Versatile hand-loomed cashmere gauze. Warm enough under a jacket to brace yourself against the winter wind, light enough that you can easily layer this over your clothes as an accessory. . . . As for the rest of your weather appropriate gear, let’s talk quality over quantity. If you’re an adult, you probably don’t want to go around looking like a lumpy little kid stuffed into a snowsuit. It’s impractical (because movement), and unnecessary. Sure, not everyone can (or wants to, or even needs to) invest in a crazy expensive coat, but I’m talking base layers. Barely there winter silks, smart wool socks. Windproof gloves. A warm and soft scarf to protect your face. I’ve got the scarves, and the Maynard Outdoor Store has you covered (literally) for the rest, but if nothing else - if you’re the type of person that goes outside during winter, please get yourself some silks. They are a game changer. While everyone else looks like that kid from A Christmas Story, you can be out in the world, in regular clothes, not resembling a potato sack stuck inside of a sleeping bag. New exhibit with works by the Monotype Guild of New England at ArtSpace Maynard with opening reception on Saturday December 15, 2018 from 5-7pm. The show runs from December 5 through January 11. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday 4-6pm (Mini ArtSpace Artists' Open Studios on Saturday December 15 from 4-6pm) For over 30 years the Monotype Guild of New England, a national nonprofit organization run by volunteers, has been dedicated to the exploration and promotion of the “unique” print.” This exhibit celebrates the work of several monotype artists that have dedicated themselves to this medium and to our organization as past and present board members. Founded in 1985 by a group of New England printmakers, membership in the Monotype Guild of New England is open to all artists working in the medium. At present we have over 250 artist members from all over the United States. The Guild promotes the medium through exhibitions, workshops, lectures and other programming. MGNE has curated over 100 print exhibitions since its inception.
