¡Muy buenas tardes! Hoy os traigo la reseña de la tercera entrega de la serie de #marcelapieldelobo, de @susanarodriguezlez y publicada por @harpercollinsiberica. En esta entrega, Marcela se enfrentará a la desaparición de uno de los empresarios más ricos e influyentes de Pamplona, pero no por ello de los más queridos. La investigación me parece muy bien llevada, teniendo en cuenta la multitud de subtramas que van apareciendo a lo largo de la historia y los hilos de los que hay que ir tirando para desenredar la madeja. Una narración ágil y una trama donde nunca dejan de pasar cosas. Tal vez el comienzo es un pelín más lento. Con Marcela, la autora ha creado un personaje complicado, profundo, de muchas aristas. Un carácter difícil que le sirve de coraza a todo aquel que se quiera acercar, ya sea de manera profesional o sentimental. Por eso hay veces que el lector no puede entender su forma de actuar… porque ni ella mismo se entiende. Un personaje que me gusta mucho. Recomiendo leer la serie en orden para ir conociendo la evolución de muchos de los personajes, aunque las tramas son totalmente independientes. There is a lot of introspection within the characters of the story, so if you are fan of complex characters you will really enjoy this book. I quite enjoyed The Hollow Plane. I loved the diverse cast of characters and the story was really interesting. It ends on a cliffhanger so be aware of that, but the second book is releasing in just a few months so we will all get to see how the duology ends soon enough. the book about my beloved Nikolai Lantsov! As always I really enjoyed Leigh Bardugo's writing style and the world building. It's always a pleasure to return to the grishaverse. Even though the Shadow & Bone trilogy is my favourite grishaverse series, I was excited to read about Zoya and Nikolai and about Ravka after the Darkling. The changing narrative between Zoya's and Nikolai's perspective in Ravka and Nina's perspective in Fjerda brought dynamic into the story. This book also had me stressed. Unexpected turning points in the plot, new interesting characters. I was sooo anxious for the characters! 🙈 (Nikolai, Zoya and Nina are my top 3 favourite characters in the grishaverse) Nina's journey in Fjerda gives the reader another perspective on the country and on her as a character after the devastating end of Crooked Kingdom. Her journey with grief but also her, getting used to her new abilities gives even more depth to her character. This was one of my favourite reads in 2023! And can we talk about how gorgeous the dust jacket and the book itself are?! I think this book and "Rule of Wolves" are genuinely the prettiest books I own. Macie swoich ulubionych współczesnych autorów-rki, po których książki sięgacie bez zastanowienia? Ja mam kilka, ale jedną z nich jest na pewno Kate Morton. Nad przeczytaniem jej powieści zastanawiałam się już kilka lat temu, ale zrobiłam to dopiero dzięki serii butikowej. Zbieram wszystkie tomy, które się w niej ukazują, więc i tej autorki nie mogło u mnie zabraknąć. Poznawanie jej dzieł zaczęłam od „Milczącego zamku” i po kolei sięgałam po kolejne tytuły. Póki co największe wrażenie wywarł na mnie „Strażnik tajemnic”. Nie mogłam się oderwać od tej historii, a z każdą kolejną stroną chciałam więcej i więcej. Morton piszę swoje powieści w niezwykle intrygujący sposób. Dzięki temu, że przeplata między sobą wydarzenia z różnych lat, nie czuje się upływu czasu, a kolejne strony przewracają się niemal same. Wielkim atutem jej powieści jest to, że głównymi bohaterkami są świetnie napisane kobiety. Losy każdej z nich są niezwykle ciekawe. Ujawniane są partiami, więc wraz z rozwojem wydarzeń poznajemy je coraz lepiej. Nie raz przekonałam się, że moja początkowa ocena postaci była zbyt pochopna. Ten zabieg pozwala nam też poznać różne perspektywy tych samych wydarzeń, co bardzo lubię. Te książki, które czytałam napisane są według podobnego schematu, ale w ogóle mi to nie przeszkadza. Niezmiennie każde zakończenie bardzo mnie poruszyło. Na pewno sięgnę po kolejne dzieła tej pisarki. In faux leather I bought this book in a second hand book store. I haven’t finished this story yet as I am finding it quite hard going. It’s quite depressing and I am not sure if it’s my state of mind or whether Dickens isn’t for me. I know the story, so all I can say is thank goodness for Mr Brownlow. The moral so far for me is stick by the people that love you and want the best for you. Recensione del #gdlfemmitologico: 📖 "L'urlo di Fedra" di Laura Shepperson 🐍🐍🐍 Credo che su un personaggio interessante come quello di Fedra si potesse fare molto di più. Non è stato un libro brutto da leggere, ma forse un pochino deludente. 😢 In primis, l'ho trovato lento. Sarebbe potuto essere notevolmente più scorrevole se fossero stati applicati giusto due o tre accorgimenti nella struttura del testo, è un peccato che a tratti risulti tedioso. 🥱 Per quanto riguarda la storia in sé, diciamo che il mito è stato davvero MOLTO interpretato. Da una parte la cosa mi è piaciuta perché si va incontro ad aspetti più "umani" per via della piega che gli è stata data, dall'altra essendo un retelling mitologico ho sentito abbastanza la mancanza della parte "divina", degli intrighi tra déi e mortali, di tutti gli intrecci fra divinità, dei loro caratteri burrascosi. Persino Teseo ed Eracle, che essendo eroi sono coloro che più si avvicinano solitamente a carattere e atteggiamento degli déi, mi sono sembrati molto sottotono. Unica nota in questo senso positiva, è il marcato egoismo senza scrupoli di Teseo, che era molto in stile divinità piena di superbia. 💪🏻 Mi è piaciuto particolarmente invece è stato il fatto che da un certo punto del libro la trama ponga l'accento sulla questione della violenza sulle donne e della denuncia. Qui emergono molti fattori emotivi: la paura, l'umiliazione, la ribellione, il coraggio, la lotta, la disillusione, l'ardore di Fedra. Il libro mostra anche come le donne possano essere, spesso, le nemiche di sé stesse: le altre ragazze del palazzo subiscono quel che Fedra ha accusato sulla propria pelle e se all'inizio la spalleggiano tentando di consolarla e proteggerla, poi si rivelano restie a prendere le sue difese e anzi la accusano di aver sbagliato a voler denunciare la violenza che le è stata arrecata. 🩸 Molto particolare la scelta di strutturare l'opera come fosse una tragedia greca divisa in tre atti. Ho trovato bellissimi gli intramezzi del "coro notturno" fra un capitolo e l'altro. 🎶 I personaggi più interessanti a mio avviso sono stati Trifone e l'ancella di Fedra. 🔝 💙 conoscete il mito di Fedra?

