#hofmanm #lsd #libro #libri #libridaleggere #book #recensionilibri #recensionilibrivous #cresci_conme #frasidicioccolato #review #bookstagram #bookreviewer #bookblogger #svizzera

✨New Book Review✨ The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros✨ 3/5 ⭐️ 2/5 🌶️   I want to preface this review by saying two things. 1️⃣ I love Rebecca Yarros. Fourth Wing is one of my favorite books of all time. I’ve read some of her contemporary romance books as well and have enjoyed those. So, I wanted to read another. 2️⃣ I went into this book knowing that it was alternating timelines and that I wasn’t a huge fan of them in general.   All of that to say that, even though I love Rebecca, I wasn’t a huge fan of this one and I do wonder if it’s because of the alternating timelines. I feel like sometimes this can take away from each of the individual stories. I would start to get invested in one storyline, to be thrown into the other one. I understand why it was written the way it was for this book; however, I think we could have had two different books. Like a prequel to the main storyline.     I also couldn’t really connect with the characters in this one as much as the others. I balled my eyes out reading “The Last Letter” but this one, nothing. I couldn’t explain it. I will say that I did not see the ending coming and for some reason my mind went to the book “Atonement” (which I wasn’t a huge fan of) – I’m curious, did anyone else feel that way? All in all, not my favorite. . . . . 🏷️ #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookreviewblog #bookreviewblogger #bookreviewbloggers #bookblogger #bookbloggers #bookbloggersofig #bookbloggersofinstagram #honestreview #honestbookreview #honestreviews #honestreviewer #bookblog #bookblogging #contemporaryromancereads

This book wrecked me. I mean, I was ugly crying at the end, complete with snot running down my nose. I'm not typically a fantasy person, but this book completely drew me in and held me tight until I finished it. The characters are either loveable or hateable, the setting is richly described, and I couldn't get enough. If you happen to love fantasy and dragons. 😍 #bookstagram #bookreviewer #bookreview #bookish #booklove #bookworms #bookdragon #fourthwing

Meghan is an ICU nurse who becomes entangled in the lives of one of her patients, Caitlyn. Caitlyn is brought in after jumping from a bridge.. or as new information comes to life, possibly pushed. Meghan begins to realize that getting herself too involved could put both her and her daughter’s lives in danger. I was so excited for this book and it had twists for days! However, lots of the twists were such letdowns. I also felt the ending was very predictable and not sure I loved the way it came together. Instead of a jaw dropping moment, it was more like a wait what moment. Very anticlimactic despite twist after twist, however it somehow managed to keep me hooked all the way through. goodreads rating: 3.88⭐️ my rating: 3.5⭐️

📚Book Review 📚 4.5🌟 My favorite in the series so far. I love the mischievous Lee and the sweetheart Annie. I also love the pranks between the King’s and Sullivan’s. I would absolutely live in this sweet town. Lee and Annie have been friends for years. They seem to be the only ones convinced they will never make sense. But when they’re talked into a dating charity event for the town, maybe they find it could be fun to blur their careful boundaries. Lee was such a sweetheart I just loved this couple finding their way to one another. @authorlenahendrix #onechance #bookstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookreviewers #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookreviewblog #bookreviewblogger #romancebooks #romancereader #romancereads #booksbooksbooks #booknerd #booktok #romancebookstagram #booksbooksbooks #romancereadersofinstagram #booklover #booklovers #bookloversofinstagram #bookobsessed #bookofinstagram #bookobsession #bookaddict #bookaddiction #bookstagrammer #romancebookstagrammer #friendstolovers

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 On the surface, this is a sweet book about two people falling in love inside a magical apartment. But it’s also a meaningful story about grief and losing someone you love. It’s about how things and people change and how timing is crucial. Time is what gives us experience and helps us grow and it allows us to be the right person at the right time. It was slow at times, yes, but still very good imo because of the overall message. It’s not a fast-paced, over the top, steamy love fest, but a heartwarming, sweet story that gives hope and comfort to readers in similar circumstances. There is mention of suicide, but it’s not the main topic/theme and it’s in regards to a non main character. #bookstagram #booktok #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookrecommendation #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookworm #booknerd #books #book #reading #readmore #reader #bookcommunity #readingcommunity #romancebooks #romancereader #romancereads #romancefiction #romantasy #romantasybooks

Look at me go, a timely monthly wrap up. April was grand reading wise. A real variety of which all I mostly enjoyed. Some excellent buddy reads, some way behind buddy reads (which will hopefully appear in May when I finish the actual book), a few more IB chipped off the list - in total eight books read which is a hearty month for me. ♡ 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 ♡ 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙚 - a re-read but I feel I enjoyed this even more 2nd time around. Atwood’s crisp prose is biting and memorable. I hope to review this separately soon. 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞'𝙙 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 (reviewed) 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 - what a surprise this little gem was! It felt like a spooky blend of The Bell Jar and Beloved, which probably sounds odd but I’m sticking with it. 𝘼𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙢𝙣 - my first introduction to Ali Smith. A complete breath of fresh air, loved her style and cannot wait to pick up the next in the series when winter hits. ☆ 𝗘𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 ☆ 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙚 - Really enjoyed this for its historical significance and the echoes of Soviet struggles past to present. Review to come.. 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝘼 𝙍𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧 - I loved so much about this book but I was left wanting. I’m not sure if an element I was looking for was lost in translation, or lost in the short format? @my.reading.sanctuary and I chatted at length about this and I think a reread may be on the cards to see if we (i) can capture the essence of this book. Keen to chat about this more if anyone had similar feelings! 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨 (reviewed) ᯾ 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 ᯾ 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙩𝙡𝙖𝙨 𝙎𝙞𝙭 - great concept, very average execution BUT I’m hooked. I read this as a buddy read with @justheathersbooks and I think we both feel similarly about Blake’s writing. We are both keen to follow the storyline with The Atlas Paradox but are probably not sure why? Sorry team Blake. How was your April? Any stand out favs? (Because, you know, my TBR really needs more, right?) ♡☆᯾

