

Happy Friday! What are you reading to kick off this spring weekend? I’m halfway through You Dreamed of Empires by Álvaro Enrigue, translated by Natasha Wimmer. Enrigue presents an alternate reality of Hernán Cortes and his band in Tenochtitlan where they don’t exactly march out of the city in triumph. I’m finding my background in pre-1600 CE Mesoamerican studies and Hispanic language and history very helpful. (Although Enrigue’s note to his translator Wimmer has some explanation of Nahuatl pronunciation, for those unfamiliar with that language as well as the Mayan and/or Spanish Enrigue stresses the need to rely on context clues to determine, for example, what Moctezuma means by “cahuayos.” There is a glossary of characters but not terms, a deliberate choice.) There is something appropriately meta about reading in translation this story featuring two translators (each with different languages and cultures). [Image description: A library hardcover copy of You Dreamed of Empires, with the front half of a brown horse amongst green and blue swirled lines, rests at an angle next to a beagle mix dog.] #Bookstagram #IgReads #InstaBooks #BooksOfIg #Books #BooksBooksBooks #Read #Reading #ReadingForFun #Bookworm #BookNerd #BookLove #Bibliophile #MomsWhoRead #WhatsMommyReading #DogsOfBookstagram #BooksAndDogs #DogsAndBooks #DogsAndCurrentlyReading #LibraryBook #CurrentlyReading

The Three of Us by Ore Agbaje-Williams - A young wife is caught between her (jealous?) best friend and her (controlling?) husband. The story is crackling with tension as it unwinds in the distinct voices and perspectives of each player in the game for the wife’s loyalty and devotion. This book is a delicious tasty treat, with a biting aftertaste zing. 🍷📚 #books #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookinstagram #readmorebooks #readingcommunity #readingforfun #read #bookreview #booklover #bibliophile #readingforpleasure #bookreviews #instabook #bookrecommendations #readersofinstagram #bookcommunity #allaboutbooks #fridayreads #weekendreads #weekendreading #fridayreading #myweekendisallbooked

I had high expectations and he did NOT disappoint. ⁣ ⁣ I love Ellis’ writing due to the many plot twists that just keep attacking you as you read. There’s never a slow moment, and his characters are so well throughout out. Leo has so many levels to his character. He was a compulsive liar, too smart for his own good, and blindly loyal to those he loves. He was my favorite character for sure!! ⁣ ⁣ The book has duel time line and 3 POVs, which sounds like a lot but it was written so well! I didn’t have any trouble following along with each character and it was all understood by the end of the book. ⁣ ⁣ If you love a book that keeps you at the edge of your seat, a book that’s impossible to put down, and has SO my plot twists that make your head spin? Book review 📚 Life of Pi by Yann Martel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After seeing this in the theatre and absolutely loving it I couldn’t not not read the book. I thought the ideas behind the story were so interesting, and the idea of choosing our own story fascinating. It’s truly a really interesting read. QOTD: Happy Friday! How has your week been? —— One boy, one boat, one tiger.... British comedian, actor and broadcaster Sanjeev Bhaskar, OBE performs this brilliant edition of a work of fiction that is loved by fans around the world. After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, a solitary lifeboat remains bobbing on the wild, blue Pacific. The only survivors from the wreck are a 16 year-old boy named Pi, a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orangutan - and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. The scene is set for an extraordinary adventure.

Thanks so much to @angryrobotbooks for sending me the copy of The Knife and the Serpent by Tim Pratt, @tim.pratt . My review will follow on 28th June, as scheduled. Blurb: An epic space opera from bestselling and award winning author Tim Pratt, perfect for fans of Peter F. Hamilton and Adrian Tchaikovsky. After her grandmother is murdered in a home invasion, Tamsin Culver leaves her cushy programming job in San Francisco and returns to her Midwestern hometown to settle the estate. What she doesn’t expect is to find out her grandmother’s life changing secret: She’s not an earth native, but an exile from the Nigh-Space continuum, an adjacent reality with technology far more advanced than ours. What’s more, her grandmother ruled as an ogliarch, meaning Tamsin is the heir to a vast wealth only accessible by someone from her bloodline... but the enemies who tried to exterminate her family won’t be happy to see her return. Back in the Bay Area, grad student Glenn makes a startling discovery about his girlfriend Vivy. She’s a secret agent for the Interventionists: an inter dimensional organisation devoted to protecting the inhabitants of Nigh-Space from those trying to take advantage of the wealth of technology. When she lands in trouble, Glenn finds himself on a sapient starship in a distant level of the continuum, hell bent on saving her. But when the ancestor of a previously exiled ruler returns, keeping each other out of harm’s way may be harder than they first anticipated. The Knife and the Serpent is an all new epic space opera about the clash between opposing universes and worldviews, from award winning and highly acclaimed author Tim Pratt. #fatguyreading #bookstagammers #bookstagramuk #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookstagrammersunite #bookstagramit #bookreader #booksbooksbooks #readingbooks #readbooks #readwhatyouwant #readstagrammer #readingforfun #readerfriends #readingstagram #readingaddict #bookreviews #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookreviewers #bookreviewer #bookreviewing #angryrobotbooks #timpratt #timprattwriter

