O resultado é um branco seco que reflete a mais pura expressão da fruta e terroir, sem ofuscar seu potencial mineral. Este 2019 está vibrante e complexo. Este Rosé de 2015 é, de fato, um testemunho eloquente do talento excepcional de Dominique Moreau. Produzido integralmente a partir de Pinot Noir, é cultivado em solos de Marga e Kimméridgien e manejado sob rigorosas práticas de viticultura biodinâmica em vinhas de 55 anos de idade. Com 12,95% de álcool, foi vinificado em 2015 e degolado em abril de 2021. 70% desengace, fermentação por 3 dias, seguido de pisa. Envelhecimento em tanques de aço esmaltado por 48 meses. É engarrafado sem filtragem nem colagem. Zero Dosage! Das Warten auf den Nikolaus wird heute Abend mit ein paar Bubbles versüßt. Es gibt Éloquence Millésime Extra Brut von Champagne Marie Courtin. Es handelt sich um einen reinen Blanc de Blancs aus 100% Chardonnay, gewachsen an der Côte des Bar auf Kalkstein, obwohl dort eigentlich eher der Pinot Noir zuhause ist. Ausgebaut zu 50% in Barrique-Fässern und 50% im Tank. Der Wein kommt in einem hellen, leicht goldenen Gelb ins Glas. In der Nase leicht hefig, etwas Nuss, dazu Apfel und florale Noten, im Hintergrund auch leicht rauchig. Am Gaumen eine lebendige Perlage, die zum frischen Charakter des Champagners passt. Dieser wird bestimmt durch die frische, kühle Säure, die den Wein durchzieht, dazu Zitrusnoten und eine feine Kräutrigkeit. Athanase Piollot fonda il domaine di famiglia nell’800. Il nipote Robert ne amplia la proprietà e impianta il Pinot Bianco, oltre ad avviare una selezione massale tutt’oggi perpetrata. Sarà però solo il figlio Roland, V generazione, nel 1986, ad avviare la produzione e commercializzazione di champagne. Roland eredita dal padre una forte attenzione alla natura che culmina nel 2009 alla conversione biologica certificata nel 2014 e dal 2020 anche biodinamica dell’intera proprietà (7.5ha). Nel 2005 la moglie Dominique Moreau decide di avviare il proprio progetto dedicato alla nonna, Marie Courtin, con 1ha lavorato in biodinamico (oggi 2.5ha in un’unica parcella) con l’idea di proporre vini di una sola annata, da una sola vigna e con una sola varietà. Il lavoro è strettamente condiviso sia in vigna che in cantina, anche se con percorsi differenti e che vedono Dominique molto più legata a concetti biodinamici e spirituali e a contenitori come l’anfora non utilizzati in Piollot. Per entrambi raccolta a maturazione, vinificazione parcellare con lieviti indigeni sia in acciaio che in legno, affinamento per 10 mesi prima del tiraggio, no filtrazioni, malolattica lasciata in vigna, SO2 solo in pressa e affinamenti di minimo 24 mesi sui lieviti. Vini accomunati da grande espressività data da un frutto ben delineato e acidità che ne sostengono la materia avvolgente. Precisi e puliti in un sorso che gioca bene tra complessità e facilità di beva che richiama il calice. La diversità si sente nei due domaine caratterizzati dalla stessa matrice ma che si fa più delicata e composta in Piollot, più tagliente e netta in Marie Courtin. Molto bene! . . Champagne Marie-Courtin, Présence, 2016: 8+ - first a question: does "*D0322*" in the laser etching of the bottle mean that it has been disgorged March 2022? Why "8+"? Well, to begin with, it's a bloody great champagne. Rather reductive in the nose with flinty, struck-match stuff going on. Sometimes there's this additional whiff that taints it a bit and that's why not the 8.5. At first I thought of VSA, but I think it's a reductive sulfuric thing that sometimes pushes through too much. Incredibly fresh and zingy for a 2016. The nose is static and demands attention, then the wine just races across the tongue to become static again with a long seaside finish. Dominique Moreau at Champagne Marie Courtin makes biodynamic wines from a single lieu-dit Tremble in Polisot, Côte des Bar. Their apparent consistency, mainly all Pinot Noir and with arresting elegance, with a texture suggesting being dabbed with silk, is maybe not such a shock. The same winemaker and the same place. But each is complex in different ways. Which suggests her selection of different plots and different handling for each wine pays off. Her project with each cuvée is very precise but her intuition has a haunting presence you feel when talking with her and drinking the wines. . . Champagne Marie Courtin, Blanc de Blancs, "2018": 8.5 - that was quite a start into the line-up yesterday. What an absolutely fabulous champagne. It was all there: typical Chardonnay nose, pressure, linearity, drive, freshness, complex palate. Fantastic. Some say that amphorae can mute