The Charlotte Community showed up again to support and show love to the CMPD officers injured and killed this week. ๐ค๐๐ค Paxi wore a blue collar and black bandana that read "Do What You Love" because we know every first responder here and everywhere puts their own safety in danger to do what they love, even knowing the consequences can last forever. The man in the 4th picture saluted EVERY... SINGLE... VEHICLE that drove through the procession. Another man across the street held a salute for well over an hour as the procession continued with every form of law enforcement (including a Fish & Wildlife vehicle) from hundreds of miles each direction, to honor CMPD Eyer and the community! Hey everyone. I usually donโt ask for money more than once or twice a month for @cltbsa but this month our expenses have gone through the roof. We had to pay to renew our website for another year, which is $432; the storage unitโs rates have increased AGAIN (last year at this time it was $255 - this month it has gone up to $445!) & we have our normal Google workspace thatโs $48 a month. Thatโs a grand total of $925! Our normal monetary donations usually donโt exceed $50 a month and Iโm truly grateful for that, but this is a lot for me, especially since itโs 1/4 of my teaching salary. Iโm asking for $1000 in donations to help lighten the load for this month and next month, especially since Iโm getting my last paycheck for the summer at the end of May. Hereโs a few smiling moments from one of our recent tutoring sessions! โบ๏ธ๐๐ Every Monday and Wednesday, our students are paired with a tutor for one-on-one skill building for reading. They begin their time with an individualized reading lesson on their Chromebook. Then, they work with their tutor to build reading fluency/comprehension through either reading buddies, personalized skill-building lessons, or homework help. We implement a program called i-Ready as a tool to determine how to best meet each studentโs academic needs. Having tutors work side-by-side with the students helps build relationships while strengthening reading skills. Regional Sales Manager, Nate, started a Community Pond Day event at one of his Charlotte communities a few years ago. Every year since then it has gotten a little larger and more of the community gets involved. The most recent Pond Day was this past Earth Day and it was quite the event! Nate and Client Service Manager, Wes, gathered to celebrate with the community. The community had food trucks, balloon animals, fly fishing lessons, and more. Nate provided fun snacks like gummy worms and goldfish crackers. Team Dragonfly released sterile grass carp to help clean up the pond vegetation and all of the kids released mosquito fish into the pond by themselves.
