The @ccdnigeria Centre for Citizens with Disabilities organized a two-day capacity-building workshop for aspiring politicians with disabilities to bolster the knowledge and capacity of PWDs on inclusive political participation, towards ensuring increased representation and participation of PWDs in governance. The two-day capacity building, titled “Leadership and Effective Participation in Politics for Persons with Disabilities,” was attended by notable PWDs in politics, relevant stakeholders, and the media. The presentation on Day 1 centered around Empowering Politicians with Disabilities: Enhancing Leadership Skills and Political Participation, which was facilitated by Mr. Kayode Afolabi Adeleye. The presentation explored the definition of effective leadership and the necessary skills of a good leader. He also shared examples of PWDs occupying political positions and his political progression. This was followed by an experience-sharing session on political participation, which featured Mr. Agbabiaka Yusuf discussing how he navigated the political hurdles in becoming a Ward Councilor. The Day 2 commenced with a recap and other opening rituals. Two presentations were given: Effective Participation in Politics and Governance, and Joining a Political Party: The Processes and Requirements, facilitated by Comrade Adewale Ayodele and Mrs. Temilade Akinade respectively. These presentations exposed PWDs to the fundament knowledge of political participation across all levels. The program came to a close with a closing remark delivered by Mrs. Florence Austin, where she appreciated the participants for their active participation throughout the capacity-building workshops. She also encouraged them to remain committed, resilient, and determined in their political aspirations. Today 19th April 2024 the executive of AAN Lagos hosted the management team of Project Enable Africa at our office and the meeting which lasted for an hour started with a review of our past collaboration and @projectenabled team rolled out their projects for the 2nd quarter of the year 2024 which includes 1.Business support 2. Data science training 3. Access 360 ( an open source platform for data collection of accessible facilities nationwide) . They also promised support for our International Albinism Day 2024 in the area of facilitation. We also discussed on the National Disability Act and awareness for PWDs Career support for our girls between the ages of 13 - 24 was also highlighted. Once the approval comes through this quarter our girls in that group would be briefed . In the last two decades, the share of refugees hosted in @oic.oci countries has increased by 11 percentage points. Zum wiederholten Male sind wir der Einladung des Fleckens Bad Bodenteich gefolgt und haben mit einer engagierten Gruppe von Bewohnern des DRK-Flüchtlingscamp Bad Bodenteich am Heideentkusseln tatkräftig zugepackt. Bodenteicher Bürger unter ihnen auch Bürgermeister Jörg Formella und Thomas Grams, sowie Flüchtlinge arbeiteten Hand in Hand und kamen so in einen guten gemeinsamen Austausch. Durch die intensive Pflege der Flächen im vergangenen Jahr und die tatkräftige Unterstützung der hungrigen #Schafherde 🐑, war der Arbeitsaufwand in diesem Jahr geringer als sonst üblich. „Wir werden in Deutschland gut aufgenommen. Das ist nicht selbstverständlich. Ob tej priložnosti se želim iz srca zahvaliti prav vsem humanitarnim organizacijam na Slovenskem ter vsem posameznicam in posameznikom, ki vsak dan in na različne načine pomagate ljudem v stiski. Humanitarne organizacije in humanitarni delavci rešujete življenja. Ko se zdi, da je vse izgubljeno, ste humanitarni delavci tisti, ki prvi ponudite roko solidarnosti in dokažete, da je človečnost vedno moč najti v srcih dobrih ljudi. Tako je tudi te dni, ko je veliko ljudi v Sloveniji v poplavah izgubilo vse, ostali pa sta neskončna človeška dobrota in solidarnost, kar sem občutila tudi ob obiskih na terenu. To je temelj za vse nadaljnje korake obnove. S svojim zgledom privabljate ljudi, da se vam pridružimo v tem plemenitem poslanstvu, ki je eden od civilizacijskih stebrov družbe. December 10th is designated as a Human Rights Day. This year, under the theme of freedom, equality, and justice for all, in my point of view, we must recognize the undeniable link between climate change and human rights. Climate change intensifies existing inequalities and threatens the fundamental rights of communities around the world. Climate migration and displacement are some of the most pressing examples of how climate change impacts human rights. Rising sea levels, natural disasters, droughts, and other climate-related events force millions of people to leave their homes and seek new opportunities elsewhere. This displacement often leads to a loss of livelihoods, economic vulnerability, and a range of other human rights challenges. The fight against climate change is, therefore, a fight for human rights. We must prioritize the rights of those most vulnerable to the effects of climate change and take concrete steps to address the root causes of this crisis.
