Той хто вважав росіян нашими братами, бо діди воювали, прочитайте цю книгу. Прочитайте, як росіяни винищували нашу культуру, наших людей, яким знущанням піддалися кримські татари. Це історії реальних людей. Це наші з вами історії. Крим в 90х, революції, Майдан, окупація, війна. На шляху нам зустрічаються різні національності, з різними позиціями, патернами поведінки і думками. В книзі є вічно жива любов і дружба, яка змінюється, проходить різні перешкоди. Історія дуже широко висвітлює боротьбу кримських татар за свою ідентичність, свободу, їх шлях, депортацію з Криму в 70х, їх культуру і традиції. Стиль авторки супер цікавий, вона розповідає історію від першого обличчя і ми не дізнаємося її імені до кінця книги. Тому в цьому "я" ми відчуваємо себе. Анастасія прописує всі почуття персонажів, деталі, тому з'являється відчуття, що ти знаходишся там і переживаєш це все з ними. Третя частина книги найбільш болюча. В ній розповідається і про Майдан Незалежності, і проєвропейську революцію в Криму, і окупацію Криму, початок війни на Донбасі. Як головна героїня втратила своє рідне місце, свій Крим. Як ми його втратили. Я б дуже сильно хотіла, щоб цю книгу прочитало якомога більше людей, особливо молодих людей, які не застали ці події, ті, хто досі каже "какая разніца" і "культура внє палітікі". Ми так довго боролися, боримося і будемо боротися. Це неймовірна книга, яка заслуговує вашої уваги.

Toni Morrison explores a fictional telling of a mother Sethe, who kills her infant daughter and attempts to kill her other children when slavecatchers track her down following her escape. Sethe, her sons and daughter Denver continue to live in the home where Beloved ( the only word that could be bought for the infants gravestone) died. When Beloved returns in the form of a young woman to the home, Sethe and Denver take a journey into themselves, their pasts, the tragedies and horror of slavery and the ramifications it had and continues to have in generations of families. It’s my first Morrison and my goodness, the strength of writing - history and emotion and searing insight coursing through it. If you can’t understand it all (I got a little lost with some of the magical realism and that’s all me not the book) you can certainly feel it all. It’s gut wrenching, unflinching, overflowing with love and devotion through all the pain. In Toni’s foreword to the book, she writes that language must get out of the way in order to render enslavement as a personal experience, intimately related to the reader, memory intertwined with present, forgetting intertwined with remembering. And I truly believe I experienced that as a reader. To be able to write a book, that’s not simply a book or a story, that literally vibrates and hums, to have that effect on readers, is a such a rare and powerful gift. I’m desperate to keep listening to Morrison, to keep soaking it all in. Onto the next I run.

Autore: Andrea Frediani Titolo: Lo chiamavano il Gladiatore Editore: @newtoncomptoneditori Voto: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Parallelismo tra le vicende di un gladiatore di età romana e un attuale combattente clandestino, accomunati dalla possibilità di assumere una pozione tanto efficace nel combattimento quanto pericolosa per la salute. Due destini diversi in base alle scelte compiute. Come sempre, nota di merito per la narrazione su più linee temporali, anche se alla fine i destini dei due personaggi si separano. Trama forse prevedibile, soprattutto per la storia d’amore che fa da sfondo alla vicenda principale, ma comunque un ottimo scorcio su un tema storicamente e attualmente interessante, oltre che delicato. Ik hou van de typische Japanse schrijfstijl. In onze lokale bibliotheek kochten ze recent een heleboel auteurs aan, waaronder Kawakami. Dus ik was benieuwd om een van haar boeken uit te proberen. 📒Back cover De kleurrijke meneer Nakano baat al jaren een tweedehandszaak uit in een buitenwijk van Tokyo. "Geen antiek, het is gewoon oude rommel," waarschuwt hij de jonge vrouw Hitomi, als die naar een baantje solliciteert. Ook de zwijgzame, stugge Takeo werkt er als hulpje. De levenslustige zus van meneer Nakano is een regelmatige bezoekster. En nog meer figuren maken hun opwachting in Nakano's handel, de ene nog markanter dan de andere. 🤔Back talk 'Nakano's handel in oude rommel' (géén antiek, zo blijkt al snel) leest alsof het een rustig voortkabbelende rivier is die een inkijk geeft in het leven van Japanners: hun werkethiek, lunchgewoontes en bentoboxen, relaties tussen oudere mannen en vrouwen, liefdesrelaties tussen jongeren, de dagelijkse sleur in het overweldigende Tokio. Meteen is duidelijk dat er een ratrace bestaat en dat elk van de personages hier graag aan wil ontkomen en een leven wil met tijd voor eenvoud en zichzelf. Takeo, Nakano, Hitomi en Masayo (Nakano's artistieke, oudere zus) worstelen daar elk op hun eigen manier mee. Naar het einde toe, maakt het boek een plotse tijdsprong en blikken de personages terug op hun tijd in Nakano's winkel. Daaruit blijkt dat de druk om iets te maken van het leven, het kiezen voor een stabiele kantoorbaan met veel overwerk nog steeds de Japanse standaard is. Zeker niet het beste boek dat ik ooit las, maar een ideale kennismaking met de Japanse schrijfstijl en het leven in de suburbs van Tokio. 3 sterren.

