【世界獣医の日】 〜オリバーを偲んで〜 2010年4月、アニマルズアジアのベアーレスキューセンターに保護された、オリバー オリバーは長年、中国の胆汁農場の小さなケージで過ごし、胆汁採取をされていました。 オリバーを救助・搬送するとき、オリバーを載せたトラックは、ひどい交通渋滞に巻き込まれました。 そのとき、オリバーの容態が急変したため、トラックの中で獣医による、緊急処置が行われました。 これは、雨と寒さの中での、警察による道路整備・誘導や、地元の病院のサポートにより可能となりました。 その後、無事に成都のベアーレスキューセンターに到着することができたのです。 それから4年の間、オリバーはベアーレスキューセンターの草の上やプールで遊び、穏やかに過ごすことができました。 オリバー、2014年11月12日 永眠。 今、ベアーレスキューセンターの片隅で、静かに眠っています。 私たちは獣医チームと、オリバーのために協力してくださった、現地のたくさんの人々のこと、決して忘れません。 そしてもちろん、オリバーのことも。 ※記録によるとオリバーは、所有者が購入し、10年間胆汁採取のケージにいたとのことですが、その前の農場主のところには20年間いたとのことです。 よって30年あまり、小さなケージで過ごしてきたことになります。 写真はアニマルズアジアのXより #アニマルズアジア #アニマルズアジアサポートグループジャパン #animalsasia #animalsasiasupportgroupjapan #bear #熊 #クマ

🌷 How is our beautiful Tulip doing? 🌷 A few days after we rescued Tulip from a tiny cage, we're so pleased to share that she is slowly starting to come out of her shell and show some of her gorgeous personality! 🩺Tulip's Health 🩺 The vet team gave us an update on Tulip's health. They discovered that she has kyphosis which is an abnormally curved spine. Spinal conditions are, as you can imagine, common in bears that have spent decades in one small space. She's also a little skinny and when we rescued her, was quite dehydrated. Her ears were dirty and her eyes had white discharge and were very wet but are otherwise normal. She is missing her right front paw, but her stump is smooth. Her right front elbow is hard to extend, when we do an x-ray in a few weeks during her first full health check we'll find out why this is. Her skin on both elbows is dry, thick and bald and her belly is 50% bald. Her other limbs have good movement. During the ultrasound at rescue, we found she has a stone in her gallbladder that we will remove. She is missing one canine tooth and another is fractured so we're giving her pain medication which should also help with any pain in her stump. She takes these each morning with banana and honey which she loves! ❤ A sweet, calm bear ❤ The team love Tulip, her main carer Gai says she is a 'gentle, sweet and cute' bear who is very calm. We were fortunate enough to be able to visit the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre in Tam Dao. This is where Sun and Moon bears find some peace after enduring horrific lives on bear bile farms. This is the practice of keeping these beautiful creatures locked up, often in cages much much smaller than the ones you see in the photos and repeatedly stabbing a needle into their gallbladder or having a catheter or keeping a wound open continually, to drain them of their bile to be used in "traditional medicine" 🙄🔫. Unfortunately some of the bears have lived through so much stress that they never fully recover and even though they now have space and enrichment, they still pace in an area the same size as the cage they used to live in 😢. However some do and this place gives them the best possible conditions to live out the rest of their lives happy. The centre is only open to donators and only for 2 days each month. It's heart warming to see a place that is truly ethical and not run for profit ♥️. How are our flower bears getting on? 🌷🐻🌼🐻🌻🐻 Almost a week after being rescued from 20 years on a bear bile farm, Daffodil, Primrose and Snowdrop are starting to adjust to their new surroundings and carers. Snowdrop is the sweetest, most gentle bear who has an incredible appetite so our carers are feeding him lots of fresh, tasty treats. He watches the carers as they go about their work and seems very content. Primrose is a 'princess', Ellie told us! She is quite nervous and is easily startled, though our carers spend a lot of time talking to her in gentle voices and giving her lots of regular treats to build bonds and trust with her. Daffodil was incredibly stressed during the rescue and continued to be agitated and scared for the first few days after arriving at our sanctuary. However, he absolutely loves water so our team are giving him plenty of cool showers and ice blocks which calm him down and distract him. This is such a sad and worrying sight. The Lions Park rescue sanctuary (this is where Gingerbread, Date and the new little bear cub live) the rain has been relentless and as you can see the enclosures for the big cats are already badly flooded. All their animals are safe at the moment including the bears but everyone is praying for the rain to stop! As you can imagine there is going to be the need for not only a massive clear up but also many things need repairing or replacing to ensure all of their animals remain in a safe sanctuary in the environment that is needed for them to live as close to the wild as possible. These people rarely ask for help with donations but when the need is desperate for their animals and people are also desperate to help, they ask. 🐻 Cocoon đồng hành cùng Tổ Chức Động Vật Châu Á AAF ra mắt sản phẩm "Cao xoa thảo dược bảo vệ gấu" Diện tích rừng tự nhiên ngày càng bị thu hẹp, thêm vào đó là nạn săn bắn, khai thác bừa bãi và sự “thần thánh hóa” các công dụng của mật gấu đã đẩy loài gấu, đặc biệt là gấu ngựa tại nước ta đi đến nguy cơ tuyệt chủng. Hiện nay, gấu là một trong những loại động vật quý hiếm được sự bảo vệ của pháp luật, vì thế, trên hành trình cứu trợ gấu và chấm dứt nạn nuôi gấu lấy mật tại Việt Nam, một trong những hành động quan trọng của Tổ chức Động vật Châu Á AAF chính là phát triển sản phẩm thay thế mật gấu từ thảo dược với công dụng tương tự nằm tuyên truyền, giáo dục nâng cao ý thức trong cộng động về mật gấu mà vẫn đáp ứng được nhu cầu bảo vệ sức khỏe cho người dân. Dự án này đã được AAF và Cocoon thảo luận từ 2 năm về trước với nhiều trăn trở và sự dày công nghiên cứu kỹ lưỡng. Ngày 19/3 vừa qua, 20.000 sản phẩm "Cao xoa thảo dược bảo vệ gấu" đã chính thức được ra mắt tại xã Phụng Thượng (Phúc Thọ, Hà Nội) – đây là một trong những địa phương có số lượng gấu nuôi nhốt lớn nhất cả nước. Cao xoa thảo dược sẽ được phát miễn phí cho người dân có nhu cầu sử dụng. Nhà sáng lập của AAF - Tiến Sĩ Jill Robinson Mbe chia sẻ trong buổi lễ ra mắt: “Từ khi Tổ chức Động vật Châu Á bắt đầu cứu hộ gấu, chúng tôi không chỉ tìm cách giúp đỡ gấu mà còn mong muốn tạo ra sản phẩm có thể thay thế thói quen sử dụng mật gấu của người dân. Hyper-realistic oil painting has been utilised to represent the continuous cycle of violence. These bears are bred, caged and farmed, to be kept in a state of trauma, for bile extraction, for use in traditional Asian medicines, and luxury goods (Sukanan & Anthony , 2019). The wooden dowel and the lock symbolise the bars in which the bears are confined behind, from birth until death. The close-up image of a bear’s face and paw, represents the perpetual barriers that prevent their peace and freedom. In addition, the combination of bear bile products on a panel, depicts the root cause and truth of human greed. These products are the result of the bile extraction process depicted in another one of the panels. The name of this artwork is directly inspired by the organisation Animals Asia
