Over the past 15 years, I’ve spent well over $100k of my own capital flying myself all over the map to put myself and my work in front of those decision-makers, entertainers, musicians, politicians, and many other public figures whom I felt could make significant impact on my career as a professional photographer and visual artist. Sometimes that roll of the dice worked, and in other cases it didn’t. However, I relish the opportunity to gamble on myself whenever possible…as nothing beats a failure but a try. Working at Paisley was awesome! But working with the creative genius who envisioned it and saw fit to hire a hungry dude from DC to photograph him in it….? That was mind blowing!!! On April 8 years ago, I began photographing Silver Citizens…free of charge. I did so, in honor of my father who departed this existence on April 7, 2014. During that inaugural session, I photographed some incredible women and men. You can’t imagine how elated I was when my high school classmate, Lisa Yearwood, walked through the door bringing her parents to be photographed. I could go on and on about how amazing they were to speak with and to photograph. Although the spirit of the sessions will always be to honor my Pop and all that he did for me, this year’s sessions will be dedicated to Mrs. Eleanor Yearwood. On March 26th she was called home to eternal rest, but the gentleness of her spirit and the joy in her smile will never be forgotten by me nor anyone that knew her. Thank you Lisa for sharing her with all of us. The Complimentary Silver Sessions will be held again on May 1st and May 2nd. More information to follow.