📖 Read-a-long 📖 Question 2. Chapter 7. I don't think I would agree with LEAP being used to change your appearance or fix up health.  Whilst on the face of it, it seems like a good idea,  I think there would be too many ethical considerations. If we could cure all ill health,  then presumably we could effectively irradicate terminal illness.  But the world would quickly become over populated unless we regulated who could be saved. And who would make that decision? Maybe for minor illness and disabilities it would be OK.  In terms of changing appearance, it would have to be very strictly policed. Otherwise criminals could change their appearance at will. On a more basic cosmetic level, I can see why people would want to do that. I have things I hate about my appearance,  I think we all do. But I think it would ultimately lead to higher and higher beauty standards and we'd never be happy with how we look. I think that's starting to happen on a smaller scale with the prevalence of botox and similar procedures. Book title: ATOM INC Author: O.C Heaton Genre: Sci-Fi/Thriller/Mystery/Crime Synopsis: No one is above the Laws... Seven years after its conception, LEAP is finally about to spell the end of global warming. For Uma and Ethan, this means personal and professional triumph – but quantum teleportation is an unwieldy beast, held back by those fighting to dominate the new world order. As LEAP's roll out slows to a trickle, a greater threat emerges when a stealth attack on US troops leaves thousands dead. With the finger of suspicion pointing to a LEAP copycat, Ethan and Uma are forced to condone a breach of the Laws to reverse the massacre. As LEAP’s new rival continues to show their hand, Ethan is dragged back into a nightmare he thought he had escaped. One that may finally claim his sanity, and that pushes Uma to the limits of hers, to defeat an evil that no longer plays by the rules. #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviewerofinstagram #bookstagram #booklover #bookworm #book #reading #ilovereading #ilovebooks #review #honestreview #Ad #FreeReview #readalong #LBTCrew #theraceison

Book 31 of 120 is another #arc courtesy of @netgalley! @alexfinlayauthor writes such twisty psychological thrillers so I’m super excited to read #ifsomethinghappenstome a month early! Ryan’s girlfriend and her car disappear after Ryan is knocked unconscious. Neither is found and Ryan is still thought to be a suspect from the internet trolls and armchair detectives. He changes his names and enrolls in law school. While on a trip abroad he receives a call that Ali’s car has been found with two dead men inside and a note from Ali saying “if something happens to me…”. I have a feeling this is going to be another fast-paced twisty ride so I’m buckling up! #goodreadschallenge2024 #TBR2024 #suspensethriller #guinness #readingismysuperpower #resolvetoread2024 #bookstagram #whatimreading #contemporaryfiction #booksofinstagram #bookreviewer #bookstagrammer #booknerd #booklover #springreads2024 #tbrpile #readingaddict #currentlyreading #bookshelf #fortheloveofreading #ilovetoread #justkeepreading #bookaddict #readingislife #getlostinabook

This was such a fun, cute story. I have chickens, and they are all my babies, so when a friend told me about this book, I knew I had to read it. Now, my girls and boys are strictly for fun and the eggs, so it was neat to learn about the competitions and what all happens. I loved how George and Madeline were able to end up together, and I completely melted when he sent her a dozen chickens instead of roses. The story flowed nicely, and I enjoyed the characters, minus Chad lol. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #april #aprilreads #aprilbooks #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookreviewers #bookreader #review #reviews #reviewer #reviewers

Let’s talk about Dominic and Alessandra in King of Greed by Ana Huang 💛 This is the third installment of Ana’s Kings of Sin series and features Dominic, handsome billionaire, and his wife Alessandra. She’s emotionally broken after continually coming in second to Dominic’s work and finally decides to put herself first; by serving Dominic divorce papers. And the saying, “you never know what you have til it’s gone”, has never been more real for Dominic until that moment. How does he stop Alessandra from giving up on them completely? Or, is that even something he can do at this point? Now, I expected this to be a second chance romance where they both work to keep their marriage together - so imagine my shock when Dominic signed the divorce papers! My heart broke for both of them in that moment because of the way it was written; I found myself rooting for Alessandra for finally taking back her life, even though it was sad for her, and I felt Dominic’s heart break when he realized it was too late. And the subsequent ride the storyline took me on? Yeah, just tugged at my heartstrings the whole damn time watching them overcome obstacles and fall back in love. The character growth was one of my favorite parts of this book - truly phenomenal. I’d love a small novella about these two to see how they continue to work on things! I think King of Greed is best paired with champagne / sparkling wine and this Almond Champagne from Scribner Bend just fits the bill perfectly. It has aromas of marzipan and vanilla wafers and hints of toasted almonds. A truly unique twist on a classic champagne, much like how King of Greed is a unique twist on the second chance romance trope. 🍾 The next book in the Kings of Sin series, King of Sloth, comes out April 30th! This book, like the others before it, can be read as a stand-alone as well as part of the series. I’ve read a couple of Steve Cavanagh’s books now and I’ve always enjoyed them. This one had two possible outcomes - was Daniel Miller’s wife an accomplice or not? I swayed across both sides and wasn’t sure either way before the last 25% of the book. Cavanagh’s storylines always have me hooked and I really enjoy the scenes played out in the court room. There was quite a big twist in the final 5 or 6 pages which I absolutely did not see coming. Leading up to those pages the story seemed to be all wrapped up then suddenly…..a twist….which I just love so close to the end making it worthwhile to finish those last pages.

