As a fan of the Sonic universe in general since I was a kid, I was pleasantly surprised to see how the Sonic movies turned out. They thankfully didn’t make the human characters too overly annoying and kept much of the focus on the series main characters. That is, until this show from @paramountplus . It started off promising. But then lost itself. Knuckles is basically a side character on his own show. In fact there are episodes where he’s basically absent for the most part and the focus is on his man baby sidekick who grew to be grating over time. The pacing of the humor was nonexistent as the whole show was hokey dumb joke after dumb joke with a focus on the human character and his family. Not only that but the main villain in the trailer was hardly in the show! In fact he just turned up for an under 5 minute final battle with not much backstory!! You can’t make this stuff up. @idriselba was the highlight of this show as a stoic Knuckles but the fact that he was wasted as a side character on his own show is blasphemous. It was also great to hear @mrchristopherlloyd as another side character, but was also hardly in the show. I honestly don’t know the point of this show. Where the movies established their characters, setting and lore with good pacing, this did little to nothing to expand on that. For a 6 episode miniseries, I expected a lot more from this show, and unfortunately what we got was a character who I didn’t care about trying to train to win a bowling tournament with Knuckles largely absent for much of it. What I can say is that if you want actually good Knuckles stories, read his 90s comics from Archie. Have you watched this show? Knuckles (Miniseries) (2024) (Paramount+ - 4K UHD) (First Time Watch) "Knuckles the Echidna teaches deputy Wade Whipple the techniques of the Echidna warrior." A minor step up from the decent enough Sonic films. Nothing major, but a very breezy and easy watch of six thirty minute episodes (No reason this couldn't have been a 100 minute film). Big Dris is still great fun in the title role and has solid chemistry with Adam Pally. The humour is hit-and-miss with some very cringe stuff, but there's some decent gags and lines here and there with some solid guest stars, but there's a bigger dose of heart than I expected that worked well. Watchable fun, nothing more, nothing less. Some bangers on the soundtrack too. Para no hacerlo complicado, la serie es ágil y divertida, se esmeraron en mantener una buena calidad de CGI en los personajes y en las acción, pese a ser una producción para TV, eso es destacable. La historia se parte en dos, sin ningún lío, por un lado esta el equidna rojo que tiene problemas para adaptarse a la tierra y para encontrar un motivo luego de que su misión de proteger la esmeralda finalizó, así que repasamos su origen en su camino para encontrarse, y por otro lado está Wade, el asistente de alguacil, con pinta de perdedor, que también tiene que descubrir su fuerza interior y luchar contra eventos de su niñez que lo dejaron marcado. Con más acción que drama vemos este camino de los dos amigos y sus lucha contra sus "enemigos". Es lo que es, te pasas un buen rato, sin guiones rebuscados. Part of me is still surprised how damn good the Sonic movies have been recently and the franchise within a franchise they’re building up. So I should definitely count my blessings that 𝐊𝐧𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐬, the short series about the echidna who does not know da wae yet, does the BARE MINIMUM to carry that momentum until the end of the year. It’s cute fluff but it doesn’t last for long. I can say production design is used both sparingly and accordingly once again without overstaying their welcome but in comparison to the previous Sonic movies, the backdrop for this adventure isn’t as exciting; the flatness of the surrounding environment is apparent and worldbuilding doesn’t feel all expanded or branched out compared to the last time we’ve seen these characters. Camerawork here is pretty basic outside of a couple of specific sequences but it’s still shot relatively well with competent editing to boot; only a few separate sequences I can name where the cinematography sparkles a bit. The action sequences start off fine enough for a TV-PG mini series but remain uninspired and the cacophony of CGI that bleeds out from the first episode onward matches that of the movies. Now if only they pulled a Detective Pikachu and opted for exaggerated lighting to better mesh with that heightened sense of reality because we don’t get a whole lot of that. Its foray of protagonists can be pretty zany at times but there’s an obvious Robotnik-shaped hole in the villain department that Rory McCann, Kid Cudi and Ellie Taylor can’t hope to follow; the ramble comedy on both sides though doesn’t make the dialogue all that gripping. You know exactly what you’re getting with a set-up that begins and ends with buddy cop shenanigans and they harbor mixed results every time depending on the what and how these types of events play out. “Knuckles” harbors no illusions as to what it’s trying to do but the way it goes about achieving those feats are somehow even more surface-level than the movies despite very few brief glimpses of intrigue that make the ride more passable. My thought about this film, it has depicted the roles of Nemo from the previous film and takes a replace of Dory as protagonist. Dory has a symptom that makes her forget things to an extreme extent, so the highlight of the film is how she deals with society through this character with a developmental disorder. Contrary to her intentions, there are times when she has difficulty understanding other people’s feelings and is not good at reading the mood, but she’s still very aware of herself and is trying to overcome this. C’est une source d’inspiration pour cinéphile, rappeur, chaque personnages est légendaire. Que ce soit Omar, Stringer Bell, McNulty et l’emblématique Avon Barksdale. Filmé sous forme de Docu-Fiction, jamais la réalité et la misère n’a été aussi frappante, comme une déclaration, faire prendre conscience au haute sphère de la société, un message poignant « Regardez ce qu’il se passe »! Un fait réel, que tout le monde est impacté, les politiciens, les écoliers, que beaucoup sont corrompus, que dans ce monde personne ne sort intact et sans séquelles. The Wire est d’une réalité incroyable qui est dur mais importante a voir. Oui elle fait parti des meilleurs séries de tout les temps et c’est peut être même la meilleure. Depois tem uma outra ótima sequência, que se passa dentro e nas imediações de um hotel. A história até tenta em alguns momentos criar uma dramaticidade para dar conteúdo aos personagens, mas temos aqui o puro suco da adrenalina cinematográfica. Knuckles (2024) 6/10 or 3/5 Review Below This show should have not been called Knuckles. I'm pretty sure Wade has more screentime. They should've just made a Wade spinoff I would've been happy. But don't have the audacity to call it knuckles. This show was an absolute disappointment of a show. I wanted knuckles fighting bad guys. Not a stupid bowling tournament. The human characters I do not care for im here for the actual good characters. I hate when studios try to force the supposed dumb but funny side character it never works. Despite all of the disappointment there is some slight enjoyment out of this. But I would say only somewhat of the first and last episode. The beginning with tails and sonic and the villian at the end. Some parts with the family are ok but I can only stand the mom character. The 2 agents were stupid but kid Cudi was enjoyable. The rest of this was a waste of time. It most likely doesn't affect sonic 3 either. This felt like a low budget 6 episode show just to make money instead of making good content. An absolute waste of a series. No spoilers but one of these episodes has like a 20 minute scene that is so dumb and doesn't effect anything.
