Today, we wrapped up our semester long It’s a Money Thing Thursdays (though we got pretty loose with the Thursday part there for a bit) with Coach Hill’s Senior Econ class. This is actually the second year in a row we’ve partnered together to co-facilitate financial education to kind of the perfect demographic: seniors about to graduate. And he was even ok with ending this year’s time together on a non-financial note but one of my favorite topics to talk to students about: confidence! Because our confidence in ourselves or lack thereof really does affect every area of our lives—up to and including our career. Coach Hill! Thank you very much for giving up so much instruction time to invest in a very important part of your students’ lives. And thank you for trusting me again to help support that. Glad I passed my audition last year! 😊 Truly hope they all had at least a few good takeaways from the presentations… They were a pretty great group! You really cannot beat the fist bump, or “This was really helpful. El 2 de mayo se celebra el Día Internacional contra el Bullying o el Acoso Escolar, con el objetivo de concientizar sobre el riesgo del acoso escolar y el bullying en los niños y jóvenes a nivel mundial, así como buscar los mecanismos para evitar este mal y establecer un protocolo de actuación, que hoy, se ha convertido en un terrible peligro para la población infantil y juvenil. El Bullying o acoso escolar es la forma de comportarse o dirigirse a otra persona ya sea de forma verbal o física, causando un daño temporal o permanente en la víctima. Es un tipo de hostigamiento reiterativo de una o más personas hacia sus semejantes, en los cuales la persona sufre de amenazas, intimidación, manipulación e inclusive, agresiones físicas. Aunque siempre ha existido el maltrato y las agresiones entre la población infantil y los jóvenes, en los últimos años este problema se ha agravado, trayendo como resultado, lamentables consecuencias que pueden marcar para siempre la vida no sólo del afectado sino de su núcleo familiar. Se sabe que cuando un niño o adolescente es agredido de manera verbal o física comienza a mostrar una serie de comportamientos bastantes característicos como un bajo rendimiento escolar, síntomas de depresión, baja autoestima y en el peor de los casos, el deseo de atentar contra su vida. No podemos ser indiferentes ante una problemática que afecta a miles de niños y jóvenes en todo el mundo. Se necesita crear conciencia desde el hogar y las escuelas para que este flagelo acabe definitivamente. May is #mentalhealthawarenessmonth 🧠 While we’ve made leaps and bounds as a society, mental health still has a stigma - especially in the military. I am immensely grateful for @dr.scott.eilers as I’ve navigated my career in the Air Force. I’ve watched nearly all of his Youtube videos and I am thrilled to have received his book today as well! As someone who had my start in family medicine, and currently works in pediatrics, I utilize the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 with my patients daily. I want to encourage everyone that mental health is just as (if not more so) important as physical health. This family owned pharmacy was a perfect start to the day — from med sync discussions to submitting their application for Provider Status.. it was a fabulous start to our day! Headed over to 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟓𝟕 in Reading where Dipak and his team have a 75% of their patients med sync!!!! And hired a social worker (plus others) to help care for their patients.. through the conversations, the technician who is also a social worker — joined PPA and will be attending our DPP trainings (so cool!!!!!) We were able to help with e-care plans, payor programs & share resources for a technician to become a Community Health Worker!!! These pharmacies are the definition of #ChangingTheWorld . It was truly an incredible day seeing first hand their workflow, processes and community relationships. They are innovative in their approaches.. what an inspiring day! Highlights: - as Leos and Leo Lions we had an opportunity to have a session with LCIF Area 8 Development Specialist, Catherine Celimene from our HQ - I received my individual MJF pin in recognition of the US1000 which was donated in my name by our DGE Lion Crunch Kenosi. - I also received on behalf of our District 412A Leos, the MJF in recognition of the US1000 we have donated collectively as Leos to LCIF - We also celebrated the District Governor Elects. - Constitutional Area 8 GAT Leader PID Lion Dr Hastings Chiti also addressed multiple sessions particularly on our responsibility as Leos and Lions to invite more hands to serve and help reach our #Mission1.5 - Receiving an Excellence Award from DG Lion Siphiwe, a pin for participation from Dr Chiti - I also met my incoming co Panelist Leo Lion Nina from Malawi.