“Nothing But the Bones” by Brian Panowich. (2024) Did not realize this was part 4 of Bull Mountain. (When did books stop putting that info on the covers?) Anyway it was a full story and I did not miss anything that came before it. (That I know of). Some very interesting characters here. Clayton is a friend of Nelson who is called Nails. Nails is in trouble and goes on the run. Clayton tries to find him and help. There is a wild girl Dallas who we also follow. It’s a thrilling ride and I enjoyed it all. I’ve ordered Bull Mountain and the other two books in the series. ♥ Book Review: To Sir Phillip, with Love by Julia Quinn   𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬   Sir Phillip knew from his correspondence with his dead wife’s distant cousin that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he’d proposed, figuring that she’d be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except . . . she wasn’t. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her...

Eloise Bridgerton couldn’t marry a man she had never met! But then she started thinking... and wondering... and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except... he wasn’t. Her perfect husband wouldn’t be so moody and ill-mannered. And he certainly should have mentioned that he had two young - and decidedly unruly - children, as much in need of a mother as Phillip is in need of a wife. 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬   Book five was another great read from the Bridgertons series for me. I enjoyed the main characters and their complex romance story. Phillip and Elouise each had a backstory and some hurdles to overcame that made me cheer them on.

With every story, I’m more convinced that Quinn is a bit of a Jane Austen, with a sassy twist. Quinn’s writing exhibits her understanding of human nature, just as Austen’s did. The author’s ability to capture the chivalrous restraint of the time in even the spiciest moments will always elicit a giggle from me. I also appreciate her strong female main characters. I just enjoy Quinn’s writing so much.   𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞   “Be strong. Be diligent. Be conscientious. There is never anything to be gained by taking the easy road.”

🌸Happy Monday!🌸 🩷New week all new goals on my agenda! 📚I’m planning on catching up on a few books that have been on my TBR forever. 📚 I’m a tad bit of a mood reader so it’s all a mystery till I pick the book up. 📖I’ve got the basic layout for my bullet journal full of options but did this layout last week and didn’t love it. I think I’m just in a touch of a funk. I need to start May’s layout. Eek so much pressure. ☕️I’m starting the week off the week with a tasty mushroom coffee with Pineapple Upside Down Cake syrup. This is the new skinny syrup I received this week. Not sure if it’s perfect for coffee but it’s going to be amazing in smoothies and yogurt. 📚I’m about to start Sunshine’s Grump by Merri Bright. 🫨Just Another Manic Monday🫨 (did you sing it in your head too?) This picture of randomly scattered books is a pretty good representation of my brain right now. Thanks to ADHD and anxiety, my brain is full of so many thoughts, plans, and goals… and also little motivation and a non-existent sleep routine. Here are a few things going through my mind multiple times during the day (sometimes all at once): - Tomorrow is the last day of April; I have only finished one book all month and am 72% done with my ARC… fingers-crossed I can finish it 😬 - I REALLY need to clean my apartment and organize my storage closet, but both are overwhelming; I could start packing and going through things, even though I won’t be moving until mid-July at the earliest - I need to get my Blind Date with a Book Bundles listing on my Etsy updated - I need to get a sleeping routine together so I can be a more functioning human and to stop my migraines - Should I start packing for when I go to Louisiana at the end of May? - I need to switch out my fall/winter clothes for my spring/summer clothes - AND SO MUCH MORE I can’t even imagine what it would be like to have more than myself and my two cats to take care of, so props to everyone who juggles it all! I’ll get it together… maybe. 🙃 QOTD: Do you have a brain that never shuts up, too?! 🧠🗣️😵‍💫 #bookish #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #book #bookstagram #bookworms #bookwormsofinstagram #booklover #bookishlife #bookloversofinstagram #booklovers #readersofinstagram #reader #readers #bookcommunity #bookstagrammer #bookreview #bookreviews #bookreviewer #bookreviewers #bookreviewsofinstagram #adhd #neurodivergent #anxiety #manicmonday

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston 4⭐️ SO MUCH hype around this book, and I guess I get it, but maybe my expectations were also just a little too high. I legitimately went in expecting my next 5⭐️ read. But this was still a fun read!! A multiple timeline, slow burn thriller, and even though the “suspense” didn’t have me on the edge of my seat, I still liked the twists and the ending! This would be an excellent low-stress summer vacation book! The intensity is pretty on par with what to expect from a Reese’s book club book: nothing extremely scary, dirty or twisted; just a good, quick story and interesting characters. Quick Summary: Evie Porter is clearly keeping secrets from her new boyfriend, Ryan, but luckily she’s a professional when it comes to adopting aliases and working the targets her nameless/faceless criminal boss, Mr. Smith, assigns her to. But something is different about this job…. ♡︎ 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 ♡︎ Gaaaaaaahhhhhhh this installment was soooo goooood! Tʜᴇ Sᴜᴍᴍᴇʀ Yᴏᴜ Fᴏᴜɴᴅ Mᴇ by @elizabethoroark was stellar! It really made me see Kate in a new light and her struggles were so much to overcome and sheds light on her actions. I can’t imagine going through all the things she has and still getting to where she is in this book. She is a tough but to crack, but when you do, it’s so worth it. And then Beck. Oh boy. What a man! Besides being giant and hot, he has a heart of gold and all the time he spent silently loving Kate and being there for her and helping her however he could and then some was just so sweet! The passion between them is so hot, the tension before it all ramps up you are right there with them for, and then watching all the hurt and pain, but love and caring, and also the steps they both needed to take on their own were so poignant and perfect. It was a bit of a tough but so very worth it. And I love the community in this book, as well as the love all around. So good!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #thesummeryoufoundme #thesummerseries #elizabethoroark #elizabethoroarkbooks #elizabethoroarkauthor #romancereads #contemporaryromance #contemporaryromancereads #darkromance #darkromancereads #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #booksbooksbooks #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #reader #readersofig #bookreview #bookreviewer #tbr #toberead #mustread #mustreadbooks #booklove #fiction #adultfiction #chicklit #endlesslydreamingofbooks

