And while I LOVE water tables and the versatility of them, I know they aren’t the most space conscious option! So what to do? Use things you likely already have and ADD water! This is perfect for the summer months coming up too!! 🌞🌞 It is such an easy way to keep your children occupied and you can incorporate a ton of different themes, ideas and language boosting activities throughout! I often let my kids take the lead on what they want to do but sometimes, I set up the scenario where we “bathe” our toys! Growing up practically attached to her toy karaoke machine and Fisher Price cassette player, it is not surprising that Sarah found her passion in a career rooted in communication! 🎥 BRITTANY HOFFMIRE MS, CCC-SLP Brittany enjoys watching movies from the 80’s and 90’s. Her favorites include: Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, and Beetlejuice. You may also see her sporting fun socks with those movies on them. ✈️ KELLIE IVIE, MS, CCC-SLP Kellie loves to travel. She has been to Ireland, Italy, England, Whales, Mexico, US Virgin Islands, and several states throughout the US. A few places she wishes to visit someday include Hawaii, California, Australia, and Greece. 🎶 LAUREN DEPPE MA, CCC-SLP Lauren has a whole other resume built for her semi-professional career in musical theatre! For the past 13 years or so, I have done an ABC Countdown to Summer with my day home. When I first started this tradition, it was very teacher directed, I picked all the ideas, etc. However, about 10 years ago, I revamped it to make it more child led. The ABCs may seem adult led, but each year I have done this, I have had at least one older child who is very interested in letters and printing. This year is no exception. Each day is based on a child interest and will involve invitations or provocation, special food, or music. or a play based experience. I love this tradition, and most importantly, the children do too. To add about W day...all the children in my program love watermelon, and I come from a German/Mennonite background and we always eat watermelon with Rollkuchen (a fried dough sprinkled with powdered sugar), in case anyone is curious what Rollkuchen is.
