Erm. Where has the spring weather gone! I thought I’d finished wearing thicker cardis? But nope! On the plus side; the Baltic breeze gave me an excuse to wear my ‘new to me’ teddy fleece coat (which goes perfectly with this Primarni lipstick… Since I’ve put weight on, my old coat no longer fits, and I’ve been after a new one all winter. Mr J spotted this one on eBay & bought it for me! It’s made by @damartuk would you believe! It’s really warm & it has the added benefit of not having a zipper - zipped coats are so difficult to manage when you’re sat down. Firstly, it’s very hard to pull a zip up when the zipper isn’t pulled straight (try it sitting down, it’s nigh on impossible) and zipped coats are designed for the wearer to be stood. Soon as you sit down, they’re impossibly tight round your thighs etc - whereas with buttons, I can leave the bottom button undone & still have my coat done up all the way to the top! There you go, another wee insight into the hidden difficulties of a wheelie! And on a random note, went postbox spotting again with Mr J & found this GR V box just off Ashby Rd nearly opposite the university college. I thought I’d bring a burst of colour to a dull day for @frockupfriday with a theme of ‘put a flower on it’s. Did I deliver? I think so lol! ! Had a morning of getting stuff sorted today - Mr J & I went to the Council Hub & went through the process of getting another disabled persons bus pass. Remember when we went on the tram in Sheffield on Monday, well that lovely conductor who let me travel for free as it is at the conductor’s discretion if a disabled person hasn’t got a bus pass. He made me pinky promise (no really, he actually did) that I would go & get a bus pass sorted out. So I’ve kept my word! Apparently the new bus pass should arrive next week sometime! Anyway on the way back home from town, spotted another fabulous GR VI postbox! It’s less than a mile from the local delivery office which was built in GR VI’s reign & has the cipher on the tiles of the exterior of the building - I think it’s a listed building. Took Lola to the groomers with a little help. She was getting a bit Gandalf. I absolutely love having dogs, they’ve changed my life for the better. She has also alerted me to medical problems and can bark for help if I’m ever stuck. And obviously she’s a wonderful companion when I’m stuck in bed. They never judge us about our disabilities. So it was a nice but quick afternoon with @terencher. I'll post one of us together soon. However, it remains difficult because I had to miss some events today I really wanted to participate in, and i've also missed a few other things recently. I wanted to go to a terrific arts festival here in town, and also stop by the Pride celebration near the festival. However, with my skin still slowly toughening up, and me having a lot of activities I want to do starting at the end of the month, I have to conserve my sitting. Not quite as glorious start to the day the day, but it’s still been a lovely day! I’ve done some busying in the garden with my PA this morning - tied up all the new growth of my 2 clematis plants & managed to pull back lots of dried up died back stuff from last year in the raised beds. Thoroughly enjoyed having an hour outside in the garden. True to form, totally overdid & painy as f*ck now - but it was worth it! I was frustrated not to be able to manage to get to the rose bush & tie that on to the wire across the wall. But I really do feel grateful for having a PA, even though being an employer has its stresses, it’s truly life changing & it allows me to have a sense of autonomy that’s not possible if you have agency carers! Finally another sit down vs stood up. This one I think is better sat down. I honestly just love this cropped jumper for the wheelchair it’s the perfect cut. Managed to try out my cars self driving today and I so don’t trust it but it’s a great feature and should make driving a lot better. It only works on motorways so I still have to do some driving. What a glorious morning, blue skies & sunshine! Long may it last! And don’t these colours sing in the light? Also just wanted to reflect on how far I’ve come in terms of body acceptance. A few years ago I’d have never shared a photo close up of a necklace, where my scars from two surgeries are visible. In fact, I used to wear scarves even in summer to hide them (to be fair, they did look angry for years & I had so many ignorant comments and stares, that it was partly self preservation!) but now, I don’t even care that my scars are visible! And lastly, joining in with @thenicethingsfairy #WowLipsWednesday with my No7 deep fuchsia lippy! When I was in my 20s I loved a pink lipstick, until someone said that they make your teeth look yellow. So I stopped. However the 50 something me, says, so what! Most people of white background do have teeth that aren’t bright white. Why be embarrassed by our perfectly normal teeth?