Thank you so much @cjdscurrentread . The Generation Games is my best published novella yet. Introducing The Naughty Corner... The Generation Games is perhaps Towse’s darkest elderly horror. In an all-too close future, a mandate has been made due to earth’s depleted resources, that no one can live over 70. That is unless they are rich. Since most people aren’t, one television station decided to capitalize on this, seeing the death of millions as an opportunity. Those selected have the opportunity to win millions, and to afford the age passport they so desperately need. What do they have to do? When you remember the outcome for them is death, you get an idea of just how unhinged things really are. Horrific, gruesome, bloody, gory, and unbelievably wicked. My Name Is Brian features a new student that’s a bit strange. Brian is heavyset, a bookworm, and unerringly calm, even when the school bullies want a rise out of him. The issue I had with this one, is although anyone eating dumped food off of their own head or lunchroom table would be disgusting, it’s often only ever used when describing fat people, and therefore can read as fat phobic. This is erased though by the novella’s climax, it just rubbed me the wrong way while reading. But there is more to Brian than you may have previously thought. The Naughty Corner is a madhouse of desire, neglect, infatuation, and control. Set in an Idyllic town, it may not take long for them to remember that looks can be deceiving. Sheila, Frank, and Charlie move into a new neighborhood. What appears to be a good deal, comes with a set of ‘guidelines’ for living. With the list in the dozens, they may have gotten more than they bargained for. This novella mixes the unusual with its doses of horror. In this case, it does that by mixing, and thus distorting, pleasure. #readwithConnor #readersofinstagram #booktok #fortheloveofbooks #bookhoarder #bookstagrammer #bookshelfie #booksofinstagram #bookobessed #bookcollector #alwaysreading #bookrecs #bookreviewer #homelibrary #currentlyreading #goodreads #bookclub #marktowse #thenaughtycorner #eerieriverpublishing #horror #horrornovel #horrorbookworm #horrorbooks #horrorbook #horrorbookstagram

INTERROGATION RECORDS by Jeddie Sophronius ( #partner @gaudyboysu) was one of those poetry collections that I couldn’t stop reading once I picked it up. Harrowing and tragic, the poems shed light on Indonesia’s mass killings in 1965, also known as the “Communist Purge.” As someone with an American educational background, this was something that I didn’t know about, and reading this collection pushed me to look into it to find out more. And of course I was horrified to discover (not surprisingly) that the US saw this massacre a win against the communist regime and led to US support of the Indonesian military dictator, Suharto. What the actual f-? I can’t speak for the Indonesian experience at all, but I feel that I can comfortably criticize and feel horror at how the US has to be involved in so many horrific historic and current events out of its own self interest and fears (*cough* xenophobia, racism, anti-communism, Islamophobia, etc). So much of our histories are connected and the more I learn the more I think about our collective trauma at the hands of colonization and how we must have empathy for each other as we’re all on our own journeys in learning about how our past has shaped our present. I’m thankful for the poet, Jeddie Sophronius for writing this collection and inviting us as readers into this experience. As always, whenever I read a book published by @gaudyboysu, I feel incredibly grateful for the books they publish, often focusing on authors from the global south and often underrepresented countries in the western English speaking world. They’re one of my all time favorite publishers and I highly recommend anything that comes out of their publishing house!

Coffee Table Books (Part 2 of 2) I’m so into coffee table books that I just decided to split this into two posts over two days. When my roommate moved in, they brought this gorgeous glass-top coffee table with them, but asked me to fill it with all my books since I’m a purveyor of this genre. A lot of these have to do with California and with water. Once again, these are all thrifted or gifted! Top left quadrant: Sunset, National Parks of the West - Fun fact: the center where I work at Stanford is named after the longtime publisher of Sunset Magazine, so I like acquiring random Sunset items. A Photo Tour of San Francisco and Northern California - This was a going away gift to my family when we left the Bay Area in 2001~ Molly Hashimoto, Trees of the West - A recent read, see my 3/21 post. Thanks @mtnbooks for the copy! Bottom left quadrant: Textbook of limnology - Limnology: the study of lakes. Heathcote Williams, Whale Nation - A book-length poem about, you guessed it, whales. I once dramatically read this at the coast. Josie Iselin, An Ocean Garden: The Secret Life of Seaweed - More ocean love … Bottom right quadrant: Obi Kaufmann, The California Field Atlas - This was a gift from a friend, full of watercolor illustrations and ecological detail. Ecology of Inland Waters and Estuaries - Another free acquisition, on non-oceanic waters. Washtenaw County: An Illustrated History - This is where I live now! Top right quadrant: Tricia Brown, The City by the Bay - This is a lovely picture book about San Francisco. Monterey Bay Aquarium: The Insiders’ Guide - When I was a baby, my family had a membership to this absolutely incredible aquarium. Rebecca Solnit, Infinite City: A San Francisco Atlas - If you haven’t read any of Rebecca Solnit’s city atlases, you’re missing out. Her maps are creative—think, a map that overlays butterfly habitats with queer public spaces, another that mixes Bay Area food institutions with sites of toxicity.

