I hear they revoke your Bookstagram membership if you don’t visit a bookstore on Indie Bookstore Day, so clearly I HAD to go book shopping today. Don’t blame me, Booksta made me crazy🎵 etc etc Anyway, I am wildly fortunate because I live by two fantastic indie bookstores. They receive so much of my money!!! Love that for them!!! If either of them ever go out of business, it will be the loss of my life. (Can you tell I’ve been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift?) @burkesbookstore and @novelmemphis are fabulous bookstores and if you ever find yourself in Memphis, definitely make time to visit them both. The top three books were FREE 😱 because they are old ARCs. I actually have Where You End as an eARC but always prefer a physical copy to read. The other two I’ve never heard of, but are both nonfiction and sound fascinating. In the bottom row: ✨Nickel Boys is a summer reading option for sophomores (AKA my current students) and I like being able to talk to them about what book they choose to read for the summer ✨I know nothing about In the Forest except that it’s a literary thriller, which is my bread and butter. ✨Via Negativa is another one I know nothing about, but the author lives in Memphis and the blurb on the back sounds so intriguing. Plus the bookseller told me he loved it AND that the author is a really great guy, so I’m feeling good about it. ✨The Best We Could Do is a graphic memoir AND it was on sale! Never heard of it, but just glancing through it sold me. #QOTD have you made any book purchases lately? “Sometimes the quietest love is the loudest” 😭 Where do I even start with this one. I loved everything about it. I am all for a forced proximity trope when done well!! 👏🏻 I loved Indy and her personality.. she is my soul sister what with hiding herself away with a good book, the iced coffees, trying to please everyone.. I enjoyed watching her blossom so much around Ryan! The author gave her time to heal and didn’t just rush her into another relationship which I appreciated.. and I especially enjoyed her ditching that horrible group of friends and finding her own people. Ryan Ryan Ryan.. what a man! Honestly.. he hurts my heart so much in a good way! 🥹 Sometimes in a book when the character has a big secret and reason for having their guard up it falls flat once the secret comes out. But once you get to know Ryan and find out why he is the way he is it’s just so believable and made me love him even more. I actually can’t even cope with him.. the iced coffees.. the flowers… THE BOOKSHELF!!! All the little things he done for her .. I just loved how he done all these things for her and how they became friends and soulmates!.. Absolute couple goals and perfection. 🤌 Other amazing parts: The nickname blue. 🥹 Indy’s friendship with Rio! ❤️ Their little fridge lists! 😫 The dedication at the start of this also got me in the feels. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! Catch and Keep by Erica Hahn was a light romance that flew by. I really enjoyed both of the main characters, Joe and Maren, and the serene small town setting. As someone who works with kids with disabilities and their families, I really appreciated the author’s storyline of Joe’s daughter having ASD and getting a glimpse of what that looks like both as the child and as the parent. I struggled a bit with too many subplots and wanting more development with some of the friends and family members in this book, but overall enjoyed this cozy read! 3/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

📚 Book Review 📚 Title: "A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 I was so excited to read this because I'd been saving this for my vacation for a while. My expectations were high due to all the rave reviews I read - but unfortunately they were a bit too high 🙈 It took me about half of the book to get into the story and then I really liked it but I've already seen so many spoilers about the lovestory that I was a bit disappointed by how things will work out (trying hard not to put in spoilers myself so keeping it vague 😉). One thing I really liked was Feyre, she's strong and still relatable ❤ In the end, to me it felt like the story was nicely wrapped up with a bow and the cliffhangers or open storylines wouldn't tease me enough to read on. But as I heard from many sources that book two is supposed to surpass number one, I'll read it anyhow 😊 Swipe for the entry in my reading challenge journal!

I will say I loved the unique plot line it was super sweet and cute and I love when people who have suffered get the love they deserved in the end. I will continually shout how I would love to see Harvey get his own stand-alone book, I absolutely have adored that man throughout this series. •Ausgelesen• Episches Finale Das Buch konnte ich wirklich nur in kleinen Stücken lesen, denn es war ein absolutes Feuerwerk an Ereignissen. Es geht gewohnt brutal und heftig weiter und erreicht nun seinen Höhepunkt. Im dritten Band bin ich auch endgültig mit dem Schreibstil warm geworden und konnte so richtig darin eintauchen. Wir verfolgen quasi permanent 3 Schauplätze gleichzeitig, es wird einfach vom einen zum anderen Satz gewechselt. Das hätte etwas sehr dramatisches und ich fand es insgesamt sehr stimmig (das ist aber definitiv nicht für jeden was). Es passiert aber natürlich auch dementsprechend viel und ich habe immer relativ schnell eine Erholungspause gebraucht. Schon fand ich, dass nach dem großen Showdown nochmal ein paar Seiten Ruhe eingekehrt ist und man noch den weiteren Lebensweg der Charaktere nachverfolgen konnte. Insgesamt war es zum Teil wirklich heftig, aber auch stellenweise wirklich traurig. C.E. Bernard hat hier definitiv etwas einzigartiges erschaffen.