📚 Rezension: „Tödlicher Podcast“ von Cleo Konrad 📚 Buch Nr. 44 / 2024 Ein Thriller, in dem ein True Crime Podcast eine tragende Rolle spielt? Call me in! Die Idee hinter Cleo Konrads Thrillerdebüt hat mir auf jeden Fall richtig gut gefallen – es geht um einen erfolgreichen True Crime Podcast, dessen Host eine sehr geheimnisvolle und zurückgezogen lebende junge Frau namens Malu ist. Offensichtlich verbirgt sie irgendetwas – das ist zumindest der Eindruck, den Nina von ihr hat, als sie von ihr als Reinigungskraft eingestellt wird. Noch mysteriöser wird es schließlich, als im Internet ein weiterer Podcast auftaucht, der etwas Schreckliches über Malu offenbart. Die Ausgangssituation jedenfalls mochte ich sehr. „Tödlicher Podcast“ ist zwar ein eher gemächlicher statt rasanter Thriller, hat mich aber von Anfang an mit den verschiedenen Blickwinkeln und der unterschwellig bedrohlichen Atmosphäre zu fesseln verstanden. Getragen wird die Handlung dabei unter anderem von der Neugierde und dem Wahrheitsdrang von Nina und der fast schon krankhaften Verschlossenheit Malus, aber auch von den immer wieder eingestreuten Podcast-Schnipseln, die das Ganze noch nahbarer machen. Im Verlauf der Handlung stellt sich außerdem heraus, dass jeder Charakter etwas zu verbergen hat und alles irgendwie ganz anders ist, als es scheint. Es gibt gerade in der Mitte einige gut gemachte Twists, die mich zum Teil überrascht, zum Teil meine Vermutungen bestätigt, aber mich auf jeden Fall gut unterhalten haben. ✨ After I Do by @tjenkinsreid Review ✨ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I listened to the audiobook narrated by the incredible @justjuliawhelan and these two women combined never fail! I have loved every TJR book I’ve read and this one once again tugged on my heart strings and made me fall in love with the characters. Lauren is a gorgeous, complex character and I adored her family and their dynamics 🥰 Interesting perspectives on long term marriages and how dynamics change over time. Highly recommend! 💛 Also, if you haven’t checked out @justjuliawhelan as an audiobook narrator, she narrates all of TJR’s books and lots of other iconic books (even her own)! She is my favourite audiobook narrator - happy to give recs, let me know 🫶🏻✨

An diesem #lesesamstag lautet bei @janasideenladen und @pelle.gernot das Thema: 😽Liest du Romane mit Tieren in der Handlung?🐶 Dieses Thema passt grad wunderbar. Und ich vermute auch, es war mein eigener Themenvorschlag zu Beginn des Jahres. 😀 Meine Antwort daher: Ja. Ich mag das. Nicht immer und es kommt auf das Wie drauf an. Aber vor allem, wenn es um Katzen geht, bin ich dabei. Mal generell zu der Frage: Bei Kinderbüchern ist das natürlich klar. Kinder lieben Geschichten mit Tieren, ich glaube sogar, mehr als mit Menschen. Tiere sind für Kinder einfach toll, sie sind irgendwie magisch und liebenswert zugleich. Und können starke Identifikationsfiguren sein. Meine persönlichen „Best of“ sind: „Oh wie schön ist Panama“ von Janosch, „Der kleine Wassermann“ von Otfried Preußler oder „Mein Esel Benjamin“ von Hannes Limmer. Jugendliche, die sich meistens von Kindern abgrenzen wollen, lesen vielleicht weniger Bücher mit Tieren. So genau kann ich das nicht sagen. Wobei Drachen durchaus Hochkonjunktur haben und auch Reihen wie „Warrior Cats“ nach wie vor sehr beliebt sind. Aber auch In der Erwachsenenliteratur kommt es vor, dass Tiere die Handlung bestimmen . Vor allem Katzen haben eine große Fangemeinde. Nicht nur in Reels, sondern auch in Büchern. 😀“Felidae“ von Akif Pirinçci (mittlerweile leider nur noch als Film erhältlich) oder „Bob der Streuner“ waren echte Renner. Gerne habe ich auch „Nero Corleone von Elke Heidenreich gelesen. Wunderbar geschrieben, aber auch traurig. Die meisten dieser Bücher sind auch mit der Menschenwelt verknüpft, also keine reinen Tiergeschichten. Ich glaube, das muss bei Erwachsenenbüchern so sein, damit es sich nicht zu sehr von der erwachsenen Sichtweise entfernt. Und so ist es auch bei meinem neuen Projekt: die Hauptgeschichte ist die Geschichte von Menschen, die sich allerdings auf wundersame Weise mit den tierischen Hauptprotagonisten verknüpft. Mehr sag ich dazu aber noch nicht. ➡️ Und wie ist das bei euch so? Tiere in der Handlung? Ja oder nein? Und wenn ja, wie stark? Magische Tiere, sprechende und denkende Tiere oder Tiere als ganz normale Tiere?