✨SPOILER FREE✨ KISSED BY MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS Author: J.P. Sterling OVERALL STAR RATING: 5/5 CLEAN RATING: 5/5 This book took me by surprise in the best of ways! I just assumed by the title and cover that we’d be jumping right into a workplace romance of some sort, but boy oh boy…this was SO much more! The history between these two characters will pull at your heartstrings. We start off with Elinora and Graham being in their teens. Graham is the grandson of Elinora’s neighbor and he’s in town visiting for the Summer. He’s found himself in a bit of trouble and is trying to get his life straightened out. He’s seemingly quiet, bookish, has a passion for Hemingway and writes poetry! He absolutely captures Elinora’s heart. A specific turn of events tear them apart and Elinora is left wondering what ever happened to that boy with the sapphire blue eyes who rocked her world. Fast forward about a decade and their paths unexpectedly cross again. Elinora still feels drawn to him, and vice versa…but…timing is everything. Yet another decade passes and Graham winds up being the new boss hired at Elinora’s company. Older, more mature…RICH! Problem being is that now Elinora’s walls have been built up quite high. The last time they saw each other, things didn’t end well. She’s lost all trust and hope in Graham and now she’s expected to work for him!? She simply can’t. Her heart can’t take it. Graham on the other hand is determined to win her heart and keep it this time. So much depth for a story that’s just over 200 pages. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this book. 📖 BOOK REVIEW 📖 “The Woman At Number 6” by Matthew Farrell ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 💫 📚I had such a great time participating in the @BookSparks book tour, and if you haven’t seen my unboxing video, check it out guys. It was so fun reading the book and looking for the clues in the picture above - I was able to find most of them 😀 In this book, Malcolm comes under police’s scrutiny after his wife Tracy goes missing and his mistress is found dead, both on the same day. 💭 I could not put this book down! It’s one of those stay-up-late-at-night reads where every minute you’re away from the book, you’re thinking about it. As I started reading, the biggest question on my mind was, what is Malcolm hiding? He and the doctor were my main suspects. I also loved the idea of two separate investigations coming to a crossing point and propelling the case to solution. The side story of Tracy’s disappearance gave me major Mysery by Stephen King vibes. It was dark and propulsive, but left me with some questions, such as why did Tracy’s sister hide the fact that Tracy called for help when every minute was crucial and they were, supposedly, “in it” together? I also had a somewhat hard time with Tracy’s captor’s identity. That twist was a little stretch for me. I would have liked to see doctor’s POV in this book as well. ⚖️ All in all, this was an original and a very entertaining thriller. Despite some loose ends, this book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. If you enjoy a good whodunit, check out this book. 4.5/5 ⭐ from me. ❓QOTD: What thriller kept you on the edge of your seat❓ 🔖 #TheWomanAtNumber6 #WomanInNumber6Tour #bookstagramming #bookstagrams #SpingReads #toberead #tbrpile #TBR #bookishphotography #prettybooks #readinggoals #bookaccount #readerslife #bookpic #booktag #bookaesthetic #bookreviewer #bookwormlife #bookishlove #booktography #bookreview #booksofinstagram #booknerd #bookstagrammer #bookish #booklove #thrillerbooks #mysterybooks #suspensebooks

INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL to @estherfungreads for sharing her thoughts on The Translator’s Daughter. “This book is honestly so hard to review because it hits so hard… Literally this book is me. [It] unlocked core memories I didn’t even know existed… Like me, she was born in Taiwan but grew up in the States. And like me, her cultural identity has holes she’s trying desperate to patch.” And then she compared it to Crying in H Mart 😭😭 Publishing a book is so full of angst and panic about whether it’s going to make any lists or be reviewed in the right places or find any audience whatsoever, but the one thing that makes it all worthwhile is hearing from readers that they feel seen and understood. THAT, more than anything, is why we write 🩷💜🩵 @ohiostatepress . . . . . . #booklaunch #newbooks #marchbooks #springbooks #translatorsdaughter #memoir #aapimemoir #debutauthor #books #bookstagram #2024books #aapi #asianamerican #taiwan #taiwanese #bipoc #taiwaneseamerican #diaspora #belonging #thirdculturekid #tck #booksbywomen #readmorewomen #bookreview #bookreviewer

Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose Release Date: April 30th Thank you @jenevaroseauthor and @blackstonepublishing for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. Everyone has a complicated family. If your family isn’t complicated, then you probably know someone who has a complicated family. That said, I fully own that my family dynamic is, at best, complicated. Not as complicated as the one in this book, but enough that there was plenty of things I could relate to while reading this one! I found myself simultaneously liking and not liking any of the siblings, Beth, Nicole and Michael, but wasn’t that the point? Each character is flawed and not only processing the very recent death of their mother, but also dealing with long forgotten mysteries and missing people who, somehow, their parents are connected to. Imagine going through your mom’s stuff and finding a video that incriminates your parents in a long ago murder. Complicated doesn’t even cover it. I will say, I truly didn’t see this one coming. I won’t spoil it here, but I had one theory throughout the book that I was sure, absolutely sure, was correct. I was wrong! Not even close. Definitely read this book is you like stories of redemption, self-discovery, and twisty mysteries. 🕵️‍♀️ Missing People 💀 Death of a Loved One 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Family Dynamics 🤯 Plot Twists ❤️‍🩹 Redemption