Por ser muito fã do RuPaul, estava muito ansioso para ler essa biografia desde que soube do lançamento nos EUA. Ru conta sua história desde a infância predestinada ao sucesso por uma vidente até o alcance do sucesso. Não chega nos dias atuais e nem nos programas de TV RuPaul´s Drag Race que a deixaram famosa em escala mundial, mas relata sua juventude difícil, a relação com as drogas e com a família, a busca pela fama e sucesso, os insucessos amorosos e como conheceu seu marido. Confesso que esperava conhecer um pouco mais sobre outros aspectos de sua vida. O livro é mais um relato dele sobre a relação com as drogas do que de fato a relação com a fama e o sucesso, mas é um relato honesto de uma pessoa que se drogou desde os 10 anos de idade e que tinha um único objetivo na vida que era ser famoso. Mas para quem gosta do artista, vale conhecer um pouco mais sobre sua vida. Ich hab schon ein paar gesehen, aber nur von außen xD darum war ich sehr gespannt auf das Buch und dem Urlaubsflair 🌊 Leider wurde ich enttäuscht 🥺 Es gibt wenige Tropes die ich gar nicht mag. Aber ON-OFF-Beziehungen mit viel Miscommunication und Einmischung von Fremden, trifft absolut nicht mein Geschmack. Das Kreuzfahrtschiff Setting war echt cool! 📚 #BookReview - #TheMurderAtTheVicarage by @officialagathachristie #ReadChristie2024 - April Selection (1930s) April’s Read Christie selection kicks off the next decade, with 1930s THE MURDER AT THE VICARAGE, the first of the Marple novels. This book really is a fine example of Christie’s plotting prowess, as it’s a beautifully layered and intricate mystery with a wonderfully logical conclusion. Along the way, almost everyone becomes a suspect and it’s a fantastic example of literary misdirection and surprising plot twists (before they were the backbone of crime fiction marketing!). I throughly enjoyed trying to follow along with the suspicions and attempt to form my own theories. As always, Christie expertly veils the truth, so that the final revelation comes as a surprise and yet feels so blindingly obvious. This is a very neat mystery, which ties up all the loose ends that have come unravelled along the way. It’s resplendent with suspects - virtually everyone has something against victim, Protheroe - which allows for so many potential motives. One thing that has surprised me with the Marple mysteries I’ve read so far, is how little she appears in the novel. This is no different, as the story is told from the perspective of the local vicar, Clement. As such a key character, I always expect Marple to be more prominent. Having said that, what this does mean, is that her appearances are noteworthy and it’s clear that nobody can match her intellect or intuition in St. Mary Mead! Telling the story from the Vicar’s perspective does allow for a lot of wit to be interspersed between the mystery. Clement is a very humorous character and I enjoyed his observations and some of his slightly unchristian remarks. This blend of wit and mystery makes THE MURDER AT THE VICARAGE just as readable and enjoyable today as it was upon release in 1930!

The story in the book ‘Day’ by Michael Cunningham unfolds across three days: a morning in 2019, a locked-down afternoon in 2020 during the Covid pandemic, and an evening in 2021—each marked by the same date, April 5. In a Brooklyn apartment, we encounter a cast of characters: the mother Isabel, yearning for escape even before the virus confines her and Dan her husband, who’s an aging musician, who are slowly but surely drifting apart. They have two children and then there’s Isabel’s gay brother who lives in the flat at the top of their house, but who’s getting ready to move out. The book touches on many different subjects like sibling relationships, marital bonds, and parental love. The author shows us the complexities of family ties, the joys , the tensions, and the quiet sacrifices. I found this a really good and easy read. Funny at times, but quite emotional in other parts.