Book Review: The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell Wow! I was proud of myself when I thought I had predicted what happened but my cockiness was short-lived. The turn of events started to uncover things I hadn't thought of. This book is one of the best mystery novels I've read! So far, this is the 3rd book I've read by Lisa Jewell and I'm loving it! W ogóle mamy dwie płaszczyzny wydarzeń: związane z Norą i wykopaliskami oraz z Corrie i śledztwem, a epizodycznie na scenę wkracza Lime. The Love of My Afterlife is a hilarious rom-com that had me rooting for Delphie, grieving with Cooper, and cringing with Jonah. I chortled and cried and fell in love with the characters. The story delves into some heavy topics—death, grief, abandonment, bullying, and depression, to name a few—but it balances those somber moments with lovable (and relatable) characters, quick-witted humor, biting sarcasm, and some good old-fashioned heart. I absolutely loved it. This book was my first foray into @kirsty_greenwood writing and will certainly not be my last. About the Book 📚 Eddie is sure his past way behind him. The silly chalk figure game Eddie and his friends made up in their childhood takes a dark turn no one expected. I could not put it down until I finished it. Small town mysteries are pretty good and this one takes the top spot. The setting is eery and cold and unsettling. Childhood friends and bad memories associated with hometown are just as good. The best part is the end… I won't be spoiling it but damn! The ending was just a huge shock and so unexpected. Hey guys how's it going? Picture Book review time!!!! Thank you to BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book for my students. This was a cute picture book for students. I think the overall story is lacking though, due to some choppiness (which could be entirely due to me missing a page while swiping who knows) but the art is gorgeous and the ideas are there, just execution may be lacking. (I still think it can be used for my students with some supplementary instruction) I also appreciate that there is a Spanish translation in here as well. I am incredibly lucky that in the midst of reading Iron Flame, by @rebeccayarros, for the first time - The Tortured Poets Department by @taylorswift was released. 🩶 As usual I’m obsessed with both and I was absolutely gagged when I realized that ‘imgonnagetyouback’ is just SO Violet and Xaden in this book. Not only in Violet’s inner monologue but in how they’re playing cat and mouse with each other about trust. My swiftie heart and my reading brain almost bottomed out. I have been weirdly unwell for the past two weeks but here's a series of me being obsessed with this brick of a book🌞 This has been one of the easiest classics I have read and at no point did I find it archaic or dense. The writing style is breezy and Tolstoy is a sneak for subtle foreshadowing and parallelism woven in this book through multiple POVs. I think Levin has been my favourite bestie and maybe I see myself in him a little bit as his character is developing. This classic is my definition of "Dark Romance" as this book explores the social concept of adultery and its place in a society, what it does to a human and his/her relationship with near and dear ones. Tolstoy has on purpose omitted writing any spicy scenes because he wanted the central theme of the book to showcase the negative place of adultery in society rather than your normal tale of lust and romance. Book Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 May be about high school kids but they act like they're in college. I was pleasantly surprised on this book. It gave a few twist and turns I wasn't expecting. Ally is suddenly transferred to a new school mid year due to her mother dying. She immediately stands out and gets the attention of the most popular group of boys. Against her better judgment and Roman's, the leader the group, they fall