The Kiss of Deception is the perfect book for those new to fantasy. Lia flees on her wedding day not wanting to marry someone she has never met. She tries to start a new life in a small town, not knowing the two new strangers are a handsome assassin sent to kill her and her very own dashing jilted prince betrothed. But who is who?! The first half was more cozy fantasy, where you watch the day to day tasks in a small town. It did pick up more especially in the last 25%. Lia was such an amazing character with so much strength. Ik vond het wél heel leuk om m'n feed door te scrollen. Ik heb een hele ontwikkeling doorgemaakt.😄 Van regelmatig wazige foto's waarbij een deel van het boek buiten het frame valt, tot nooit meer wazige foto's waarbij nog maar af en toe een deel van het boek buiten het frame valt.😄 Dat gaat soms nog steeds niet helemaal goed. Hier en daar las ik wat recensies en ik mag graag denken dat ik ook daarin wat beter en iets uitgebreider ben geworden. Ik hoop dat ik nog veel jaren mag bijleren.😊 Als Lizzy per ongeluk viral gaat op Instagram met een eerlijke post over het moederschap, wordt ze overspoeld met berichten. Meerdere agentschappen willen haar vertegenwoordigen als ‘momfluencer’. Door het online werk zijn geldzorgen al snel verleden tijd. Maar daar staat wel iets tegenover: Lizzy’s inbox stroomt vol met nare berichten en bedreigingen van zowel de moedermaffia als van internettrollen. Lizzy rond haar laatste opdrachten af en wil stoppen als influencer. Maar het is te laat. Als Lizzy Ivy wil wekken van haar middagdutje, ligt ze niet meer in haar bedje. De boeken van de verhalenfabriek heb ik tegenwoordig helemaal gevonden. Tot nu toe las ik alleen feelgood. Zo leuk dat er ook thrillers worden uitgebracht door de verhalenfabriek! Dit verhaal zit echt goed in elkaar en het einde laat zich zeker niet raden. Leuk ook, om een kijkje te krijgen in de influencer wereld. Lijkt me toch wel heftig, al die nare reacties van mensen die je helemaal niet kent. Ik zou er niet zo goed tegen kunnen denk ik. Al met al is dit boek echt een aanrader als je zin hebt in wat bitesize spanning. In 2017, I decided I’d read more. I got a super expensive speeding ticket in Virginia and was pretty much broke after paying it. So, instead of spending my senior year of med school traveling, I read the books on my shelf. I started doodling and painting a bit to pay off the ticket. I started talking about books a little bit on my Instagram page. You all see where that’s gone. Once a little money came my way again, I signed up for the First Editions Club at @lemuriabooks, my famous local independent bookstore. They picked the signed book of the month, set it aside for me wrapped up all fancy, I pick it up, and I read it. I’m not exaggerating even a little bit when I say that it changed my life. I started seeing how many cool signed books they get in, and I started my own collection, which you’ve seen a lot of here on my page. They plugged me in with local newspapers for reviews. They’ve had a million great events where I’ve been able to meet my favorite authors. They feel like part of my extended family at this point. Here are a few books that I read thanks to Lemuria providing me access to them, signed by the author. I’ve learned to love so many authors I wouldn’t have read without their introducing me. @lemuriabooks is largely responsible slash to blame for the chaotic Bookstacontent you get here. I could see every single scene in my head as the author described it. Some parts had my jaw physically dropping. I enjoyed it so much. Of course there are some plot holes but that’s the beauty of cheesy horror. If you love to see shitty characters get their karmic ending then this is also perfect for you. This book definitely has some triggers. They tackle some troubles of being a woman (made me roll my eyes quite a bit) and some other darker topics. It’s very gory, so be aware of that. But it never took away from the story itself. Die Autorin Amelia Benson @amelia.benson.romancenovels empfiehlt für das volle Lesevergnügen sollten die Romane in der richtigen Reihenfolge gelesen werden und um mit der abgeschlossenen Handlung zu enden, sollte der Epilog ausgelassen werden. Erschienen am 23. Februar 2024, Verlag: Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing als eBook und Taschenbuch. 🏢 Meine Meinung: Wie bereits oben erwähnt, empfiehlt die Autorin, für eine Ende zum 1. Teil gegebenenfalls den Epilog wegzulassen. Dieser ist aber genauso geheimnisumworben um macht gerade neugierig auf mehr wie auch schon der Prolog. Leider löst sich dieses Rätsel auch noch nicht auf und wird in der Buchreihe weiter behandelt. Es geht um das Immobilienimperium von Maxwell Harrington. Auch sein mittlerer Sohn William ist teil des Harrington Real Estates und bekommt ein neues Projekt übertragen. Hierfür engagiert er die Architektin Arianna Blossom, die sogar von New York nach Philadelphia umzieht und vor vorne neu beginnt. Sie hat einen Schlussstrich von ihrem alten Leben gemacht und ist so auch wieder näher an ihrer Familie dran. William ist alleinerziehender Vater und hat der Liebe bisher keine neue Chance gegeben, zu weit ist er noch in seinen eigenen Gedanken gefangen. Aber er ist auch ein Arbeitstier und beide stürzen sich gemeinsam in ihre neue Aufgabe, mit erfolgt und kommen sich so unweigerlich näher. Doch dafür muss man sich auch frei von alten Zwängen fühlen. 🏢 Die erste Hälfte des Roman plätschert vor sich hin, zieht sich für mich auch etwas, bevor es so richtig los geht. Man lernt jedoch einiges zu den den verschiedenen mitwirkenden Charakteren. Diese mochte ich auch alle recht gerne nur das Oberhaupt der Familie ist eine ganz besondere Persönlichkeit und schwierig zu verstehen. Die Handlung kommt ohne großen Drama aus, das was da ist wird genutzt und auch wieder in Harmonie gebracht. Die zweite Hälfte war dadurch auch etwas rasanter und griffiger mit einigen Hürden. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

