☆ N E W S K I L L S ☆ I've just upgraded my skills to include 'cutting the grass'. I think my daughter was about 4 when she first had a go with a lawn mower so shame on me. Having never used a lawn mower in my life (and my Dad informing that lawn mowers are not the same as Flymos- who knew?I thought it was just the brand!) , going out in public doing it for the first time gave me a little stage fright. I had no idea how to turn it on. Then, I had no idea how to empty it. Then it blew all down the road. Then I couldn't get the box (grass catching container?) back on. I could imagine some Sunday neighbourhood watch curtain twitcher saying " what's the bloody woman doing? Hasn't she cut grass before?" No, no.9, I have not. This was a moment of realisation that as a single- parent with no family on the doorstep or down the road...I have to do EVERYTHING in and around our home. EVERYTHING. EVERY.SINGLE.THING. I think the next thing on my new skills list will be to put a washing line up, thankfully in the back garden. My last post had me feeling a lot of emotions and I needed time away to process everything. So, yesterday, I spent my energy on planting new flowers & admiring the all the blooms, new and old. 🌸🌷🌼🌺 I woke up this morning feeling like I had done the right thing by posting my vulnerability. The amount of you that could relate to my thoughts blew my mind. It’s a lonely world, when you’re a one woman show, work from home, & only do business online. It made me feel like I had a little community of some really incredible maker friends (and supportive customers). 🩷 After some self reflecting & thinking about the wonderful advice that I received, I think I need to figure out how to do things •my• way…which means it has to make •me• feel comfortable. I’ll push myself a little out of my comfort zone, but not to the point it overwhelms or stresses me out. *baby steps* Examples: 👉🏻 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚. I can’t do this by jumping in head first, but instead, maybe widen the lens a bit, when showing my process. I only show you my hands, but maybe including some wider shots of me working would be a good start. 👉🏻 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙙𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙟𝙚𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙧𝙮. I never want to feel like I’m pushing products all the time, like a salesman. We have enough of that on here. 😒 I’m pretty guarded & rarely share my family, but if I can do it in a way that feels comfortable to me & my family, then I will. Otherwise, I may share my other interests with you, that’s not jewelry. 👉🏻 𝘽𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜. I tend to feel overwhelmed with keeping up with comments and responding. When I start to feel this way, I retreat. I realize that is just how I work. I can’t have the pressure of constantly responding immediately. I feel better and respond better, when I have time to process my thoughts. So, these are just a few personal things I’m going to try. For those that related to my last post, I hope this can help to give •you• ideas on how to manage social media, when you’re an introvert, overly sensitive person, suffer from imposter syndrome, etc. I am extremely grateful to each and every one of you. 🥰.
