This is a great YA book and Choi does a great job of creating likable characters who you really come to know and love by the end. The story follows Penny and Sam. Penny has just moved away to start college at UT and meets Sam through her roommate, Jude. Penny witnesses Sam in a compromising position and helps him out with her ‘go bag’ skills which leads to them swapping numbers. Essentially becoming each other’s ‘Emergency Contacts’. It’s a great story filled with highs and lows as well as about finding your feet. It also details the ways teenagers and young adults treat their parents when they just want to be left alone and become independent. I know all of my students would enjoy this book.