for each other hard and fast. I gave the book 4 stars because even though it was fast paced and kept my attention I felt like there was a lot of side plots that were rushed through to just add to the main story line because it wasn't enough on its own. Minimal spice but that makes sense since they are in high school. My thoughts: As someone who went into this novel thinking that fantasy books were way too confusing, I am so glad I gave this a shot! So many of my bookish friends told me this one was a must read and that I would be hooked on the ACOTAR series if I could get through the first novel…. They were right. I really loved the balance of fantasy and romance in this book and the fact that this world wasn’t too complex for an amateur fantasy reader like myself. I did find that near the middle the book began to drag slightly and it is definitely a slow-burn when it comes to the romance. However, it was totally worth it because the last 100 pages were absolutely wild and I couldn’t put it down! 🔹 Recensie 🔹 ‘De 20’ - @samhollandbooks @harpercollins_holland ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... hij komt je halen... Sommige thrillers blijven eventjes onder je huid zitten als je klaar bent met lezen, dat was bij mij het geval met ‘De 20’ 🤫 Ik zag het boek vaak passeren op Bookstagram en werd ook nieuwsgierig 😌 Zo zie je maar, alleen maar fijne boekentips in deze community 😇 ❓Welk boek begonnen jullie onlangs te lezen door Bookstagram? Oordeel ‘De 20’ start met een spannende proloog. De eerste gruwel kruipt meteen onder je huid, je voelt dat de man doodsbang is. Ook in hoofdstuk één zet Holland die mysterieuze sfeer verder. Het is niet vanaf de eerste zin helder dat de man in het café Adam Bishop is. Wie de rechercheur is, komende we naarmate het verhaal vordert te weten. Hij leeft duidelijk voor zijn job, maar is getekend door het verleden. Zijn persoonlijke leven is mooi vervlochten met de verhaallijn over de afschuwelijke moorden. We komen ook meer te weten over de gevoelens van Adams collega Jamie en zijn ex-vrouw Romilly. Zij staan het dichtst bij Adam, via hen leren we dus ook meer over hem. Adam is erg gedreven om de seriemoordenaar te stoppen. De dader leren we kennen in de cursief gedrukte hoofdstukken. Wat hier heel bijzonder is, is dat Holland de gedachtegang van de moordenaar heel nauwkeurig en geloofwaardig uitwerkt. Die gedachtes komen binnen, ze zijn ronduit wreed en maken het verhaal nog gruwelijker dan het is door de vele details van de moorden. Sommige hoofdstukken hebben de titel ‘vroeger’, die heb je nodig om bepaalde details beter te begrijpen. Ze hebben echt een meerwaarde voor het boek. Holland heeft ook nog zogezegde officiële documenten toegevoegd die te maken hebben met de moorden uit 1995. De stukken bevatten verschrikkelijke details, Daardoor begrijp je beter wat er vroeger gebeurd is. (Lees verder in de reacties)
"Cierń" T. Kingfisher, 8/10 Za książkę w ramach współpracy dziękuję @sqn_imaginatio. _ "Cierń" to króciutka książka z gatunku fantasy spod pióra amerykańskiej pisarki. Jest to moje pierwsze spotkanie z autorką, które okazało się bardzo udane. T. Kingfisher stworzyła swoją wersję "Śpiącej Królewny", w której to królewna nie gra głównej roli. Za sprawą książki poznajemy Ropuszkę, którą w dzieciństwie porwano i przeniesiono do Magicznej Krainy. To właśnie tam bohaterka była wychowywana przez wodnice, dzięki którym zyskała zdolność zmiany w żabę. Pewnego dnia Ropuszka została wysłana do świata ludzi, gdzie jako wróżka miała pobłogosławić nowonarodzone dziecko. Nie wszystko poszło zgodnie z planem i tak zaczęły się kłopoty naszej głównej bohaterki. Bardzo polubiłam Ropuszkę, na której barkach spoczął wielki ciężar związany z ratowaniem ludzkiego królestwa. Ponadto postać Halima, czyli łagodnego rycerza, który wyruszył na poszukiwania uwięzionej księżniczki wywołała we mnie wiele pozytywnych uczuć. Całość została zachowana w baśniowym i pełnym magii klimacie, co sprawiło, że książka dała mi ogrom ciepła, chociaż w całej historii pojawiają się również smutniejsze momenty. "Cierń" to krótka lektura, która z pewnością pozostanie ze mną na długo.
