Вчера мы посетили замок Белёй, в котором одну неделю в году, уже более 30 лет, проходит фестиваль аммарилисов. На это время замок превращается в цветочное шоу с двумя тысячами амариллисов и шестьюстами орхидеями, выставленными в открытых для публики залах. Замок содержит впечатляющую коллекцию живописи XV-XIX веков, дорогую антикварную мебель, а также знаменитую библиотеку из 20000 книг. Дворцовый комплекс выглядит настолько впечатляюще, что прослыл в народе «бельгийским Версалем». Нас очень удивил портрет Екатерины Второй, висящий в одном из залов. Как оказалось, она была дружна с владельцами , семьёй де Линь. Рядом с замком раскинулся старинный парк, который был разбит еще в 60-х годах 17 века. His work has also taken him to Sudan, Nepal, Japan, and Uganda. Ash has trekked through the Himalayas and Sahara and been on micro-adventures at home, all on quests for meaning and purpose for his work and travel. Another wonderful night of storytelling at the @unionchapeluk, as @mothstories came to London Town for a MainStage show hosted by @ashbhardwaj. Ash first took to the Moth stage back in September 2017 (I’ve no idea where the time has gone either) when he joined the cast of storytellers to share a very personal and moving story about his relationship with his father. To see him back on the same stage several years later and this time hosting the entire show a week before his debut book hits the shelves was a lovely sight to see. A full house too. Traveling means embracing the unknown, including new languages. 🌍✈️ My adventure traveling in countries where you don’t speak the language started earnestly in Hong Kong and Thailand, where my attempts at Thai, though fledgling got me a mixture of smiles and bewilderment from locals. Despite the initial challenges, these experiences underscored a crucial lesson: the attempt to communicate in the local tongue, no matter how clumsy, is always appreciated – or can make for a good laugh at any rate. The takeaway is that people appreciate that you try to speak to them in their tongue. It is also a sign of respect (in my opinion). A new month 📆. New plans. More travel? ✈️🌍. I recently read a @newyorkermag post about travel (seems that the algorithms have guessed what my passion is 😂). A lot of us say we love travel but how much travel does the average person actually make time for? Many of you (including some of my clients reading this), reserve travel for “when I have X (fill in the blank with whatever you usually say), I’m going to travel.” I on the other hand have always been a believer in the here and now moments. So I decided to prioritze travel over some other creature comforts. I doubt I’ll ever say, geez, I shouldn’t have made that trip, instead I should have bought that new car. But that’s me. Travel to me means learning about the world 🗺️ we live in and the people that dwell in it. It’s about languages that I don’t always understand, foods 🥟 I’ve never tried before, places I’ve never heard of, and adventures that I may never have again 🗻. My family and I began a journey over 6 months ago to explore the world. While we most certainly can’t see it all - at least not to truly appreciate what we are seeing, it has been the adventure of a lifetime. It may well be hard to beat but I’m open to the next chapter. From there it was off to the impressive and imposing Punakha Dzong (fortress) built in 1637. Ended the day with a walk across the Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge. At 160 meters, it’s the longest suspension bridge in the country.
