Next up in Film Club this week is Moulin Rouge! This is another film that I haven't seen in over 20 years. Baz Luhrmann is a filmmaker who is frustratingly amazing. He can make a film that looks absolutely gorgeous, even if the story is clunky and some performances are a little lacking. I would rank this on the higher end of his filmography. Here, you have a killer cast. McGregor and Kidman are pretty good in the leads, not to mention you have Jim freakin' Broadbent and John Leguizamo in the supporting cast. I know some musical fans consider jukebox musicals cheating, but as long as the covers are decent, I don't mind. Strictly Ballroom the Musical. Love is in the air. 🕺💃 Baz Luhrmann's beloved film was turned into a musical with additional musical numbers added by a range of songwriters. I must admit most of the new songs didn't stand out for me, but that didn't mean this wasn't a fun musical. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, with Set and Costume Designer by Catherine Martin, this was a colourful musical with the underlying message about going after your dreams. Cast included Thomas Lacey as Scott Hastings, Phoebe Panaretos as Fran, Bob Baines as Les Kendall, Drew Forsythe as Doug Hastings, Natalie Gamsu as Abuela, Robert Grubb as Barry Fife, Fernando Mira as Rico, Heather Mitchell as Shirley Hastings and Mark Owen-Taylor as JJ Silver's. Other recognisable names included Rohan Browne as Ken Railings, Jarryd Byrne as Nathan Starkey, Andrew Cook as Wayne Burns, and Nadia Coote as Tina Sparkle. The last number was 'Love is in the Air', and cast members brought up audience members up on stage to dance along with them. Because I was dancing in my seat, I got chosen to come up on stage. É um filme que conta de uma forma interessante e um pouco diferente (de um outro ponto de vista, e não do protagonista) uma história rica e que escolhe momentos certos e com as músicas certas para a narrativa Recomendo a experiência, UMA GRANDE EXPERIÊNCIA por sinal, deu a cara do Elvis pro filme, o filme é vida, é amor, é tudo de bom 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶 5 doguinhos pro E. Today i’m going to post an appreciation post for the wonderful Craig Pearce. This beautiful soul has accomplished so much in his life, that i’m forever proud of him for all he’s done, I’m beyond lucky to know him, and to even exist in the same timeline as him. He’s saved my life more than anyone will know, I’ve been infatuated with his work for the past 7 years, and i gotta say, he’s helped create some of my favorite comfort movies. I love him more than words will ever explain, Nobody ever fully understands how much this man means to me. I swear i will be absolutely lost and heartbroken when this lovely man passes away. He’s too great of a person to just disappear.. Craig deserves so much more recognition and love, He’s beyond talented! Like i said, i’m always effortlessly proud of him, he’s definitely one of my biggest inspirations in life and he gives great advice. I swear there needs to be more men like him in this world, to me he’s the real life Gatsby. I will forever support and defend him no matter what. He deserves the most happiness this world has to offer, and he should know how truly talented he is.