● BOOK REVIEW ● ONLY IF YOU'RE LUCKY by Stacy Willingham ☆☆☆ It's really unfortunate that Stacy Willingham's writing has disappointed me not once but twice. I read All the Dangerous Things in March of 2023 for our MB Bookies book club. Like her previous book, Only if You're Lucky is extremely slow! The plot thickens, and the twists and turns finally occur in the last 3/4 of the book. Why do I have to read 75% of the book to finally get to something exciting? By that point, I'm checked out! The plot was all over the place, and it seemed like every new revelation was conveniently placed as the story progressed. As for the characters, I had zero connection! I didn't feel like Lucy's appeal was conveyed all that well. Margo is unlikeable. She was very much a follower. I didn't like that she abandoned her first roommate when she was offered to room with strangers. This book was our AtoZ Bookaholic's book club pick for March. So far, the highest rating is 3.5 stars. I can assume that it wasn't a great choice, unfortunately. #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviewsbyabooklover #bookreviewsofinstagram #bookreviewerofinstagram #mbbookies🦬 #atozbookaholicbookclub #bookclubofinstagram #bookclub #bookclubmarch #atozbookaholic

💌 BOOK MAIL Thank you to @tandemcollectiveuk, for my gifted copy of Dry Spells by Archana Maniar as part of the upcoming readalong kicking off on May 1st [AD/PR] 📖 Recently, Shyamala Mehta’s life in LA feels stagnant: she’s undervalued at work, newly single, and constantly clashing with her marriage-obsessed mother. So when she’s offered a transfer to Mumbai, she travels halfway around the world to the now drought-stricken city her parents left behind. Staying with her mother’s sister Vini, Shyamala is struck by the contrast between them. How did Vini become such a joyful, unconventional soul while Pramila drifted quietly into traditional life? Far from home and surrounded by echoes of the past, Shyamala finally has a chance to learn more about the mother she barely knows. With Arjun, the neighbour’s wild-haired son whose love for India pierces through the oppressive heat, she starts to see the city of Pramila’s youth in all its beautiful complexity. But as the taps run dry, Shyamala finds herself at the crossroads of her family’s history and her own destiny. The air is heavy with secrets, but when the deluge finally comes, will she be ready for what it might reveal—about her mother, herself, and the maddening city she’s starting to think of as home? #dryspellsreadalong #tandemreadalong #archanamaniar #tbr #bookstagrammer #booktuber #bookreviewer

👮🏻🚔 • What’s a sequel that was worth the wait?? In The Blink Of An Eye was a big 5* and one of my top books of last year so I was super excited for Leave No Trace. I loved being back with DCS Kat Frank and AIDE Lock, the world’s first AI detective! They’re a fantastic duo and I hope this series goes on forever 😍. 👮🏻 This time the Future Policing Team are on their first live case. Someone is murdering white men (**GASPS** - we can’t have this!! **clutches pearls**) and it’s up to Kat and her AI partner to figure out who. The book draws attention to timely and relevant feminist issues, with a gripping, fast paced serial killer case to follow. Loved the graphic murders… yes I’m morbid, I’m not mad about it. Most of all though, I’m obsessed with Lock. His (I refuse to call him ‘it’) ability to access and assess complex info in seconds is insane. I love his abilities and skills! He also takes everything literally and struggles to follow social codes and cues, leading to some hilarious and awkward moments! 👮🏻 I did knock a star off because, although I loved how it highlighted and tackled real women’s issues, I felt the narrative got side tracked by its agenda at times, which felt a bit jarring. I also wanted MORE Lock, and I did guess the killer and their motive. However, I just loved being back with the characters, working on a grisly case and chasing clues. The futuristic element of pairing an AI with a real fierce female detective just WORKS. So so well. I can’t wait to see what they do next! 👮🏻 Thank you to @likely_suspects @simonschusteruk for the AD/PR copy of Leave No Trace. Out Now!! 👮🏻

