A beautiful hand-knitted sweater in the works. I recently finished weaving in all of the ends and went straight into blocking it… these pictures are from before it was blocked. This is the Stella Slipover by @brooklyntweed. I was given the opportunity to knit it up as a preview knitter, and I’m so glad because I absolutely adore mine. These are just a few snapshots of my version as I was working on it. I always find it satisfying looking back at the process, and it’s nothing short of exhilarating seeing handmade pieces come to life. I knitted mine using #quarryyarn in the color Snowbound. It was my first time using woolen-spun yarn & it definitely won’t be my last. I cannot get over the squishy feel of the fabric. I cannot wait to see how it looks after blocking. Most western women are taught to be “strong and independent” in their late teens and early twenties. You are NOT taught to be a wife and mother, especially when you’re young. And that’s because you’re supposed to “live your life” and “have an established career” before you get married. I even had a career advisor be sad and disappointed when I told her I was engaged to be married at 19 years old. But, why is being a dedicated wife and mother a bad thing? Why is that not considered “enough”? How could taking care of the people you love the most, raising the next generation not be considered enough? Don’t pay attention to a world that tells you being a homemaker is “not enough”. It not only IS enough, but it is what God says should be taught by older women: to teach the younger women to be keepers at home (Titus 2). Sourdough Snickerdoodles Recipe 👇 Cookie Dough: 350 g granulated sugar 170 g unsalted butter, room temperature 3 g sea salt 1 large egg, room temperature 1 large egg yolk, room temperature 125 g sourdough discard 6 g baking soda 9 g cream of tarter 360 g all-purpose flour Cinnamon-sugar Coating: 1/2 c granulated sugar 2 tsp ground cinnamon 1. Preheat your oven to 350° F. 2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, & cream of tarter until evenly mixed. Set aside. 3. With an electric mixer or stand mixer, cream together the sugar & room temperature butter until they are light & fluffy, scraping down the sides, about 5 minutes. 4. Add the egg, egg yolk, & sourdough discard. Beat the mixture until creamy & well combined. 5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet, & stir until tacky dough forms. 6. In a small bowl, combine sugar & cinnamon. 7. Scoop & roll dough into 2-inch balls. The dough will be super soft if sticking to hands, coat hands in flour. 8. Coat each cookie dough ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Space cookies 3 inches apart on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. 9. Bake the cookies on batches on the center rack of your oven for 9-11 minutes. The cookies will look under-done but don't cook longer! 10. Once you remove cookies from the oven, let them cool for at least 10 minutes before moving to a cooling rack. 🎃PUMPKIN SOURDOUGH LOAF🎃 1. Prepare dough as you normally would. 2. Cut 4 cotton baking strings/twine about 12 inches long, soak them in water for a few minutes. 3. When time to bake, apply the 4 cotton strings in a cross cross pattern while dough is still in the proofing basket. 4. Place the parchment paper onto of the strings and carefully clip onto surface. 5. Connect all of the strings and tie them in a knot on centered, on top of the loaf. Cut any excess string off. 6. Score the loaf, I like to do 6 shallow cuts on both sides of all of the strings. 7. Bake the loaf as normal. 8. Once loaf is finished and cooled, cut the strings and pull them all off. 9. Just a friendly reminder that you don’t owe anyone an apology for being a follower of Jesus. Should you give an account for the faith you have? With grace, absolutely. But using discernment and learning some boundaries in the process is a healthy standard to set. The world is going to disagree with you, (and probably even some Christians along the way). They won’t like how you live, how you speak, how you raise your children, how you share the Gospel. They honestly may just not like YOU. Period. They won’t immediately come into agreement with the way you stand upon the Word of God. Yes, it’s going to anger them when you uphold Ephesians 5:11 and reject fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Even if you don’t call them to live by the same standard, many will still be offended. It’s going to enrage them when you refuse to call evil good and good, evil within our culture. But, respectfully, you’re here to serve God…not their opinions. That’s really your bottom line. So, once again, this is just my little reminder to continue