I am having a hard day. On days like today I like to look back at other hard times in my life I’ve overcome and Dopey/my first marathon is one that always reminds me I can do hard things. After falling at mile 10, calling my mom in DAK saying I want to quit, almost throwing up in the blizzard beach parking lot, and crying from Hollywood studios to the finish line, I did it. Marathon number 21 is done! @eugenemarathon is a great race, unfortunately this wasn’t my race. Due to some glute issues the last couple weeks and then consistent calf cramping (to the point of not being able to straighten my leg), I struggled, but I didn’t give up. There were many times that I wanted to quit, but I knew I was stronger physically and mentally to push through and get it done. 4:10:39 is by far my best, but it’s still another finish and I’m now going to pull back and restart my training from zero and work on taking better care of myself and getting stronger and faster. 5k day I wore the most impractical shoes, but they made the outfit. ZARINA from The Pirate Fairy movie! I’ve wanted to do Zarina for a while now, but the right race theme felt like it was never coming around. And then they announced the Neverland 5k. WHAT COULD BE MORE PERFECT?! While not everyone got my costume, those that did made wearing the boots all morning worth it. (But never again will I do the boots🤣) I love being a character that is rarely seen on the course and this was a blast! A Perfect Season ✨ 135.1 of the Happiest, most Magical Miles ✨ 16 races starting with Wine and Dine Weekend in November and ending at Springtime Surprise Weekend. 23 medals. A coast to coast flight. 15.5 costumes (remember that half of a half in Jan when I scrapped the costume pre race). While the “perfect season” is not officially recognized and is what you want it to be, I wanted to do it once as part of my marathon/Dopey farewell tour. And, well, perfect is the best way to describe what it was. ✨ Thank you to my husband @_berceli_ for supporting and encouraging me, and sometimes having to FOMO from home. Thanks to my mom for being willing to provide multiple full/partial race weekends of childcare. Thank you to this community, and the many friends we have made. We had such a Great time out on the course yesterday, it certainly had us feeling some sort of way about waiting to do it again. This course is really growing on me. My first runDisney race! Well, actually, my first race ever, and "race" probably isn't the word for what I did - but I did it. I completed the Adventure Is Out There 10K, as part of the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. The race, shirt, and medal were all themed for Pixar's "Up." This was a new Disney experience for me, and it was amazing! I see why people do these all the time, but I'm not sure I like the 3am bus ride or the 5am start. Disney does the whole thing right! DJs playing hype music to get you going, and character photo ops before and during the race. Also, entertainment all through the course, including a couple of bands and a full choir! I knew 10k was possible because that's literally a day in the park for me, just was worried about keeping pace and staying away from the balloon ladies. (IYKYK) And in the end, it was not a problem! Leading up to it, I was thinking, "What have I done!" but thanks to everyone who offered words of encouragement before during and after the race. I may actually do this again sometime. 💙🩵WEEK 2🩵💙 . Yes, I'm proud of this half marathon themed training visual but I'm more proud of the fact that I clocked in 13 miles this week (despite some personal life chaos) . I was a little surprised to find out Disney needed POT by July 1st which meant finding a half close to me before then. I have to be 1/2 ready by the first week in June and I have a goal time of 11:20 pace! . One thing I learned this week: running shoes or even properly fitted shoes make a world of difference. And so far I'm enjoying my @newbalancerunning 880s and @balega_international socks! . Milestone day… Not only did I complete another 19.3 miles and a challenge this weekend but I earned my 100th runDisney medal. If you would’ve told me when I ran that first race in 2015 where I’d be today, I’d say you’re insane. An awesome 8 (oops, 7 mile 😂)mile run where the second half was in a perfect rain. I enjoyed pretty much everything about this run. The strength exercises have really helped me and my lungs/heart are feeling like they are coming back. The suck it up phase is working. Sometimes life isn’t about thinking it through to make sure the decision you are making is the right one. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and leave it up to God.