BOOK REVIEW 🌸📚 AUTHOR - HOLLY JACKSON RATING - ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨4.3/5 Genre - young Adult literature 🌑In "The Reappearance of Rachel Price" Author takes the Readers to an enthralling journey about a girl determined to uncover the shocking truth about her missing mother. 🌑 In the beginning I thought it was going to a rip off of good girl's guide to murder but the author managed to keep them separate. BOOK REVIEW💐 AUTHOR - RICK RIORDAN RATING - ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨4.7/5 Genre - Fantasy Adventure 🌑 In Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters; Rick Riordan takes readers on an exhilarating journey through the Epic Heroes and Legendary Adventures. The Story begins with the nightmare or monsters or the shadow at the window and makes the readers stick to the novel upto the end. 🌑Rick's narrative is rich in detail and there are so many Percabeth moments. Tyson was a great addition to this universe. I also loved and hated the fact that Percy kind of started to disown Tyson because everyone was bullying Percy for having Tyson as a character. 🌑Percy narrates the whole book with attitude and jokes. Sometimes, I can't help but laugh, and it can be embarrassing when someone else is in the room. This book is amazing, and if you read it, I'm sure you'll agree. 🌑Percy skillfully weaves together elements of fiction, action and Adventure, keeping Readers on the egde of their seats with each twist and turn of the plot. The pacing is brisk, with plenty of heart - pounding moments that will leave readers eager to turn the page. I enjoyed reading this book and is highly recommended. . . . . When he came back to his room, he looked over to Rita’s house. Or rather, their caravan. The blue light from her father’s small TV shone through the window in the front. They had a table and two chairs there. In the back, where the beds were, Rita turned her lamp on and off. He smiled and did the same. Their messaging system since they were small. “Goodnight, Sis. ⭐️ BOOK REVIEW ⭐️ 🐅 Book: The Marriage Portrait 🐅 Author: Maggie O’Farrell 🐅 Description: Set in 1550s Italy, The Marriage Portrait tells the story of a young girl, the third daughter of a grand duke. She is different from her siblings - observant and questioning and curious in nature. At a time when the duties of a female is to fill the nursery of the palazzo with children, and the duties of a male is to marry off his daughters into well-off families, Lucrezia challenges what is expected of her and focuses her energies on exploration and art. When her sister passes on the eve of her arranged wedding to the Duke of Ferrara, Lucrezia is forced to step into her sister’s place and continue with the plan to unite the two families. Women are merely pawns, and power plays the utmost role in their society. The Marriage Portrait is exceptional because of Lucrezia. The character development is tremendous, especially as you experience all of these changes and dangers right along with her. She is still a girl yet she’s expected to perform her duties as a duchess, including producing an heir. Lucrezia is smart, resilient, determined and clever, and it is these qualities that will determine her survival in a world where women never have the upper hand. This book was such an easy 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. It was like nothing I had ever read before and I appreciated all the fine details that made it possible to imagine the environment and the situations Lucrezia is put in. I’ve recommended this book to so many people and will continue to do so as it has become one of my favorite historical fiction reads to date. I found this book in the @littlefreelibrary outside our gym, so thank you to whatever kind reader dropped in there and altered my life a bit! #themarriageportrait #paperback #maggieofarrell #fiction #historicalfiction #bookclub #florence #italy #literaryfiction #fivestars #5stars #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booksbooksbooks #reader #bookreview #bookrecommendation #bookrecommendations #goodreads #bookreviews #bookreviewer #bookrecs #readingforfun #bookcommunity #readingcommunity #bookrecommender

. The culmination of an outstanding piece of work - Cosgrove's soul trilogy really is something to devour, treasure and celebrate. After Detroit in ‘67 and Memphis in ‘68 comes Harlem in ‘69. As before the level of detail is stunning and any music fans dream. Stories, anecdotes and characters so rich they could only be real flow from the pages. Again it’s the marrying, balancing and comparisons made between the music, culture and politics of the time that make this set of books so compelling. Enjoy.
