I am so grateful for the industry I work in and all the things I get to see on my travels and field scouts. Field find this week was a skull in the middle of the field and thank goodness I chose to bring my camera yesterday. Composition is such an important concept for landscape and so I didn't know how to take a photo of it. I had a skull, in the middle of the field, with zero leading lines. I come onto this app for many reasons, but since I started many years ago those reasons have changed! When I started I wanted to share my life on the road and then my first pup and then my first child! As my photography skills got a bit better I started a business and hoped my followers would grow… I wanted to be featured on hubs and seen by other photographers! I took part in a variety of groups sharing artists and comment groups to try to boost each other’s work! I made friends and went to conferences to improve my skills and get better at the social media game. However, time has passed and this space has changed like most things do. I miss the friendships and chats but am grateful for those who try to stay in touch! There are still many times I take a photo and think of another artist and it’s because of this space (for example, like this image; anytime my kid jumps I think of my friend Tara @taraherron_photography) I’ve tried different lighting situations and angles all because I saw someone else do something unique (sometimes unknowingly) and I wanted to try something new too! Lots of my images have failed but I’ve been able to grow as an artist because of the inspiration I get from friends here! This space is unique and I’m grateful for everyone who is here commenting and giving my pictures a heart! My reasons for sharing are less goal driven and I don’t care about the numbers at all! I’m here to share moments that I’ve captured with my kiddos why’ll sharing the small and big shops who I get to collaborate with. These opportunities would not be possible without this space so again I’m grateful! Thank you for sticking around and going on this journey with moi!!! You are amazing!

"The Moon and the Lighthouse II" A few months ago, I found out that there was going to be a full Moon and that it would rise right behind George Island's Lighthouse, a very well-known place here in Halifax, so I told my photographer friend @anchorsaweighns about it and together we headed to the exact spot to be at the right moment to try to get a spectacular photo of that landscape. We waited with great excitement and just when the moment arrived, it didn't show where it was supposed to come out. Worried, we thought that we would not be able to see it because it got a little cloudy and we thought that would be enough to hide it. After several minutes of uncertainty, I finally managed to visualize a large white ball in my viewfinder. There it was, only a few meters further to the left, so it was covered by the small hill and that's why we didn't see it before when it just came out. In the end, despite some small calculation errors (the moon was higher over the lighthouse than we would have liked) and the clouds, I managed to get a beautiful photograph but above all, an immense advance compared to my first attempt "The Moon and the Lighthouse" that I shared a few years ago. Mange 😔 . . This Coyote is sadly being effected by Mange. Mange is a tiny mite, like lice, that causes a skin infection that creates a severe reaction and inflammation in the affected area. The affected animal will then bite or naw at the infected area and will help increase hair loss. (You can see it on the coyotes tail) . . The hair loss is a major factor in the cause of death to the animal. The hair doesn’t grow back and when winter comes the area has no protection from the cold and the animal dies from hypothermia. . . Animals with Mange are often seen behaving strangely. This coyote was traveling with another coyote that was infected and they were out in the middle of a field in broad daylight. From what I have read online, mange does not cause coyotes to become violent. They will try and seek shelter in urban areas becuse they want to try and find the easiest food sources possible. . . There are a lot of mixed opinions on what to do when you find a coyote with Mange. One of my favourite books is “Coyote America” by Dan Flores.
