This plant can be propagated from root cuttings, stem cutting or even leaves. The special property of these leaves is that when detached from the mother plant each leaf can give rise to small plant-lets. You can store fallen leaves on moist paper or on a bed of soil and Voila..more plants after few days. To get a good number, we have picked up nicely grown plats and planted them separately. In nurseries, these plant are sold from 30-100 rupees based on their size. They are maintained as ornamental plants and even flower with proper care. These are succulent and require low-maintenance or watering. #PollinatorWeek2022 :- Day 2 Have you noticed these tiny bees, much smaller than regular bees, buzzing and going around your flowers? These are stingless bees of the genus Tetragonula. Tetragonula is a genus of stingless bees from the Tribe Meliponini of the bee family Apidae. In 1961, the genus Tetragonula was proposed by Brazilian bee expert J.S. Moure to improve the classification system by dividing the large stingless bee genus Trigona into 9 smaller groups. These bees are found in Oceania, in countries such as Australia, Indonesia, New Guinea, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, and the Solomon Islands. About 30 stingless bee species formerly placed in the genus Trigona are now placed in the genus Tetragonula. The most recent tabulation of species listed 31 species. The Tetragonula bees have bodies that are black or dark brown, but they have dense white fur on the sides of their thorax and their faces. All the bees are black and about 3 to 4 mm long. However, a close look reveals slight differences in their hair patterns and colour markings. Stingless Bees pack pollen into round balls on their hind legs to carry it back to their nests. Tetragonula nests are very different from honey bees and are built from tree resins and wax they produce from their abdomens. They collect honey and pollen and store these in small pots.
