In honor of Wilderness Lodge becoming the champion of the WDW Resort March Madness tournament that has been running in my stories this month, it's time for our first-ever Resort Spotlight post! Wilderness Lodge is a Deluxe resort located in the Magic Kingdom area, but not on Seven Seas Lagoon and not on the monorail loop. Instead, it's just around the corner on Bay Lake. You can reach the Magic Kingdom (or the Contemporary Resort or Fort Wilderness) by boat, and take busses to all other theme parks. Where does Wilderness Lodge shine? Theme! It feels like a grand national parks lodge, dialed up to 11. The lobby is one of the most impressive (and at the same time, potentially most relaxing) of any Walt Disney World resort. Sit in front of the 82-foot-tall stone fireplace, listen to the indoor spring that feeds the "mountain stream" that turns into the pool complex, and you'll feel like you're in the middle of ... the wilderness ... instead of bustling Orlando. There are also excellent food options at Wilderness Lodge. Storybook Dining at Artist Point is home to Snow White and some of her dwarf pals, and it's also where I got the one entree I reminisce about more than any other at Disney - a slow-braised pork shank that was perfection. Whispering Canyon Cafe is an energetic and filling meal that the whole family will love. And Roaring Fork doesn't slouch as a counter service option. Add in Territory Lounge and Geyser Point Bar & Grill, and you could eat at this resort for your entire trip and leave happy. Bonus points - Wilderness Lodge being just a short boat ride away from Fort Wilderness means that you have access to more recreation options than any other resort. ✨ Today on our YouTube Channel, we are having breakfast at Wilderness Cafe with our amazing friends Sachi and Fordy! We’re also doing a bit of exploring around the Wilderness Lodge, and heading to Disney Springs to pick up some treats from Gideon’s! Link to the channel is in our bio and our stories :) ✨ James and I both loved our meals at Whispering Canyon. I had the Western Benedict, James had an omelette, and we shared the most amazing salad! We were all highly entertained by the zany antics that happened throughout the restaurant (“we need ketchup!!”), and also impressed that despite the chaos, it was quite easy to maintain a conversation throughout the meal. I would definitely go back here again! ✨ After parting ways with Sachi and Fordy, James and I explored some of the main areas of the Lodge, before we headed over to Disney Springs. This was the last day of the first leg of our Disney trip, so we wanted to pick up some Gideon’s to bring to our families while we visited for Christmas. We picked up a half dozen cookies (including my favourite - the Kris Kringle cookie, a slice of the cinnamon roll cake, and the special coal cookie bites that came in a fancy velour bag. What is a #rundisney race without post-race brunch? Here’s our spread from after the Princess Half! In addition to hijinks, Whispering Canyon Cafe is famous for its all-you-care-to-enjoy (read: eat) skillets. Now, normally I’m not an all-you-can-eat kinda gal, but the skillet deal is actually pretty decent: at the time of this writing, $26 per plate. Standalone entrees clock in as high as $24; a single biscuit side will run you $5.50. Judged by inherently warped Disney standards, the skillets are a steal. To accompany this breakfast feast, we all three splurged on the mimosa flight. Bonus: they were technically out of the fancy serving boards and glasses, but the kitchen magically found some for us! But if you are extremely sensitive to sarcasm and jokes, this may not be for you 🤷♀️. We love it! And when my kid said that he wanted to go someone for his birthday that he would be the center of attention we knew this was the place. 🍳 We have had all you can eat skillets that are GF, GF/DF, and GF/vegan and all are delicious. 🍳 If there’s an item you want that is not marked GF please ask about it. Chances are it can be modified! 🍅 If you ask for ketchup, be prepared for a surprise! 🤫 🌽 This is the allergy friendly cornbread and is so so good!! It's rustic and cozy and has, of course, touches of Disney throughout each room! You're going to love it! 🌄 🛌 Let's start with the rooms: Wilderness Lodge has 3 main buildings. These offer traditional rooms that sleep up to 4 to Villas and cabins. Some with full kitchens, washer/dryer, up to 3 bedrooms and 2 baths! You have a lot of choices here and Boulder Ridge & Copper Creek have a lot to offer for larger families/groups. No matter what building you choose to stay in you still get all the amenities that Wilderness Lodge offers! 🏊🏼♀️So let's discuss those amenities, they have 2 pools here, one with a 67 foot slide & a new children's water play area. There are bike rentals and fishing excursions available. Movie under the stars and even a fun arcade for kids and adults! 🍔🍽️ The food here is a huge bonus too! Storybook Dining at Artisan Point is a character meal where you can meet Snow White, some of the Dwarves & the Evil Queen. The restaurant feels pretty magical, it's like you are in a forest. Whispering Canyon & Roaring Fork serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer a lot of food options. And if you want to venture out , just take a water taxi to The Contemporary and grab a meal at Steakhouse 71 or California Grill. 