I thought I’d switch things up a little bit and I read Crave by Tracy Wolff! This is a YA fantasy romance. Our main character Grace has had her entire life flipped upside down. After her parents suddenly passed away she leaves her home in San Diego and is sent to go live with her cousin Macy, and her Uncle Finn who runs this prestigious boarding school in Alaska. Except as soon as she gets there things just feel…off. The interactions she keeps having with the other students are weird, she keeps having these near death experiences and then it finally comes out that this is not a normal boarding school, this is a boarding school for monsters and she’s the only human there. This was really fun to read. It was very long, 592 pages, but it was a fun easy read, the writing was very easy to follow. The chapter names were absolutely hilarious and there definitely was a lot of Twilight level angst which at times kinda felt cringy but again, this is a YA fantasy romance so to me it felt kinda par for the course, with this kind of book you have to suspend your belief a little you know? With all this being said I was thinking this was going to be a 4 star read, until I got to the end and then I was incredibly confused. Obviously, I immediately picked up the second book trying to find some answers and I’m currently about 60 pages into the second book and I’m struggling to keep my interest. So I need some help, have you read this series? Does it get better? Did I miss something and that’s why I’m incredibly confused? What are your thoughts? @alihazelwood jumped into the paranormal/fantasy genre and I am HERE FOR IT! Bride delivers on Hazelwood’s signature wit, one-of-a-kind characters, and captivating storytelling. She’s able to build a contemporary world with Weres (werewolves), Vampyers, and Humans within ~400 pages all while completely captivating me in a story I couldn’t read fast enough. Misery Lark is blunt, honest, a bit emotionally stunted and lives on blood (though shamefully enjoys peanut butter). Her growth into who she is and finding ambition she didn’t know she was missing makes her an instant book bestie. Lowe Moreland is an intensely loyal, protective Alpha that will instantly have you drooling and wanting to be apart of his pack. His soft spot for his younger sister and his reluctance to sacrifice anyone but himself makes for a drool worthy book boyfriend. I’m so hoping for a second book apart of the Bride world (I see what you did in the epilogue @alihazelwood and you CAN’T leave me hanging!). This is definitely a read you need on your TBR. ❓Would you rather be a vampire or a werewolf ❓ . . . . . . . #romancebook #romancebooks #romancereader #romancereads #fantasyromance #paranormalromance #romantasy #bride #alihazelwood #vampyre #werewolf #knot #knotting #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookrecommendation #bookreviewer #spicybooks #spicyreads #spicy

This was a charming romance fantasy with an overall three-star rating. (A bit of spoiler review I think) I enjoyed reading the letters exchanged by Iris and Roman. They both have such a talent for writing, and their pouring themselves into their letters was honestly my favorite part of the series. I do think there was a bit of instant love given some things that happen in Divine Rivals, which I thought was a bit unnecessary and a little out of place considering they’re on a war front. I’ll admit that I believe the world-building was not the best or lacked a bit more detail for my personal taste to really get into it. I needed more information on the reason for the war and more details on the gods. Even in Ruthless Vows, I was hoping to get more depth on the gods. However, once again in Ruthless Vows, we get to see the most thoughtful love letters exchanged between the two, which always made me smile. We get introduced to more characters, which I also enjoyed. Overall Ruthless Vows was not my favorite out of the two and it felt like we were stretching the ending. I do recommend this book to those who have a soft spot for love letters and an easy fantasy to get into. #bookblogger #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookreviewer #fantasy #enemiestolovers #divinerivals #bookworm

📚: The Goal ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - surprise pregnancy - college romance Typically, I am not a surprise pregnancy lover, but I found myself quite pleased with this story! Tucker and Sabrina were a very cute relationship and honestly, I felt their story did well to wrap up the series. The relationship was very sweet and really, my biggest complaint in the book was that Sabrina was so reluctant to just let Tucker love her! Several times, I wanted to just scream at her that Tucker was the real deal! Did I understand her issues? Sure, but still! Once that was worked through, I found them to be a very cute couple. As I’ve said with the other books in this series, I would recommend it for anyone who wants a light series about a college hockey team friend group. I’m sad this series is done (yes I read The Legacy already) but onto the spinoff series and then the next gen! • • • • • #bookreviews #romancereader #romancetagram #bookstagram #romancebookstagram #bookreviewer #spicyromance #ellekennedy #booklover #bookishcontent #booklover #bookstagrammer

Born to Rule by @kacierossauthor (ARC) 📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️,5 / 🌶️🌶️ “We don’t choose our monsters, Mira. They choose us.” “Are you going to stab me with that, princess?” “You really will be my worst punishment yet.” Well written and easy to read. Kept me hooked from the first pages to the end. The magic system was unique and well thought out, and the world-building was well written and easy to understand. The book is told from two POVs: Mira and Sidelle. I think that the dual-POV storytelling worked well for the plot, and I was equally invested in both of their perspectives. I really liked Mira as a main character. She reminded me of Aelin from Throne of Glass. She was a strong and feisty character who had a rough past. I liked how she didn’t need someone to save her. I enjoyed seeing her grow and learn. I loved the tension and banter between Mira and Balis. Their interactions were really funny at times. The pacing of the book was good, not too slow but not too fast either. There was a lot happening but also time to explain and explore things. I can’t wait to read more! 🏷️ #borntorule #kacieross #debut #fantasy #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #whatimreading #whatimreadingnow #currentread #arc #arcread #arcreview

✨Funny Story by @emilyhenrywrites ✨ 5 millions stars - listen I am an Emily Henry fan but that by no means make this review biased in any way (maybe a little). Funny Story is truly just an amazing book that I feel like was written with me in mind. It seriously had EVERYTHING I love in a romance book - banter, amazing dialogue, tension, FRIENDS TO LOVERS, and a golden retriever MMC who is just absolutely SMITTEN with the FMC... like what more can a girl want? I loved Daphne, she was so well rounded and complex - I loved her journey to self discovery and I loved that through this journey she was able to stay true to herself while also allowing herself to be open to letting new people into her life. I appreciated the ending and how she wanted to be with Miles but also knew the importance of not letting herself be completely lost in her partner’s world again. Miles - dream man, like he was written for me I swear. The wit and the charm and the banter and he works at a winery so the ever stocked wine cabinet... I can keep going. I love a friends to lovers in general because I feel it allows the couples to really develop a strong foundation for their relationship and EH really hit this one out of the park. Overall absolutely freaking obsessed - I dont think this tops Beach Read but it is tied for first in my eyes #books #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #bookworm #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookrecommendations #bookrecommendation #bookreader

