When I was 3 my mum and dad took me to WDW and there are a few memories I have that I will treasure for the rest of my life. One of those was dancing with Dopey after he’d picked me in a parade. Wilderness Lodge is the most underrated resort at Walt Disney World! This resort is so laid back, but it’s a just a short boat ride from Magic Kingdom! And– there are even rooms with Fireworks and potentially Cinderella Castle views too. Who would have guessed that? Although close to Magic Kingdom, the resort's name holds true. It's surrounded by trees to make its woodsy and the interior is cabin-like. It's so cozy with multiple fireplaces in the lobby and in some sitting areas on the room floors. The Copper Creek Springs pool was small, but fitting with the size of the resort. My kids report that although the waterslide may have look short, it was better than they expected. The rooms were perfectly themed too and a great fit for our family. Unfortunately, these rooms max out at guests. While we enjoyed the offerings at the Old Faithful Club during our stay, we've frequently visited the resort for food! Whispering Canyon is at the top of our family's favorite list and we loved hearing “We need ketchup” as we walked through the lobby. We've also previously enjoyed Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White and friends and the two quick service options at the resort as well. There is no shortage of deliciousness available! So now I'm wondering why I took me 8 years to finally stay here (not counting a quick one night stay at the Copper Creek Villas). This time there was time to explore and enjoy. It’s America’s National Park week and I would say I love visiting our National Parks as much as theme parks. Wilderness Lodge, one of my favorite resorts at Walt Disney World has many references to our Western National Parks. One of them I was just able visit a month ago at the Grand Canyon. Inside Bright Angel Lodge you will find a beautiful fireplace designed by famed park architect Mary Colter. It showcases the different geological layers of the canyon.