the acidity too much, but this is just perfectly balanced. Thanks to @tzvetanmihaylov for this superb bottle! What a gift. . Kompassus, Espumante, Grande Reserva, 2014: 7 - a very convincing pirate. First time. A bit more acidic structure and tension could help. Totally enjoyable, but it could get a bit boring with time. Definitely worth every penny and a serious alternative to champagne if one's got something sparkly in mind. . Champagne Gaspard Brochet, Assemblage PN+CH "L'Âne", "2018" (Deg 2020-11-26, 608bt): 8 - this evolved beautifully. The Chardonnay is clearly dominant at the moment. It feels like there's still a lot of potential hidden in this wine and that it could go much further with some more time. Sadly, this was my last bottle of this release, I think. . Champagne Louis Roederer, Brut Premier: 4 - I'm guessing on a bottle from the early 80s. Only acidity and sweetness with nothing in between. The fruit is gone, the wine is gone. Drinkable but no fun. I was really hoping for a positive surprise as the bottle was in superb condition with perfect fill level and even a pop upon opening. . Champagne Bollinger, Spécial Cuvée: 1 - a bottle from the 50s maybe? Here I never had any hope as there was already about a deciliter missing in the bottle. There was no chance of it being something. . Champagne Vouette & Sorbée, Blanc d'Argile (Deg 2019-09-27, B2016): 7.5 - guessed correctly on a 2016 as for me it is one of the "weakest" releases of this superb cuvée. This is even a joy at subpar performance though. The complexity is there, but the 2016s are always missing a bit of that pressure from fruit and acidity that make the other releases so great. . Champagne Pierre Paillard, Les Terres Roses (Deg 2019-06, B2016): 7 - very nice easy-drinking bottle that was spot-on to wrap things up. In 2001 Dominique Moreau rented her first vineyard in Cotes de Bar. It was 1 hectare only, but today there are 2,5 hectares. In 2005 she founded Domaine Marie Courtin, name a winery after her grandmother. Pinot Noir is prevail. Dominique during all the time is working with model “single vineyard + single grape variety + single vintage”. Also since 2007 the winery is participated with association of producers by Nicoly Jolie — “Renaissance des Appellations”. Marie Courtin produces about 15 000 bottles per a year. It was like some acidity here (sometimes), some fruit there and bubbles. Without character, which is very much unlike what the champagnes from this grower usually are! Could not spot a fault. ???? Amber coloring and some tertiary aromas belie its age, while the palate defies it. The nose shows sweet balsamic, leather, moist earth, tar, but the palate introduces dense fresh but smoky sour cherry fruit. Long and balanced, a beautiful forty year old Nebbiolo that paired perfectly with the pasta and meat sauce. 2000 Ployez-Jacquemart Liesse d’Harbonville Brut. A beautiful bottle, defying its age other than a scant, subtle nuttiness. Great earthy complexity on nose and palate, with toasty apple and other white orchard fruit; energetic. My first d’Harbonville; I’ll look for more. 2015 Marie Courtin Indulgence Rosé Extra Brut Stunning crimson color immediately seizes your attention. Cranberries, strawberries and pomegranate flavors and aromas present a mirage of sweetness in this dry, savory wine. We all loved it. 2013 Vilmart Ratafia de Champagne. Finally, a dessert wine Marybeth likes! Less sweet and certainly less viscous than most fortified wines, this was dominated by delicious almond and toasted coconut notes, plus ginger and pomelo. . . Lunch with co-workers. Champagne Marie-Courtin, Indulgence (Deg 2021-08, 2018): 8 - I'm going to do a test once and serve this to blindfolded guests. What will they tell, what it smells like? It's just impossible not to be influenced by the colour there. I guess that blind one would expect a lovely, elegant Pinot Noir. What a great fight between tannins and acidity on the palate, which definitely separates it from a still wine. Must buy more of those. . Champagne Robert Moncuit, Réserve Perpétuelle (Deg 2021-07): 6.5 - very good champagne, but it often feels a bit shaky. It gets lost somewhere between focus and perpétuelle broadness. The others liked it very much, but it was not the best bottle. Moncuit seems to profit hugely from a few years post disgorgement so this was probably bad timing. Another cuvée that may need to grow up a bit and in 5-10 years it will be just as great as all the others from Moncuit. . Corfiero, Podere Forte, 2018: 6 - good, solid wine. It has a bit of an unfocused tutti frutti feel to it.
