Progression for my deadliftssss. I started deadlifting around April of last year and this is just a small progression post for when I deadlifted 305 pounds on July 5th, to me deadlifting 305 pounds today. 💪It’s honestly crazy looking at the progress on my deadlifts in less than a year, because looking at the 2nd video we can clearly see how crap my form was, and how I’m really struggling to lift that weight. 😂 However, when we take a look at the first video, we can see how my form has improved so much and the deadlift overall just looks way cleaner. Also, this isn’t even my max deadlift. My max is 365 but currently my body loves getting injured and I have inflamed my left hamstring 🤦🏿♂️, so I’ve been taking a rest from deadlifting heavy. I thought I would just do 305 for reps today and post this small progression as well to show my progress. 4/28/15 9 years 🔷 Today we celebrate 9 years of freedom. Everything I am and everything I have is all because of Gods grace and mercy and working a program of recovery. Once upon a time I couldn’t stop using. I chose drugs over everything in my life, including my Son, my Family, and My health. Nothing mattered but getting and using drugs. It was my entire existence. I was lost and broken. I was a harm to myself and others, and I continuously broke my families hearts. I almost died, had open heart surgery, lost twin babies, and watched my Son fear his Mothers death and I still couldn’t stop using. BUT GOD yall🙏🏻 I am just so grateful. I should be dead and instead I live a life of purpose. There isn’t an area of my life that recovery hasn’t transformed and today I am grateful for the experiences that led me to walk into my first meeting because it changed the trajectory of my life forever. Thank you to the 12 step program that saved me and all the people that showed me the way, and to all those that continue to love and support me. I will never be able to repay the gift that has been given to me by getting this 2nd chance at life, however I aspire to always live in a way where my life is my message. My passion for life, change, and constant evolution is driven by my gratitude for still having breath in my lungs. My story, my testimony is that nobody is too far gone. There is always hope. It's been quite a while since I've consciously posted anything on social media, as I've tried to avoid anything that could cast shadows on the bright path I'm striving to follow. I've been focusing on myself and learning how to accept myself and the inevitable direction that life has steered me towards. Reflecting on the value of the short amount of time I've been in this world, I hope my positive impact has been exponential. And that's a wrap! Another bucket list item is crossed off the list. At 40, I've been blessed to experience countless memories and opportunities, including the dreams that I couldn't even imagine as a child would be possible for me to achieve or come true by 40 or ever. For a while now my "motto" has been to "dream big". When I told people my plans throughout each stage of life, it was always a leap of faith and trying something new in an environment that was never familiar but I knew it was that opportunity that would push me to greater heights. This Africa trip was that moment that I only dreamed of as a kid. Each moment was so unique and special. The things that @killawong and I experienced were so rare that every person at @jwmasaimara was saying that just experiencing half of those moments in those few safari days would be incredible memories. But we got lucky, the rain only came down during the night and one afternoon drive was cut short due to rain but we saw The Big 5, including a lion hunt with over 15 lions and Simba kill two African Buffalo, a young bull elephant charge at us, fighting between male gazelles, and so much more! I will have content to share for weeks or even months from just a handful of days in the safari. Memories for a lifetime and am thankful for this amazing experience.
