It’s The Contemporary Resort, Disney fans!!!✨ 🛏️Let’s start with the rooms- there was a recent refurb and people are very torn about the new look! I have to say after seeing them in person with all the fun new details (I mean, check out the closet) I’m a fan! The bathrooms have more storage and bigger sinks now, the extra couch and table are comfy & cute! It’s brighter than the old look & more fun, IMO! 🌭Good food coming your way: California Grill! Thats all I need to say, right? lol Great sushi, seafood & watch the fireworks from your table or out on their balcony! Chef Mickey’s is always fun with a good buffet & your favorite pals will be there! Go grab your Minnie Latte in the lobby - they also have some pastries. Steakhouse 71 is now on my list to return to! Our breakfast (see earlier post) was delicious! Can’t wait to try dinner next time! And Contempo Cafe always has great quick service meals , beverage stations & sweet treats!!! 🚝 Your main transportation to the parks here is the monorail! I LOVE that we just go downstairs and it’s literally IN the resort! It will get you to the Poly, GF, MK & Epcot. A bus will get you over to AK & HS! Disney date nights are the best date nights ❤️ On this night six years ago my husband and I had our favorite Disney date thus far at California Grill. California Grill sits at the top of the Contemporary Resort and has the best views of Magic Kingdom and the Seven Seas Lagoon. We timed our reservation perfectly and finished up our meal just in time to watch the fireworks from the balcony, but even if you dine earlier in the evening, you can bring your receipt to gain access to the viewing deck for the best seat in the house. We then took our firework game a step further by hopping on the monorail over to Epcot for that firework show and a few rides to finish the night! California Grill in the Contemporary Resort boasts some incredible views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and The Magic Kingdom Park. The restaurant offers a 3 course Menu where you pay one price per adult or child with extra fees for wine pairings and a Wagyu Strip Loin. Our picks from the first course were the Sonoma Goat Cheese Raviolo, the Sahaimi Nigiri Sampler and the California Stone Fruit Salad. The Raviolo and Sushi were delish but the salad was lacking in dressing and wasn’t a favorite. Entrées were the Oak-Fired Filet of Beef and the Pan-seared All Natural Chicken. The steak was tender but not as full of flavor as one would expect from. $ignature dining experience. And the chicken “was not Instagram worth.” The wines paired well, but our server was pretty much a pour and run guy rather than sharing the usual pairing descriptions. Desserts were not impressive. The Lemon Chiffon Cake and Peanut and Banana Torte were less than what we had hoped for. Overall vote from the table was the experience (including very close tables, no real view from our table and a lack-luster server) is not one we will repeat. ‘Twas sad. We had high hopes. Back in 2019, we had the Disney dining plan and it was a challenge to eat everything as the portions are big so on a few of the ones where we didn’t sit in a restaurant, we would share 3 meals between 4 of us as it was enough. We had to try the Grey Stuff at Beauty and the beast castle and it was delicious!! We’re not cupcake lovers with all the cream on top but the other puds were good!!! Main meals were very tasty too, but our favourite meal of all the vacation has to be the one we had on our wedding anniversary at the California Grill. What a treat! We all got seated in the higher fireworks seating area which was great but we did finish our meal before they started so we went to stand outside on the rooftop. That was a great view along with the music playing through speakers to the rooftop. Perfection! It’s the little details though that make such a difference. The Mickey head shape on a cappuccino, the presentation, it’s great. Our favourite drink has to be the frozen cappuccino, even the kids said this was their favourite too. Our second favourite place to eat was the ABC Commissary. The food was amazing and would happily eat there again. Date night at California Grill!❤️ This might be my favorite Disney tip! We love the food at California Grill, but a prix fixe menu is not for me. Honestly it’s just way too much food, and while it might be a good price for the amount of food you get, if you can’t eat that much food what’s the point? Plus, we aren’t exactly plan ahead people.🍽️ Tonight, we showed up at the Contemporary Resort with no reservation. We asked if there were stools available at the bar and there were! At the bar we were able to order from their “bar menu.” This includes some delicious sushi rolls and pizzas. 🍕 Tonight we ordered their “sashimi and nigiri sampler” and the “braised beef wontons.” When ordering our amazing bartender let us know that we could get some free bread service!👍 The bread came out first and let tell you, that olive oil spread with sun dried tomatoes was incredible! 🥖The sashimi and nigiri sampler may look simple, but those extremely high quality ingredients made this one delicious dish.🍣 Finally, the wontons were absolutely perfect.🥟 I was honestly blown away by the food. To drink we grabbed their “Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned”🥃 (and then we got a few more) At the end we still had a bit more room so we had their Chocolate Torte. I’m not usually a desert person but this one, wow! The coffee cream and nuts on the side really made this dish.🍰 By the end we were full and extremely pleased. The best part was that our bill was around $119. We had our fill of food and two drinks each. Compare that to the $89 each price tag for the prix fixe menu (not including drinks), it was a pretty good deal. The best part? That view! Dinner at California Grill on the 15th Floor of The Contemporary Resort! They currently serve a Prix Fixe Menu celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. We got to keep the menus as a souvenir. Bonus! We were able to watch the Disney Enchantment Fireworks from the Observation Deck!
