昨日は映画CATS日本語吹き替え版のジャパンプレミアでした。 上映が終わって帰ろうとしたとき、控えのホテルで偶然トムフーパー監督と遭遇し、日本語吹き替え版の感想を伝えてくれました。 「細かいディテールを忠実に再現してリップシンクも完璧で、何を伝えたいかを理解してくれて感謝している。繊細な仕事をしてくれてありがとう。」 「とくにマキャビティ（山寺宏一さん）のterrible voiceはアメイジングだし、ガス（宝田明さん）の演技と歌唱は驚きだった。どのキャストも素晴らしく、新鮮な気持ちで見れた」 偉大な監督であり芸術家なので、原作への愛や映画化することへの情熱、作品に込めていることを日本語でも忠実に再現したかったし、そういう思いでスタッフは尽力していたのでとても嬉しかったです。 母親が来てまして、監督に紹介したところ監督がリップサービスで、 「Your son is talented」 と言ってくれたんですが、母親が 「I think so too」 と言い返しまして、おいおいそれまでおれ謙虚にやってんだからやめてくれたまえって思いましたが、監督は大きく頷いていたので、あ、こういうもんなのかと飲み込むことにしました。 #映画キャッツ #映画CATS #TomHooper #FrancescaHeyward #DebraHayward #大竹しのぶ #葵わかな #山崎育三郎 #秋山竜次 #大貫勇輔 #高橋あず美

Cats Jellicle cats contend for a chance at ascending to the Heaviside layer. Visually and audibly unsettling, Cats is a nightmarish fever dream of endless bad decisions. It barely has any plot to speak of, isn’t particularly well acted and is just so painful to look at. I honestly don’t think I can articulate just how horrifying this film is, regardless of somehow still being deemed appropriate to release on a universal age rating. The way the performers have been presented in their “cat" forms is an absolute misfire. The actors simply performed their roles and had feline features edited on top and it has been so badly composited that they spend most of the time looking like poorly rendered video game characters from two decades ago. As an adaptation of such an iconic theatre production I was at least expecting some catchy musical numbers and impressive dance choreography. Unfortunately both of these elements were weak too, the music was lifeless and awkward, and the camera work was so sporadic that it missed most of what may well have actually been some excellent physical performances. Cats is a dismal stain on the careers of all involved and I am dumbfounded that it ever managed to be released in the first place. Variety is reporting that Universal Pictures is in the works on a film adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ upcoming novel “The Giver of Stars.” Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Deadline is reporting that Idris Elba is in final talks to star in Universal Pictures’ feature adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Cats.” The film, which will also star Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Ian McKellen, Laurie Davidson and Mette Towley, will be directed by Tom Hooper (Les Misérables, The King's Speech) from a script by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, Victoria & Abdul). Based on T.S. Eliot's poetry collection “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats,” the musical tells “the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles who must decide which one of them will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.” It’s being said that Elba will play “famed feline Macavity.” Hooper and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, as well as Debra Hayward will produce. Monumental Pictures and The Really Useful Group will also produce, while Steven Spielberg, Lloyd Webber and Angela Morrison will executive produce.