It’s a bit ironic that this book grew on me. If you’ve read it, you’ll get it. This is a rather dark fairytale, written like a classic horror with the twist of a strong female lead, which is my jam. It hooked me from the start, the suspense building took a bit, but once it did, I was there for the ride. Suffice it to say, I’ll be suspect of any mushrooms I consume for a while. 🍄

Aider de ses compagnons, Brume est bien décidée à découvrir pourquoi elle a disparu… _ 🦄 J’étais contente de retrouver cette jeune héroïne. Brume fait preuve de courage même si elle n’est pas toujours consciente du danger. Cela crée d’ailleurs un comique de situation car ses partenaires Hubert et Hugo, eux, voient bien ce qui les menace. On tremble avec eux. J’aime ce côté décalé que Brume instille sans le vouloir. Les aventures sont drôles également grâce aux erreurs de vocabulaire de Brume qui fait des jeux de mots sans le vouloir. Cette quête que mène la petite fille pour découvrir ses origines est touchante et mignonne. Comme dans le premier tome, j’avais très envie de pouvoir lui venir en aide car elle est attendrissante même si son côté intrépide me donne aussi envie de la sermonner. Le scénario est bien ficelé. Les évènements s’enchaînent et nous emportent dans la #lecture qui est très fluide. Il y a un petit suspense qui nous pousse à très vite finir la #bd. Les illustrations sont très jolies. Les couleurs créent une ambiance rassurante. C’est un plaisir pour les yeux. Petit bonus, à la fin, il y a un tuto pour créer sa baguette magique. _ Vivement la suite ! Prior to the ending, I was hooked and guessing the entire time. The book did drag on a bit at times, which was why it would have been 4 stars. The second book in The Cheat Sheet series follows another football player for the LA Sharks, Derek Pender. While it is not necessary for you to read the Cheat Sheet before The Rule Book, I am always a sucker for books that connect and think to get the full effect of the side characters, reading The Cheat Sheet first would be ideal. Nora Mackenzie’s career as a sports agent hangs on the back of tight end, Derek Pender. While Derek is a successful player for the LA Sharks and Nora’s first client, their relationship is also complicated because Derek is holding a grudge. After not seeing each other for years after this breakup, will the two be able to work together and create their own rules to make sure that this arrangement works? First off, I am not a sports girl by any stretch, but I loved The Cheat Sheet so much and was so excited to see that Sarah was expanding this series to include other characters. Although this is not my world, I loved seeing a female tackle the sports agency realm and to navigate her own insecurities in a field that is male dominated. Sarah is often the queen of the closed door romance, meaning that most scenes fade to black or there is only kissing. This one has a little bit more spice, but I appreciated that she shares what sections to skip if that is not your jam. Ultimately, while I enjoyed this and it made for a great audio experience, I just find that I enjoy the When in Rome series better and cannot wait to be back with those characters in 2025.
