We dined in the Enchanted Forest in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge at Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White, Grumpy, Dopey, and The Queen. We started the meal with shared appetizers of Hunter’s Terrine, Wild Mushroom Bisque and Wicked Shrimp Cocktail, enjoyed libations such as the Enchanted Apple and chowed down on the Magic Mirror’s Slow-braised Pork Shank and A Stroll Through Nature Gnocchi. Real talk: the Wilderness Lodge was beautiful, but didn’t deliver what I was expecting from my first deluxe resort stay. ⬇️ For the record, I’m so grateful to be able to stay at ANY of the Disney hotels! That said, I’ve stayed at several different Disney properties & had MUCH better experiences at the moderate and value resorts. 🌲 I was stopped 2x by Cast Members on my way in the front doors to confirm my name & reservation before I even made it to the check-in desk. I was asked to wait to go in until they confirmed. That seemed odd to me. If it was meant to be a more tailored welcome experience, it felt quite the opposite! 🌲 My room was right next to the elevator & stairs. it sounded like grand central station all morning and night 😵💫. I thought about requesting a different room, but it was a solo stay, & I’d have hated for a family with kids to have to deal with that in my stead. 🌲 I felt a little out of place on the 2nd floor, only accessible by the one elevator bank “past the bathrooms,” as the Cast Member said. 😅 I was a little bummed to not get the same guest experience as everyone that got to use the stately main elevators. 🌲 I expected a little more from the toiletries. At Coronado Springs’ Gran Destino Tower, there was a full complement of items at the ready, including aloe, 2 soap bars, a vanity kit, mouthwash…it was awesome! At WL there was a bar of soap & a semi-full bottle of lotion. I was surprised by the difference! I know that part of the charm of a deluxe resort is the proximity to the parks & it was really nice to be able to take the water taxi over to the Contemporary. Incidentally, my 2nd floor room was also a short elevator ride away from the Roaring Fork quick service, so that was nice! All in all, I splurged a bit on this stay & it turns out I probably should have paid less & stayed at Coronado Springs! I’ve also had great experiences with preferred rooms at the value resorts. I like the cafeteria-style food courts, anyway! 😂 They tend to have many more allergy food options & a dedicated allergy order spot. If you’ve stayed at Wilderness Lodge, I’d love to hear about your experience! Was it worth the price tag for you?

I talk about renting Disney Vacation Club all the time, but what happens when something goes wrong and you can't make your reservation? 🤔 This happened to me a few months ago when I broke my leg just FOUR DAYS before I was supposed to check into the Copper Creek Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge! 😫 I immediately emailed the owner I had rented from, she called Disney for me, and even though they didn't have to, they gave her all her points back! Once upon a time, we had a fairy tale of a dinner at Story Book Dining at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort. 👑 Overall, we found this meal to be really good, and we loved the character interactions with the Evil Queen, Snow White, Dopey & Grumpy. This GF, dairy free, allergy-friendly & vegan dessert trio included: Fairy Tale Gooseberry Pie, "Rotted Apple" (aka plant-based brownie), and Chia Pudding with Pineapple. The Rotted Apple was by far Sarah's favorite of the three. 2️⃣ The appetizers were actually our favorite of the meal. This included: Hunters Meatball, Wild Mushroom Bisque, and Wicked Shrimp Cocktail. ⭐️ We told the chef that we loved the mushroom bisque so much that he brought us out two bonus cauldrons. So good! This soup does contain dairy, but they usually have a DF version (which is more like a consommé). 3️⃣ Magic Mirror’s Slow-braised Pork Shank was highly recommended by our server and the chef. It is gluten free but does contain dairy. ✅ It's marked GF and safe for Egg, Fish, Milk, Peanut/Tree Nut, and Soy Allergies on the allergy-friendly menu. Have you been to Story Book Dining? Secret Fireplace 🔥 I’m letting my favorite secret out! There is a hidden, cozy fireplace located on the second floor of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge! This spot was perfect when a thunderstorm hit during our trip- my little got a good snooze in and while Mama & Dada sipped on some Joffrey’s coffee.
