Thank you to the Trek Boulder crew for setting me up with a @trekbikes Checkpoint SL 6 AXS for my adventure day in Boulder! And thanks to my local @trekrideclubraleigh for making the connection for me! 🫶 Our last day in Colorado was spent exploring the gravel biking scene. I chose a route (Boulder Roubaix) from the local Trek Ride Club Boulder knowing that the Trek Great Rides program shares trusted routes for their local community and it did not disappoint!! 💯 the city is incredibly bike friendly with all kinds of bike traffic signage and all the paved roads we road had bike lanes or dedicated paths. 🙌 the mountain plains are beautifully scenic and I saw wild prairie dogs for the first time!! Trails Open Mid Spring! Penitente Canyon Trail System (24 Trails) - Spotlight! Sidewinder Trail Easy to Intermediate Difficulty 2.4 Miles - Sidewinder Road goes west out of the parking lot. You'll gradually climb for the first 1.35 miles. At this point, you'll encounter a short steep downhill. Bear left at the bottom and you'll continue to climb again for another 1/2 mile. After another short downhill, the road will flatten out. In general, Sidewinder road is used as a warm-up, beginner ride, or access route for the southern singletrack segments at Penitente Canyon. Great singletrack segments take off from the Sidewinder Road. The Pinon, Dollhand Ravine, and Ute Loop trails are all very moderate open desert sections which start and end on Sidewnder Road. Wild Horse offers a great semi-technical loop when ridden clockwise. At 2.4 miles from the parking area at CR38A, you'll come to a Y. After this point, the road continues onto private land. It is not recommended to continue west past this point. Pics from this last week and my first solo ride today. From 7 years old to college biking was my main mode of transport to school/work/friends at my Moms in Florida to summer theatre camp in Phildelphia at my Dads. Then to my freshmman/Sophmore year of college I had no car. I stayed fit with it without trying much. My brother had recent awesome success with biking and getting healthier that was inspiring and gave me a wild hair. So Randy and I bought used bikes and now are taking advantage of the amazing Colorado trails around us. Of COURSE it was cold and rainy today for my first solo ride, but I said “F*** it” and did my 5 mile baby ride 😬I am not going to declare big lofty goals because I inevitably set my self up for failure. As an admitted perfectionist the 1st time I fail is excuse for it to all go out the window, so with help from my therapist and a nutritionist I have a different view now of “goals”. SO I have been 1. Eating healthy breakfast 2. Adding salad to my lunch 3. 30min of movement a day. Some days don’t happen some I do waaaay more (work days). I am ready to feel healthier inside in out. No numbered weight loss goals just what I have listed above for right now. I am practicing SELF-COMPASSION more and more when I do falter. Instead of beating myself up I say “I will try again tomorrow” or “You are a busy working Mom of two small kids, you are allowed to be tired and not be at 100% everyday”. #thisis41 #colorado #goals #healthierat40 #coloradobiking #ERnurse #RN #workingmomlife

Fort Collins is a great place for biking🚴🏻♀️⠀ Моё самое велосипедное лето. Наверное за это лето я накатала столько, сколько за всю предыдущую жизнь. А спонсор этого - отсутствие развитой сети общественного транспорта в городе и наличие офигительной сети велосипедных трейлов. ⠀ Кстати, я раньше думала, что такие велосипедные трейлы - обычная штука для американских городов. Но уже несколько американцев, которые жили в разных городах, сказали, что это особенность именно Форт-Коллинса. Очень велосипедный город.
Schoolyard Cross at the Dawson School in Lafayette Colorado. First ride with my new @keepcxfunky kit and managed to podium taking second in the Cat 4/5 #singlespeed category. Never got on the podium in a CX race before so I was thrilled. Well actually Dr Wade and I won the tandem frozen turkey race many years back but that was a different type of event all together. But I digress… Solid showing by the team with racers in most every event.