being bold for the right things. Keep standing on the Word of God, keep praying, keep speaking out and keep sharing the Gospel. •Joshua 24:15- And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. Reflecting on the passion of my Lord, it is important to me to ask for mercy. What He went through for me, my heavy sins, is truly beyond our comprehension. What I mean by that is that Jesus was not a mere man who was just brutally tortured. He was God, the Lord manifest in flesh, the Messiah who came to save the world. God Himself came to this earth as a babe, endured all kinds of suffering (even before His passion; mentally). God was tortured and slain for you. You who i͟s͟ a mere human being. A human being that deserves the everlasting punishment of God's wrath. But He loved us so much that He decided to become like us and even be tortured to be slain. We need mercy. Without God's mercy, we are nothing. And what God did for us is not ‘nothing’. You need what He did for you. The biggest mistake I see people make when it comes to non-toxic cleaning is using vinegar where they shouldn’t. I did it myself when I was going through infertility and doing everything I could to eliminate endocrine-disrupting chemicals in our home. I would dilute vinegar and spray it on everything. I thought it was a great all-purpose cleaner. Smelly, but great. I had no idea it could damage some of the things I was cleaning. Things like: **Natural Stone:** Vinegar can etch or dull the shine of granite, marble, and other natural stone countertops. **Hardwood Floors:** Regular use of vinegar can eat away at the wax finish on hardwood floors, making them look lackluster. **Unsealed Wood:** Unfinished or unsealed wood can absorb vinegar, causing it to swell and potentially crack. **Metal Surfaces:** Vinegar can cause pitting and discoloration on some metals, especially aluminum and cast iron. Yeah, whoops! Definitely dulled my hardwood floors. Here’s the other thing about vinegar—even if its used on a “safe” surface like linoleum or laminate countertops—it doesn’t even clean or disinfect that well. Jason Tetro, a microbiologist in Edmonton, Alberta, and author of The Germ Files. “You need at least five minutes for killing bacteria and 30 minutes for viruses.” 30 minutes? To let vinegar sit WET on a surface in order to disinfect? I don’t have 30 minutes to sit and wait on a something to get clean. I barely have the patience to wait 30 seconds. I’m more of a “wipe and go” cleaner. And THAT is why I fell in love with high quality microfiber to do most of my cleaning tasks. I’m not risking etching the finish of my wood or stone or marble. I’m not WAAAAAAIIIIITTTTTTTIIIInnnNGGGG 30 minutes or even 5 minutes on a product to work. I wipe something down.. I walk away. Done. Sanctification - it’s a big word with a lot of meaning behind it. But in simple terms it’s the process of making something or someone holy. It’s the refining process of turning away from our sins and chasing after Christ and how He’s called us to live. Colossians 1:10 and Ephesians 4:29-32 describe this. When we enter into the season of marriage and motherhood God uses it to further refine us and draw us closer to him. Your home is a spiritual battleground like no other. Home is raw. Home is where we bear our true nature and often where our flaws are revealed to us. But what a beautiful place for spiritual refinement, to be refined along with our loved ones. To dig in together, support and love one another as we strive for the life Christ has called us to. How are you fighting your battle of sanctification? I was getting ready for church on Sunday morning and wasn’t sure about wearing a particular dress. “There’s a roll there, my belly is jiggly, I need to lose some more weight…”, my mind wandered. As I grabbed another dress to change into, my son came into our room. He stopped in his tracks and looked up and down. In a serious but very gentle voice, he said, “Mama, you so beautiful. Your dwess is so beautiful!” My heart. His sweet little voice melted me. He didn’t care about the extra pounds, the jiggly belly. At that moment, mama was the most beautiful thing in his little world, and those words were exactly what I needed. The dress stayed on, and I wore it proudly knowing that my little boy thought I was beautiful 🤍
My husband works in the logging/forestry industry and the company he works for had celebration for being in business for 77yrs along with thanking all their employees and customers. It was a great weekend with a bunch of wonderful people. Most don’t know that during all the turmoil with my family the last few months mixed in there my husband got a promotion which I am so proud of him for getting.
