A lot of work for Dan Levy in this one, taking on triple duties. Perhaps it's not as strenuous for a minor melodrama, with Good Grief hitting familiar notes with good pitch. Where the movie struggles is in defining its characters as likable, because rather than a story about grief, this is first of all a story about friendship - three friends that are not that easy to side with. Yesterday {2019} ………………………………………………………………………………… After an accident, a struggling musician realizes The Beatles have never existed. Watching this movie was a big mistake! Lily James is the one and only reason why I chose to watch this. The things I watch for this woman…istg. I can’t help it, she’s one of my favorite actresses! The cinematography was not impressive, it was just one big let down. Whatever happened to properly introducing characters? I had no idea that Lily James’ character was named Ellie for the longest time. Why was she wearing rain boots to a summer music festival? The awkward manager/musician interactions between Jack and Ellie gave me so much second hand embarrassment! Perhaps it is Himesh Patel’s acting style or the role itself, but his awkwardness reminded me of Michael Cera. Jack is well aware that he is guilty of plagiarism but loves the praise. How is The Late Late Show with James Corden supposed to be the ticket to success? The Twilight Zone potential was strong but they unfortunately missed that opportunity. If The Beatles never existed, what happened to Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, who are still alive? Did Thanos snap and turn them into dust? I find it funny how they never explained the blackout. Christopher Nolan serves as director, writer and co-producer with his creative partner and wife Emma Thomas whom have collaborated on ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’, ‘Inception’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘The Prestige’ and ‘Dunkirk.’ Conceiving the ideas for Tenet over the course of twenty years. Christopher Nolan has molded one of the most unique films I have ever seen about a secret agent, The Protagonist (John David Washington) who is assigned to prevent a third world war. Talent flows in the family with the son of two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington, delivering a satisfactory portrayal of a man who is determined to accomplish his objective by any means necessary. Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki are amongst the supporting cast members. Delivering charismatic performances as Neil and Katherine who assist our titular character on his mission towards preventing a global threat. Ludwig Göransson provides a masterful score that is a symphony for the ears and the stunt co-ordination by Jackson Spidell is mind-blowing as we witness out-of-this-world backward and forward action sequences. Despite the amount of praise I’ve given this release, the undermining flaws lie within the choppy sound mixing. The over-powering soundtrack muddles the dialogue in various scenes. This can cause a disconnect with the audience since Tenet is already complex and convoluted in the narrative’s concepts of backwards moving entropy, non-linear thinking and temporal paradoxes that it would require multiple viewings with close captioning to completely comprehend what is occurring onscreen. Black Mirror (2011-2023) [Season 6] An anthological series of stand-alone dramas that explore techno-paranoia and a contemporary modern reworking of "The Twilight Zone." Joan is Awful - An average woman discovers that her life is the basis of a tv show drama that everyone is watching. The best episode of the season. This really hit all the right notes of what I want out of a Black Mirror episode and it's a little sad that the first episode was the highest point of the season. Loch Henry - A young couple travel to a Scottish town to film a documentary on the town's local murder mystery and the shocking events that follow. This one was an ok episode. When I was trying to recall all the episodes, this is the one I forgot about and this one while dark and mysterious doesn't really feel black mirror-ey enough. Beyond the Sea - In an alternate 1969, two astronauts on a perilous duo-mission must deal with the consequences of a severe tragedy that occurred on Earth below. This episode has good star power backing it up with Josh Hartnett, Adam Paul, and Kate Mara, but this episode is 1 hr. 30 min long and it really does overstay its welcome, especially with how predictable it eventually becomes. First half was good, but I really wish that they did something interesting with the last half. Mazey Day - A paparazzi takes a high paying job in tracking down a troubled Hollywood starlet whose gone into hiding after a hit and run accident. I made the comment that this would make for a really fun Call of Cthulhu campaign. Atmospherically, this episode was a fun ride, but it takes a serious misstep in its ending. This ended up not really feeling like a Black Mirror episode at all. Demon 79 - In Northern England 1979, a meek shoe sales associate is approached by a high demon and is told that she must commit three murders in order to prevent a world-wide disaster. Another fun episode, but also really fails at feeling like a Black Mirror episode. I do wish that the grindhouse effect stuck around for all of Nida's murders and not just her daydreams.

Good grief Started watching this after seeing Dan. It’s a take on grief and how people deal with it. It’s a breezy take for sure, but I felt that something was missing from this movie. All the actors did a very good job especially the leading trio. Relationships are complicated at the best of times. Understanding the dynamics of someone’s personality, their wants and desires, how that changes with life circumstances, the natural evolution of someone’s identity. If you’re in a gay relationship, you’re multiply that by a factor of 10. There are so many unspoken societal rules and expectations, implicit and explicit, about how you should behave and what the structure of your partnership should be that it is exhausting to try and navigate it; add on top of that, there’s probably a reasonable percentage of people who are just disgusted by your existence regardless of what you do. “Good Grief” (2023), the first feature length production by @instadanjlevy tackles so many of these issues. Following his relationship as the lead character with @thereallukeevans he’s faced not only with his sadness over the loss of his husband, but a reevaluation of the entire relationship. Anyone who has processed the end of a partnership can relate to some part of the story. Strong supporting performances by @negga.ruth @himeshjpatel @arnaudvalois a surprise cameo by @emmalouisecorrin as well as the wonderful @celia.imrie all add colour and depth to the film. People are complicated, and it’s a good chance they’ll never react exactly how you want them to. Great use of the London and Paris locations with a subtle score by @rob_simonsen all add colour. Grief is one of the most complicated emotions and everyone processes it differently.
