🧡 Interesting fact from the filming of the film "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" : Johnny Depp tried to dye his red hair after "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" into my usual dark chestnut color using some product from the hotel hair salon, but it didn't work. Johnny dyed his hair red because the character Gilbert Grape reminded him of a guy named Bones he knew in his youth. Kostya, Johnny’s longtime friend, saved Depp’s life. They tried to fan the fire (like in a circus). They wrapped a gasoline-soaked T-shirt around a pole, then set it on fire and released the gasoline from their mouths. It looked impressive until Johnny's face lit up and he took off running. It was Bones who knew what to do. He ran his hands over Johnny's face to extinguish the flames. His eyelashes and part of his hair were burned off. Here are the last two books I read and my honest review of them ☺️ Local Woman Missing by @marykubica This one keeps you on the edge of your seat! Woven between multiple POVS, and past vs. present timelines, this book makes you desperate for any and all answers! The twists and turns are so unexpected and shocking, you won’t be prepared for any of it! 😝 Will take about 7-10 business days to recover from 🫣 What’s Eating Gilbert Grape by Peter Hedges This book came recommended to me by my mom! Shoutout to all moms that are readers! 🫶 She was the one who showed me the movie for the first time, so I was shocked to learn that the movie was based on a book. 😅 Maybe I am behind on the times … I never thought I would say this, but the movie is a better adaption of what this story is truly supposed to be. Book Gilbert is mean, and horrible to not only his family, but also his friends. Super excited about my April reads! I took a trip to the fancy bookstore @brewer_bookstore for most of these. Treated myself as a late birthday present. I got The Heights at the library, because I recently watched What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. 🍇 made me 😭 I started reading it while subbing in high school English, and I adored it. I read about 55 pages. Didn’t own it. So I skipped a step, and watched the movie. They didn’t have it at the library, but I decided something by Peter Hedges sounded like a grand idea.
