It’s been almost one year since my near death experience and this is #mystory with my #COVID19 and my #covidrecovery #rehabilitation. I was on top of the world when it was announced to winning a National Fitness award, doing virtual teaching for several organizations and getting recognition for #seniors. All that changed when I was diagnosed with covid and the trickle down affects it brought to my body. These symptoms including #covidpneumonia #bloodclots in my lungs & right leg, type2 #diabetes #Rhabdomyolysis lung/kidney/liver failure and it all turned around. I believe it was my faith, prayers from countless people, my will to live and that God wasn’t finished with me yet. Sharing my #testimony of #miracles and how my life has changed. So with this recovery I did my part in eating better and focused on my body for better #health and #spiritualgrowth. Now I am strong enough to teach again and I am grateful that the #YMCA is giving me this honor. A wise woman told me that God gave me a new body and that I had a second chance to beat any all illness that came my way. I believe in the power of #prayer, I believe in having #Faith but most of all thankful and blessed to have people like yourselves that keep me motivated other than I am NOT COMPETITIVE AT ALL! But lost most of that holiday fat I gained at Christmas by 10 lbs and still 4 inches around my stomach. I will be 53 years YOUNG in middle of May but I feel like I am in my 30’s. I rebuke that I will have #type2diabetes by my next doctors visit at the end of May early June. NOT feeling motivated today. I’m tired of these struggles it seems like eternity. I always wondered if I should share my business with living with #myrecovery experience and the financial issues that arise. At the same time looking at the blessings from it. My unemployment for being furlough ran out out so I applied for disability and playing phone tag with them. Right now I am blessed to be living off the “Go Fund Me Page” that was set up. Therefore I THANK YOU for your GENEROSITY from the bottom of my heart. My continued healing is great but I still get a little muscle fatigue and soreness causing me to rest or nap a long time. Here’s the definition of ....... Rhabdomyolysis it is a condition in which damaged skeletal muscle breaks down rapidly.[3] Symptoms may include muscle pains, weakness, vomiting, and confusion.[3][4] There may be tea-colored urine or an irregular heartbeat.[3] Some of the muscle breakdown products, such as the protein myoglobin, are harmful to the kidneys and may lead to kidney failure.[3] Besides all that I do my best NOT to be defeated but it’s so F...CKing frustrating. So I woke up this morning wondering if I was going to go walking again. Then I looked at my plaque with my newspaper article from the #houstonchronicle and said to myself “Get your A$$ up and DO IT”. Here’s a photo attached from July 16th when I was in the ICU. I looked to see how far I have come and gained for just trying. Lift your leg, sit up, raise your arm, get out of bed, DO SOMETHING! #DoNotBeDefeated and this is #mystory and my #covidrecovery in order to make a difference is to be the example. Expanding my lungs staying away from everyone walking in and out of trees. My doctor suggested walking in the park to #exercise my lungs. Well I’m done almost 20 minutes and taking it day by day. This is part of my #covidrecovery to get stronger for #mystory and the #COVID19 experience of #healing, you have to do your part you can’t get better if you don’t try. One of my diagnosis was having #Rhabdomyolysis and here’s some information below to tell you what it is. Again #miraclesstillhappen #survivingcovid19 #eliotsstory #eliotperez #covidrecovery #wearamask Rhabdomyolysis A rare condition, rhabdomyolysis is a muscle injury where the muscles break down. This is a life-threatening condition. Groups of people who have a higher risk of developing this condition include endurance athletes, firefighters, members of the military and older people. What is rhabdomyolysis? Rhabdomyolysis can be a life-threatening condition caused by muscle breakdown and muscle death. This dangerous muscle damage can result from overexertion, trauma, toxic substances or disease. As muscle cells disintegrate, they release a protein called myoglobin into the blood. The kidneys are responsible for removing this myoglobin from the blood so urine can flush it out of the body. In large quantities, myoglobin can damage the kidneys. If the kidneys cannot get rid of the waste fast enough, kidney failure and death can occur.
