On our last trip to Disney World, we took some first timers with us. We only had time to visit EPCOT and Magic Kingdom with them, but it was very sweet on the last day to hear my sister-in-law tell me that she now 'gets it'. She gets why we do this. When it comes to good Mexican food at Disney World, Maya Grill at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort ranks at the top for us. 🌮 We both love the different variations of the quesadillas. They're easily made gluten free by swapping out flour tortillas for corn. ✅ Mix & match different fillings too. You can choose from chicken or steak on the menu, but the restaurant can also make the quesadillas with plant-based meat too. They also have dairy free cheese available if you ask! 💡 For vegetarians or vegans, the refried black beans served with the quesadillas do typically contain pork, so be sure to double-check when you're ordering. 🍅 The chips, salsa, and queso are all great starters too. The two salsas include a salsa roja and an avocado verde. ✅ For those who can have dairy, the queso is our favorite on Disney property. If you're dairy free, we recommend swapping out the queso for guacamole which is also delicious & naturally DF. 💡 The tortilla chips are made in a dedicated gluten free & allergy fryer. 💡 Although Maya Grill is not owned and operated by the Disney Company and is run by a 3rd party, they do a fantastic job at accommodating for special dietary needs. 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a literal buffet of gluten free & allergy-friendly options. 🎠 Here are some highlights from our recent breakfast at this newly reopened character dining location. ⭐️ For more info, check out our NEW vlog on our YouTube channel! 1️⃣ Double Chocolate Muffins...incredible flavors & we love that these are GF & Top 9 allergy-friendly! 2️⃣ Fresh Berries...perfect on the side or right on top of your allergy-friendly Mickey waffles. 3️⃣ Tofu Scramble with Vegetables...lots of bright and fresh flavors, and a little spicy too. This is a great GF, DF and vegan option. 4️⃣ Potato Barrels...whether you call them a tot or a barrel, they are delicious with any name. 💡 These are not marked GF on the restaurant's allergen guide. However, Chef Marq (who is also a fellow celiac) was able to make a safe version of us. Your mileage may vary on whether you can get tots or not when you go, but we always recommend speaking to a chef directly about options. 5️⃣ GF Modified Eggs Benedict...not typically available, but Chef Marq hooked us up with GF bread from Grand Floridian Cafe to make us this classic breakfast Eggs Benny. 💡 If you're dairy free, you'll want to skip this one. 6️⃣ Cheesy Potato Casserole and Beef Potato Hash...Chef Marq understood the assignment when it came to potatoes. They were served with 100% pure maple syrup. ✅ The allergy-friendly Mickey waffles are made upon request and are marked Gluten Free and safe for Egg, Fish/Shellfish, Milk, Peanut/Tree Nut, Sesame, and Soy Allergies on the restaurant's allergen guide. 💡 The restaurant is currently using the Carbon's Golden Malted GF pancake & waffle mix for these waffles. Even though the word malt is in the name of the company, the waffle mix itself is GF. 💡 If you're soy free, we would recommend checking with the restaurant about this mix, because the version listed on the company's website does state that it contains soy. ⭐️ Want a tasty GF topping hack for your Mickey waffles at this restaurant? Once upon a time, we had a fairy tale of a dinner at Story Book Dining at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort. 👑 Overall, we found this meal to be really good, and we loved the character interactions with the Evil Queen, Snow White, Dopey & Grumpy. This GF, dairy free, allergy-friendly & vegan dessert trio included: Fairy Tale Gooseberry Pie, "Rotted Apple" (aka plant-based brownie), and Chia Pudding with Pineapple. The Rotted Apple was by far Sarah's favorite of the three. 2️⃣ The appetizers were actually our favorite of the meal. This included: Hunters Meatball, Wild Mushroom Bisque, and Wicked Shrimp Cocktail. ⭐️ We told the chef that we loved the mushroom bisque so much that he brought us out two bonus cauldrons. So good! We recently checked it out & were pleasantly surprised by two new gluten free AND dairy free dishes. 1️⃣ Lemon Pepper Salmon...you'll truly be living with the land with this entree which features seasonal vegetables from the Land pavilion in Epcot. Sarah really enjoyed the salmon and salad but didn't love the quinoa and corn combo. The lemon sauce was very tasty! ✅ This dish was marked Gluten Free and safe for Egg, Milk, Peanut/Tree Nut, Sesame, Shellfish, and Soy Allergies on the restaurant's allergy-friendly menu. 2️⃣ Strawberry Shortcake...feel the springtime vibes with this new dessert. Today’s #WorldShowcaseWednesday post comes to you from the Japan Pavilion in Epcot and is also my Menu Feature of the day! On our most recent trip (without the kids) this past December, we were able to try Japan Pavilion’s newest restaurant Shiki-Sai for the first time! And it surely will not be the last! This restaurant had replaced “Tokyo Dining”, the old table service restaurant attached to Teppan Edo (the teppanyaki restaurant). Shiki-Sai is a great addition to the dining scene in this pavilion, which we adored already! From the quick service Katsura Grill, to the sushi and kakigori booths out front. Shiki-Sai proved to offer DELICIOUS food and stellar service. The appetizers were delicious, sushi was of high quality, fresh and flavorful, and the ambience was just beautiful! We were fortunate to be given a window seat, which really added to the environment. Sometimes an entree surprises you in a good way. ⭐️ The Plancha-seared Mahi Mahi and Shrimp entree from Three Bridges Bar & Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort totally exceeded expectations and then some. It was SO good! 🌶️ If you like Thai red curry, you will love this dish which came with Grilled Mahi Mahi, Shrimp, Basmati Rice, Bok Choy, Thai Red Coconut-Curry Sauce, and Mint. It wasn’t overly spicy but did have a pleasant bit of heat to it. ✅ This dish was marked Gluten Free and safe for Egg, Peanut, Sesame, and Soy Allergies. Shown in these photos are a few of the gluten free appetizer options at the restaurant. 1️⃣ House-made Guacamole with Tajin and Tortilla Chips made in a dedicated fryer. This is a nice gluten free AND dairy free option. ✅ This appetizer is marked Gluten Free and safe for Egg, Fish/Shellfish, Milk, Peanut/Tree Nut, Sesame, and Soy Allergies on the allergy-friendly menu. 2️⃣ White Queso Dip with Chorizo, Roasted Peppers, and Tortilla Chips made in a dedicated fryer. This appetizer was a bit of a miss for us. The original queso served at Three Bridges used to be made with Oaxaca and Manchego cheeses, which was so good.
