🇦🇹/🇭🇺 Franz Weninger 'Ponzichter' 2021 Franz Weninger is een van de top-wijnboeren op het gebied van rode wijn in Oostenrijk. Hij komt uit Horitschon in het gebied Mittelburgenland, grenzend aan Hongarije, en produceert hier met name rode wijnen. In 2011 nam hij uiteindelijk samen met zijn vrouw Petra de leiding over het landgoed over en leidt nu de Hongaarse en Oostenrijkse wijngaarden van de familie Weninger. De wijngaarden zijn 25 hectare groot en beplant met blaufränkisch, merlot, zweigelt, cabernet sauvignon, st. laurent en blauer burgunder. Veel wijngaarden zijn al zeer oud met stokken tot een leeftijd van ongeveer 80 jaar. Het is een bijzondere wijn. Niet alleen omdat het biologische-dynamisch gemaakt is, maar ook omdat de druiven voor deze wijn uit zowel Oostenrijk als Hongarije komen. Het is een blend van Zweigelt, Cabernet Franc en Pinot Noir. Het levert een lichte wijn op met veel rood fruit. Het heeft wat aards, zure kersjes en zachte afdronk. Heerlijk zomerwijntje! Domaine Jérôme Galeyrand - Champs de Vosger 2021 Fixin Village Rouge 2021 Appellation Fixin, à bien prononcer "Fissin" si ne voulez pas que les Bourguignons vous tombent dessus. Petit infanticide, mais ayant beaucoup entendu parlé de ce vignerons récemment (dont la cuvée "Les Retraits" @alexver_tasting 😉), envie de me faire mon idée. Et j'essaie de combler mes lacunes en Bourgogne rouge ! Carafé 2h avant le service. Le nez est très ouvert, généreux, sur les fruits rouges comme la mûre et les pétales de roses. En bouche, le vin est très avenant, élégant, d'une grande finesse, les tanins déjà assez souples. Très bon feeling sur cette cuvée, surpris de trouver un vin aussi facilement buvable, le millésime n'y est pas pour rien. I de kommende solrige og varme måneder foretrækker jeg oftest de lidt mere lette og friske vine som virkeligt fremstår flot når de bliver let afkølet. I dag blev det en Le Paradou, som kommer fra vinhuset Chateau Pesquie i Languedoc, Frankrig 🇫🇷 Vinen er på ren Granache, som etiketten afslører. I glasset er vinen flot rubinrød. Duften har tydelige noter af modne mørke bær, lidt kirsebær og en smule vanilje til sidst. I munden får man straks nogle rigtigt flotte tanniner og en god tørhed, uden det bliver voldsomt. Syren sætter godt gang i mundvandet og hele vinen rundes af med lidt frugtsødme og en smule peber. Un Riesling “tremendamente” territoriale. Lo abbiamo abbinato, un po’ rischiando forse, ad un’orata semplice, cotta al forno con qualche erba aromatica e un filo d’olio EVO, e punte d’asparagi. La natura eterea del Riesling, con evidenti note di idrocarburi, è emersa dopo pochi minuti. Aiutati un po’ dall’annata (2019) e un po’ dalla mineralità assieme al finale persistente, la combinazione è risultata piacevole. Ma quanto è bello il mondo del vino? ! :: A “tremendously” territorial Riesling. We paired it, with a bit of risk, with oven cooked sea bream and asparagus tips. The ethereal profile of Riesling, with evident notes of hydrocarbons, emerged after a few minutes in the glass. The 2019 vintage helped such as the minerality and persistent finish, and the wine & food combination was unexpected pleasant. A truly majestic bottle that we were able to share with @guillaumebalma and @theswissgourmet on our way to Grindelwald. I’m usually not a big fan of very pricy and rare têtes de cuvées from top houses, as you can enjoy several great bottles for the same price, but the offer here was very tempting. So we decided to go for it, and this was a smart choice. I always keep Bollinger close to my heart. Reliable house with excellent wine makers. Beautiful intense yellow, almost gold color. The first nose is just wonderful. Already so open and ready to give! Glorious expression of Pinot Noir. Bruised apples golden fruits, almost slightly candied, with some fresh nuts. Slight oxidative character. Just beautiful of purity and definition. Nice complement of brioche and honey. There is still some freshness and vivacity, which we can also find on the palate. Beautiful mousse, the wine is dense and thick. Creamy with the patina of age. Good bitters. The palate has so much depth, the wine is layered and impressive. Crazy length as well, it stays on the tongue forever. Some more quince pie on the finish. Absolutely brilliant, certainly the most memorable wine in Champagne I’ve had from the 1999 vintage. Krug Grande Cuvée is born from the dream of one man, Joseph Krug, to craft the very best Champagne he could offer, every single year, regardless of annual variations in climate. Each year, the House of Krug honours this dream with a new Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the most generous expression of Champagne. The 168ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée was composed around the harvest of 2012, a beautiful year with a low yield due to the panoply of meteorological events the region endured. Frost, rain, storms and hale all hit the vineyards of Champagne in winter and spring 2012, followed by the driest ripening season since 1974, resulting in 20% fewer grapes. To realise the final creation, wines of the year from meticulously selected plots were blended with reserve wines from 10 other years. The careful attention given to the vines and Krug’s unique respect for the individual character of each plot enabled the breadth of expression of this Édition. A delicious and not over priced bottle of lusciously fruit filled Fixin which accompanied the duck breasts cooked on the open fire. What a pairing! . "The nose is flowery, fresh, well-built, racy and offers a small crunchiness. It reveals notes of fresh/fleshy cherry, crushed raspberry and small notes of violet associated with touches of quetsche plum as well as slight hints of rose, lily and star anise. . South Coast Winery Wild Horse Peak Mountain Vineyards Thunder Bolt Block Sangiovese 2016 rasmuswine 91/100 100% Sangiovese Buongiorno! Happy Sunday! 😊🍷 Finally we are enjoying the Sangiovese from South Coast Winery, paired with a deliciously tender pork dish. What a treat! They source a number of high quality red wine grape varieties from their Wild Horse Peak Mountain Vineyards - approx 500 m.a.s.l. The yields on the vineyards on Wild Horse Peak are historically lower than on the valley floor. The colour and the tannin development in the fruit are therefore higher and the wines are more concentrated and intense. Again we are impressed. The quality of this 2016 Sangiovese is high. You would definitely think you were in Tuscany - possibly in the Chianti Classico area. The colour is clear ruby red. Pronounced aromas of cherries and bluberries. On the palate - fruity, rather complex with notes of ripe berries and spices. Medium body. Pleasant acidity and a long finish. If you are in the LA area, we would definitely recommend a visit further south to South Coast Winery in Temecula. Such an exciting range of quality reds!