🚤🚐 Your transportation here will be the water taxi and the busses. It was a great break from the day, and the food was fantastic. 🤤 My son got one of the all you care to enjoy skillets (perfect for a teenage boy who has a seemingly endless appetite!), my daughter got the waffle, my husband actually got the kid’s chicken with green beans and potatoes, and I got the chopped bison burger - which is often in contention for best burger on property. 😂 While we didn’t stay at Wilderness Lodge, it was fun to explore a little bit as we arrived early for our reservation. Disney World, Day 4 (12/05/2023) - Wilderness Lodge. @nipakimm and I spent much of that day at Magic Kingdom while her parents and our Evelyn rested, and then we all drove over to Wilderness Lodge for a very unique and fun dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe! 1) Wilderness Lodge is so beautiful during the holidays, especially the lobby. 2) Food at Whispering Canyon Cafe is delicious AND all-you-can-eat! 3) Ask for both ketchup and straws. 😝😜 4) Servers are so sassy and quirky. Christmas Time is special around the Disney area since they definitely go over the top to create a great holiday feel. This is a visit to the Wilderness Lodge, and the dining is at Wispering Canyon Cafe. This BBQ spread is all you can handle, but it fills you up quickly. The meal includes Chicken, Ribs, and Brisket accompanied by some yummy fixings. Day 2 of our Family Holiday Walt Disney World Adventures! 🏰 We kicked off at Magic Kingdom, zooming straight to Space Mountain at rope drop! Then, guess what? We snagged boarding group 12 for Tron in the virtual queue! Talk about luck! 🍀 Next up, we turned into galactic heroes at Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and chilled on the People Mover (aka one of my FAVE rides). Adventureland called next, where we sailed the high seas on Pirates of the Caribbean (walked right on! 🏴☠️) and hopped onto the Jingle Cruise with our Lightning Lane Pass. Couldn't resist a classic Dole Whip 🍦, soared on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and chilled with the birds at the Tiki Room. Lunch at Casey’s Corner before we enjoyed the festive vibes of the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. Met the one and only Mickey Mouse 🐭, then zipped back to the resort for a quick breather before hopping over to Epcot. 🌐 Dinner was a slice of Italy at Via Napoli (and a big slice that was 🤣), followed by a breathtaking flight on Soarin' over California and Spaceship Earth. Capped the night with the mesmerizing Luminous fireworks. Today's a "rest" day (yeah, right! 😂). Kicking off with breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe (note to self: don't ask for ketchup! 🍅😉), then a tour of the resort's holiday displays - Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort, here we come! Whispering Canyon Cafe, at the Wilderness Lodge, is my new favorite place to eat. Be careful of what you wish, you may get exactly what you want. Noah asked for ketchup, and got every bottle of ketchup out on the floor. I made a little fort out of all the straws that we received. Anna Claire used the check as a scarf, it was so long. The rowdy bunch of Cast Members at the Cafe will be sure to cook up the best eatin for your party and maybe even get up to some real shenanigans while they are at it! Don’t be surprised if you are told you need to wrangle up your own ketchup for your meal- the fastest way is just to shout 📣“KETCHUPPPPP!” and soon one of the other patrons will mosey on over to your table with every bottle in the room at your disposal 🥫🤠 . The food is also plenty impressive at this here cafe. The All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Signature Skillets are so delicious, I had the The Carnivore Skillet 🍖🥓 and I DEVOURED the House Made Cornbread with Honey Butter 🤤 . Of course, it’s not brunch without a mimosa 🍹so I had to get the Mimosa Flight 💅🏻 (Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut with Pomegranate, Blood Orange, and Minute Maid® Passion-Orange-Guava and Orange Juices). . It was a late night last night at EPCOT but we finally made it to Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for the final resort of our trip. Maybe not as Grand as Disney Grand Floridian but equally as majestic. We love the outdoorsy feel here and Mike calls it his Man-Castle. It shines extra bright during the holidays with beautiful decorations and that down home cozy Pacific Northwest lodge feel. The dining here is fantastic with one of the most hard to get meals, Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White, a fun filled meal at Whispering Canyon that is anything but quiet and you never leave hungry, to Roaring Fork the quick service location. But one of our favorite places to eat here is Geyser Point. It’s right on the lake with stunning views and great food. The rooms are wonderful themed to the resort but with all the modern conveniences. One of the biggest perks of staying here is the boat access to Magic Kingdom.