Autorka sa veľmi pekne vyhrala s osudmi postáv a do originálneho deja zakomponovala širšiu škálu sympatických i menej sympatických ľudí s rôznymi typmi charakterov. ✨ Hodnotím na ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #book #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookrecommendations #booklover #booknerd #bookblogger #bookblog #bookphotography #bookcommunity #kniznytip #tipnaknihu👍📖📚🔝📖📚🔝 #recenzia #kniznarecenzia #tipnaknihu #tipnaknizku #cocitat #martinus #coctu #copravecitam #vahavyvestec #keziahfrost #vydavatelstvoikar #readingtime #knizockarka

A Touch Of Chaos Scarlett St. Clair ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ OMG!!😱 I absolutely LOVE this book! I can’t even put it into words…. This was such a good wrap up for the series. This book was so gut wrenching, adventurous, courageous, and passionate. Scarlett put her heart and soul into this book and it paid off ten fold. I absolutely adore this series and her writing style. This book also had me laughing hysterically at Hermes and his interactions with the different gods and goddesses. I also LOVE Hecate! I am sooo sad that this series ended but excited to see where she is going to go with Aphrodite and Hephestas. #bookworm #bookstagram #books #books #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookreader #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookrecs #bookrecommendation #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookcommunity #bookblogger #booklove #booklovers #bookclub #bookobsessed #bookgram #booklife #bookworms #bookdragon #scarletstclair #scarlettstclairbooks #persphoneandhades #atouchofdarkness #atouchofchaos #bookreviewer #bookgeek

🐋 Book Review: Whalefall 🐋 Author: Daniel Kraus Genre: Divisive Setting: Monterey Bay, California Format: Print Series: N MPAA: R Book Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Jay Gardiner is a young man tortured by the relationship he had with his father. Stuck in emotional limbo after his father’s death by suicide due to terminal cancer, Jay feels that the only way he can quiet the torment of his complicated feelings of love and hate for his dad is to take one last scuba dive in the waters off Monterey Bay to attempt to retrieve at least some of his father’s bones. Not far into his dive, he gets literally swallowed by a whale, and has to figure out if the things his dad taught him and that he taught himself will help him get out alive. This is billed on the dust jacket as a thriller, and I’ve seen others describe it as horror, but it’s absolutely not either of those. It’s very much a literary fiction contemplation of death and the extremely complicated relationships between parents and their children (TW all over the place). Mitt Gardiner isn’t a great father, and Jay has a lot of painful memories of his past (his POV shifts back and forth between past and present), but there are also moments of happiness, joy, and love. Jay really struggles with trying to understand how he feels about his father, and the literal belly of the whale gives him the place under ultimate pressure where he has to contemplate these feelings and his own shortcomings as a son and brother. Daniel Kraus’s writing is excellent, and there were moments where it made me cry, especially as a mom. I flew through it in two sittings, and ultimately really enjoyed it. I almost DNFed at the beginning, because it does take a minute to get going, but I am really glad I decided to stick it out. Cover rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 gorgeous Adaptability rating: -1/5 absolutely not ❓ Have you ever/would you ever go scuba diving? I dove the Great Barrier Reef, and it was amazing!

✨🅰🆁🅲 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆✨ Title: Romancing the Grump Author: Jenny Proctor @jennyproctorbooks Genre: RomCom/Hockey Romance Format: ARC, eBook Release Date: April 23, 2024 Series: Appies (can be read as a stand alone) Rating: Absolutely loved it! Have I ever watched a hockey game before? No, I haven’t. Am I a huge fan of a fictional hockey team? Yes, I am. I am here for the Appies and the playful camaraderie, bro-mance, what ever you want to call it, among the teammates. I love this team and their commitment to each other. These guys have each other’s backs, but they also know how to joke and make fun of each other. I’m also here for Nathan and Summer. Is there anything better than a grumpy guy finding the one girl who can make him smile! No, I think not. I loved Nathan. He’s quiet. He’s grumpy. He’s secretly a sweetheart. He’s also very protective! Summer was also such a lovable character. She’s fun loving but also speaks her mind. She knows how to take care of herself, but she’s also not too proud to have a beast of a man, like Nathan, stand up for her when needed! These two have great chemistry. I don’t want to give too much away with my review, but there are a few tropes inside this book that most of us romance loving gals love!! This book is part of a series, but it can be read as a stand alone! Get it today on Kindle Unlimited! 📖 🔥 passionate kissing 🤬 light language ❓death of a parent and parent’s alcoholism, workplace harassment *I received an advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

“Leave No Trace” (2024), the first installment in the National Parks Thriller series, penned by Jon Land and Jeff Ayers under the pseudonym A.J. Landau, introduces protagonist Special Agent Michael Walker of the National Park Service. The narrative opens with a harrowing terrorist assault on the Statue of Liberty. Amidst the chaos, a young bystander named Danny captures the incident on film, immortalizing the carnage of the explosion but also identifying the terrorists. This gripping prologue sets the stage for an energetic story. Walker finds himself collaborating with FBI agent Gina Delgado, who spearheads the Joint Terrorism Task Force, in a relentless pursuit of the perpetrators. Their adversaries, led by the enigmatic Jeremiah, harbor intentions of eradicating American cultural icons. While the storytelling may occasionally falter in fluidity and presents an abundance of characters to follow, the plot maintains a steady momentum. Notably, each chapter begins with a historical tidbit concerning a National Park or landmark, enriching the story with educational snippets. Readers inclined toward thrillers centered on domestic terrorism, radicalized groups, and extremist violence will find this book a compelling recommendation. #crimefiction #bookreviewer #goodreads #bookstagram
