This was an interesting morning. I took a few zoom photos later over Brisbane Water, but this was essentially the only photo I took on this morning stroll. Hadn't been out for months and decided to head out for a morning session. Problem is, when I was out there I couldn't have felt less inspired if I possibly tried. I trudged up this steep hill for a while but couldn't see anything I even wanted to take the camera out the bag for. Thankfully, just as I was about to head back down and call it, this tree, kind of perfectly "flanked" by the other four caught my gaze. And then when the sun peered out over the horizon it provided a glow that wasn't in the frame that originally caught my eye, but I thought added quite nicely to it. Anyway, I took this shot, didn't mind it, walked on for about another two minutes before actually calling it a morning. These giant Eucalyptus trees were viewed in the Dandenong ranges at Olinda falls. The scale is hard to convey via photos but can you see the person on the track, albeit a small person… I say giant because that’s how they feel walking amongst them and yet they are probably only youngish trees, with potentially 100s of years left to grow, in part thankfully due to the ceasement of logging here in the 1960s and the formation of a national park. Gestern ging es auf den letzten großen Ausflug hier: einmal entlang der Great Ocean Road. Die Gruppe war nett und die Stopps alle schön. Es ging nach Torquay an der Surf Coast, wir sahen Känguruhs und fanden einen Koala, danach ging es auf eine kurze Regenwaldwanderung. Natürlich durften die Twelve Apostel und Gibson's Steps nicht fehlen. Sehr schön, aber viel zu überfüllt am 12 Apostel Lookout. Der letzte Stopp war an der Loch Ard Gorge, wo das Schiff Loch Ard verunglückte und nur zwei Passagiere sich retten konnten.

While staying at Bream Creek we were very fortunate to be able to ditch the van for a day and take a scenic flight and boat cruise to Bathurst Harbour in the Southwest National Park. We flew with @paraviontas in a small 6 seater plane and luckily for us it was a still day and therefore a smooth flight. All the people involved from Par Avion including the pilots and tour guide were fantastic and had a great knowledge of the area. Israelite Bay, WA: heading east from Esperance we entered Cape Arid National Park and headed to the remote Israelite Bay, in eastern Western Australia for a few days of camping. Here, an old telegraph station and dwellings formed an important part of the cross country Intercolonial Telegraph Line. A prominent feature in the bay is the wooden jetty which was used in the ferrying of the wooden telegraph poles ashore. A Sea Eagle landed on the jetty late each afternoon so I lay in wait and grabbed a few shots. Black shouldered kites hunted for mice at dusk, with seagulls, sooty oyster catchers and cormorants keeping us entertained. Gestern konnte ich bei Traumwetter (nur überraschend frisch im Verhältnis zu Sydney) die Blue Mountains erkunden. Auf unsagbar vielen Stufen (ja, schon wieder) ging es von Aussichtspunkt zu Aussichtspunkt, Wasserfall zu Wasserfall und natürlich den Three Sisters. Superschön!!! Abends habe ich mich gut mit einem Franzosen in meiner Unterkunft unterhalten. Darüber dass er UNESCO-Weltkultur- und -naturerbestätten "sammelt" (die Blue Mountains zählen dazu), aber auch über Politik, unsere Reisen und anderes. Dann wurde es etwas unschön. Ein anderer Gast kam dazu, der überwiegend auf einen Rollstuhl angewiesen ist. Von mir wollte er, dass ich die Brille senke, um ihn und seine Behinderung wahrzunehmen und anzuerkennen. Jedes Mal, wenn er reinkam. Den Rest des Abends hat er rumgepoltert und uns in einem Ton rumkommandiert, bis wir gegangen sind. Schade!

I finally got the chance to stop at Carrington Falls a few days ago. The track to the lookouts starts from the picnic area and leads to 3 different lookouts and the top of the falls. ✨️ Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains 💙 ⛰️ Wentworth Falls, which is within the National, offers multiple lookouts and loop walks of various grades & length. Walking to the base of the Wentworth Falls was not for the faint-hearted, but in my opinion, it's the only way to really capture the true beauty of this waterfall. Walking to the base is a grade 4 (hard), 1.8km one way, 1-2hr one way hike. On this track, you will walk across the top of the falls on stepping stones before meeting the historic Grand Stairway built on the side of the cliff more than 100 years ago. With amazing coastline and views, creeks and waterfalls, sandstone rock ledges in a variety of colours and stunning beaches the Coast Track has so much to offer. The track is well marked and easy to follow with a lot of boardwalk sections. There are a lot of stairs up to clifftops and down to beaches so it can be strenuous, but it's not a difficult track. Gestern ging es von der Manly Wharf weiterhin auf dem Manly Scenic Walkway Richtung Innenstadt. Vorbei an vielen Stränden, Aussichtspunkten, Aboriginal Engravings, Forts und natürlich über unzählige Stufen bin ich bis zum nun durch Taylor Swift berühmten Zoo gekommen. Dort ging es fix auf die Fähre und weiter mit dem Wassertaxi zum Opera Harbour. Pünktlich 12 min vor Vorstellungsbeginn angekommen 😬 und eine großartige Vorstellung von West Side Story mit Blick auf das Opernhaus im Hintergrund gesehen. 😊
